It feels like it’s been some time since the last land sale for The Sandbox. But now they’re back, with the first new lands available in 2023! And though the ecosystem for The Sandbox is still in its infancy, land plots are steadily becoming more valuable as the space grows. It won’t be too long before all of the land plots are sold out completely!
This ‘Voxel Madness’ land sale follows Sandbox’s new raffle system. Players must have an account with a verified identity (KYC). Then, to enter the raffle, the account must hold 1,011 SAND tokens in their connected wallet (4,683 if they want to sign up for a Premium land), the price of a plot. Players with enough tokens can enter both raffles.
Raffle signups open on February 14th, 3pm UTC, and remain open through February 20th, 3am UTC. The results will be announced on February 21st at 11am UTC, with the sale opening an hour later. Interested participants can register at http://register.sandbox.game/voxel-madness
Signing up for the raffle provides one raffle ticket. In addition, those who reached level 5 or higher in previous alpha seasons receive bonus tickets.
Voxel Madness Land Sale
Raffle winners have 24 hours to purchase their land plots. All purchases will occur on the Polygon blockchain and use SAND tokens as the payment currency. Any un-purchased plots will go up for auction on Open Sea. When players win a raffle ticket and purchase a plot, they are given a random selection from those available for the sale.
And though this raffle system may annoy some people, trust me, it is much better than the frantic gas wars of the past that often resulted in many people spending money on transactions only to find out that the plot had already been purchased!
This sale offers 385 regular land plots and 45 premium spots. In addition to the raffle sale, 34 lands and 12 estates will go up for auction on Open Sea on February 21st. The Premium lands each include a bundle of NFTs for use in The Sandbox from the sale partners. This sale features plots near partners such as Invincible, Voxies, Cut the Rope, Dungeon Siege, and more!
Sandbox Land
Sandbox land plots provide their owners with a number of benefits. Land owners can join a limited, SAND staking pool, receive access to special events and early access to new features, and will receive airdrops of Gems and Catalysts sometime in 2023. Gems and Catalysts will be used to enhance items in The Sandbox.
But, the real reason to own a land in The Sandbox is to build your own game or social experience. This includes art galleries, music clubs, hangouts, and whatever else can be imagined and built. Eventually, land owners will even be able to monetize their experiences. The Sandbox offers VoxEdit, a tool for creating and animating game assets, and Game Maker, a software app for building, designing, and publishing your own Sandbox experience. Both are free to use and receive regular updates with new features.
These land sales will come to an end at some point. It seems that about 2/3 of all of the land plots that will ever exist in The Sandbox have already been sold. Many of them to well-known names and brands. The current floor price for a standard sized plot in The Sandbox is 0.8 ETH on the secondary markets!
