Blankos Block Party Review & Crypto Game Guide

Mythical Games’ Blankos Block Party is a free-roam open-world multiplayer experience that combines creative world-building, gaming, and toy collecting.

On one hand, the game invites you to collect digital vinyl toys called Blankos. On the other, you also get to play with your Blanko, upgrade it, and build experiences you and other Blankos can enjoy.

Having already won over 1 million users ahead of its Epic Games launch, Blankos Block Party is set to attract more players and even traditional vinyl toy collectors. In this article, we’ll discover what makes Blankos so entertaining.

Blankos Block Party Gameplay Overview

Blankos Block Party centers on exploration, creation, and collection. As a player, you get to explore user-generated experiences inside the platform. That is, you can play different kinds of games that your fellow users have built. You can go racing, platforming, shooting, or just partying around.

Also, you can build your own set of experiences. You can set up game levels and define your own rules. And no, there are no coding skills required here—just a bit of creativity and curiosity. Other users can also try what you’ve built, and then at the end, they can give you a rating.

By the way, you experience these games and block parties through your “Blanko.” All Blankos—except for the first two you’ll get to play with at the start, namely N.O.O.B. and Trickle—are non-fungible tokens or NFTs.

Your Blanko will have unique skills, too. You get to practice or battle these skills out with fellow players, or you can go on solo challenges at The Junction.

The more you play and complete daily, weekly, and seasonal challenges, the more rewards you earn. Rewards include XP Chips, Gumballs, Party Passes, Moola, Blanko Bucks, NFT accessories, and even some Blanko NFTs. You can use the consumable rewards to touch up your Blanko or give it more accessories.

Game Economy Overview and Play-to-Earn Mechanics

Interestingly, Blankos Block Party doesn’t have crypto tokens. What they have, instead, are in-game currencies called Moola and Blankos Bucks. So, unlike Axie Infinity, you won’t be earning cryptocurrency from playing Blankos.

Instead, you could gain rewards such as Moolas, Blankos Bucks, and NFT items when you complete challenges. Blankos Bucks are more powerful, as these can purchase NFT items. Meanwhile, your Moola can only buy emotes and non-NFT accessories.

When you save up Blanko Bucks as you progress, you will soon have enough to purchase your own Blanko NFT and other NFT items.

By playing with your NFT Blankos and customizing them, you’re increasing their rarity and scarcity, and therefore, their value. Then, you could earn real-world money by selling your Blankos and other NFT items to other players in the Mythical Marketplace.

Occasionally, the game creators would also release special and limited edition Blanko NFTs. When you get these kinds of Blankos, you can further raise their value by getting them to GradeUp (level up), have new color combos using Gumballs, or MashUp with other Blankos on your Shelf.

How to Get Started

It’s relatively easy to start playing Blankos Block Party, especially now that they have an Early Access version. You can try it using your macOS device or Windows PC. The game devs have given the following system recommendations for the best gaming experience:

For PC: Windows 10 64-bit or later

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770AMD FX 8310
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Video: Nvidia GTX 660, AMD Radeon HD 7870, DX11 GPU

  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Video: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 or equivalent
  • Resolution: 1344×756
  • Storage: 4GB of free space

If you satisfy the above, you can download the game launcher on your device. Note: even if you’re only at Core i3 or at 4GB of RAM, you could still load up the game. But, you might experience hiccups along the way.

Anyway, while waiting for the launcher to finish downloading, you can also create your Mythical Games account. You can use this account to log in to basically any other experience or play-to-earn title that Mythical Games will release, aside from Blankos Block Party.

Once installed and opened, the Blankos game launcher will download the latest game update. Blankos Block Party is free to play, so the moment the game is installed, you can begin the tutorial right away, and then try out some of the newbie experiences.

Blankos Block Party Review

The game creators have expressed their deep passion and dream for creating Blankos, and they did deliver, even just from the Early Access version.

You see, their vision for Blankos Block Party is for it to be a world where you can just be yourself. It’s meant to be a safe space for you to unleash your creativity and explore multiple experiences your fellow users have built.

And watch this—there’s going to be a wordplay here—they’re really putting the fun in non-fungible tokens.

But, here’s the irony of how they did that: they’ve designed the game such that you don’t have to know anything about NFTs or the blockchain to play the game.

In fact, when I started playing, I didn’t have to mint anything. I got a N.O.O.B. Blanko to play with right at the tutorial. It’s naked, but it’s still cute and can already jump and move around.

Also, from the moment you click on “play” at the Blankos game launcher, you’ll be greeted with party music. You’ll definitely feel all the good vibes.

Then you can begin to explore The Junction, which gives you the opportunity to collect some “Vibes” and practice running, jumping, and even falling.

Soon, you’ll meet the daily and weekly challenges, which give you rewards. And guess what, within minutes of playing and exploring, I already got a Party Pass, some Moola rewards, and another free Blanko to play with called Trickle.

Anyway, there’s a ton to accomplish and look forward to at Blankos Block Party. My favorite parts so far are the immersive racing and leaping experience and all the rolling I needed to do to collect Vibes, especially at Blanko Brawls.

Also, a Blanko is just too cute. The sounds it makes whenever it takes an effort at jumping, paired with the lively party music in the background, just makes the whole experience fantastic.

Overall, I think Blankos Block Party is something you’d enjoy even if you’re not there for the NFTs or the earning potential.

Whether you’re a vinyl toy collector who’s keen on seeing an equivalent of your hobby in the digital space, a creative who wants to set up adventures or host parties for other players, or a simple introverted gamer who just wants to find an escape from the real world, then you’ll likely find Blankos quite exhilarating.
