Aavegotchi prepares to launch The Forge, a system that lets players break down wearable items into components, and then use those components to craft new wearables!

The Aavegothchi crafting system is set to go online on February 22nd, 2023. Known as The Forge, this crafting system has two components, smelting and forging.

Smelting allows players to break existing Aavegotchi Wearables down into their base components of Schematics, Cores, Alloy. Forging allows players to use these components to create new Wearables.

Wearables are composed of three or four components — schematics, cores, alloys, and sometimes essence. Schematics function as the blueprint, defining what specific item is being crafted. Cores have an associated rarity and slot (ie face, body, etc) while Alloys are the basic construction material. Players need Essence to create Godlike items. However, Essence is only obtained by sacrificing Gotchis!

Crafting takes real-life time )based on item rarity), and each Gotchi can only have one item in construction at a time. Gotchis gain Blacksmithing skill from using The Forge. Higher level skill results in faster crafting times.

Smelting is pretty basic. Put your item in the smelter and receive the associated schematic, core, and 90% of the alloy used to craft it. To help players get started crafting, the Aavegotchi team plans to sell Cores and Schematics in their Auction House. These auctions begin when The Forge goes live.

In addition, there is a rumor that some items may contain special ores when smelted…

Rented Gotchis and Gotchis listed for sale may not use The Forge. You can read more details about The Forge in Aavegotchi on their official blog post.

What is Aavegotchi?

Aavegotchi is a collection of NFTs on Polygon that function as a pet, a playable character, and a gameified DeFi system. Aavegotchi are pixellated, 8-bit style ghosts. Players can mint new ones during special ‘Haunt’ events or by purchasing one on the secondary market. There have only been two Haunt events so far, generating 15K ghosts.

Gotchis have three primary attributes — Rarity, Kinship, and Experience. Players can increase Kinship by petting their Gotchi (up to twice a day) or consuming Kinship potions. Gotchis who are not petted lose one Kinship point per day. Experience gains come from community events, participating in governance voting, mini-games, and also consuming Experience potions.

But the big one is Rarity. Each Aavegotchi begins with a Rarity score based on their starting attributes. But this is where wearables come into play. By equipping wearable items, Gotchis can increase their Rarity score. Items that are compatible with the Gotchi’s traits provide larger bonuses. Gotchis also receive one Spirit Point for every three levels of Experience. Players use Spirit Points to improve one of their Gotchi’s traits.

For each of these three attributes, players compete on a leaderboard for a seasonal event called ‘Rarity Farming’. Every two weeks, players receive GHST rewards based on their Gotchi placements on these leaderboards. Each season lasts eight weeks.

There is an ever growing ecosystem around Aavegotchi, with an MMO style world in development.

The Tamagotchi-inspired play-to-earn game, Aavegotchi, released its first alpha and a lending platform where players can rent out their NFTs for others to use and profit with. They first announced it in November 2021.

The model is similar to what existing scholarships offer but follows a completely trustless and automatic procedure. There are no guilds or human actions needed to rent an Aavegotchi, and players that rent one can fully experience the game and its play to earn mechanics.

lending solution in Aavegotchi

Aavegotchi NFTs can be rented for a limited amount of time, usually 1 to 8 hours, or bought from the Bazar. Buying an Aavegotchi costs a minimum of 600-650 $GHST (at the time of writing, 1 $GHST is worth $2), while renting them is usually free or requires very little sums, usually up to 5 $GHST.

The renting process will include a percentage for the Owner, Borrower, and others that might participate in the asset. As of now, if you’re participating in the beta, most NFTs will give 100% of the profit to the Borrower, since they’re being inserted in the market from the Owners themselves.

Aavegotchi NFT stats

When borrowing it, you will see all their traits. More information on what makes one Aavegotchi more powerful than the others can be found in their official Whitepaper.

The process works out within the Polygon Network. Even if the rent is free, please make sure you have a bit of MATIC for the gas fees and to conclude the transaction.

We Tested the First Alpha for You

Enter the Gotchiverse

The first gameplay alpha of the game includes staking for $GHST, some tools to calculate the value of the NFTs you want to purchase, the aforementioned Gotchi Lending, and the bazaar to purchase Aavegotchi.

There are two real main gameplay features: minigames and the Gotchiverse. The Gotchiverse is the metaverse where players can earn real tokens that can then be swapped for another crypto, while minigames are simply for fun. They feature internal leaderboards.

Aavegotchi Minigames

At the moment, there are 8 minigames. In the future, the team will develop new and exciting ways to use Gotchis.

When you first enter the Metaverse, you’ll be presented with a screen to choose the Aavegotchi to play with.

How to enter the Gotchiverse

After confirming your selection, you’ll enter the Gotchiverse. You need to sign the contract every time you enter the Gotchiverse for security reasons. There are usually around 300 to 500 active players in the Gotchiverse at any given time.

Once inside the Gotchiverse, your goal is to collect as much alchemica as possible. The game refers to “Alchemica” when talking about the four internal tokens you can find inside the map. Alchemica stones spawn randomly inside the pixelated metaverse and you can find them by moving around the map.

When you collect the stones, they’ll show up in the right sidebar. To cash them out, you need to enter the contracts in your Metamask Wallet and run to the nearest black hole. The black holes are properly shown on the map. Here are the contracts for the stones:

  • Aavegotchi FUD: 0x403E967b044d4Be25170310157cB1A4Bf10bdD0f
  • Aavegotchi FOMO: 0x44A6e0BE76e1D9620A7F76588e4509fE4fa8E8C8
  • Aavegotchi ALPHA: 0x6a3E7C3c6EF65Ee26975b12293cA1AAD7e1dAeD2
  • Aavegotchi KEK: 0x42E5E06EF5b90Fe15F853F59299Fc96259209c5C

Alchemica can also be used to craft recipes, and more in-game utility will be provided moving forward. As of now, you can only craft one book:

The value of Alchemica fluctuates, but swapping them for other crypto or $GHST could prove harder than expected. The developers claim you can swap them on QuickSwap. However, as of now, no DEX or CEX officially supports the tokens, and you’ll rely on liquidity provided by other users. There’s no staking or BP for these stones.

Although interesting and active, the Gotchiverse as it is right now can become boring quite quickly. The only existing mechanic is movement, and the only objective is to catch these stones that spawn randomly from time to time. After a few minutes, this process becomes repetitive and not enjoyable.

It’s always nice to see a play to earn game actually ship a functioning demo, but the Gotchiverse still has a long way to go before becoming a play AND earn game. As of now, there’s not much more than figuring out which NFTs will be more valuable in the future.

What is Aavegotchi?

Aavegotchi NFT

Aave is the Finnish word for ghost. An Aavegotchi is a cute little pixelated ghost that has several traits. First of all, there’s financial collateral backing the existence of the little ghost. In addition, these ghosts have random traits, they can wear clothes and other items, and they come with a certain rarity level. You could see an Aavegotchi ghost as a modern piggy bank that generates interest while wearing cool pixelated items. The money backing the ghost will always be there. And adding rare NFT wearables increases its performance and therefore makes it more valuable.

With GHST Aavegotchi has a newly announced eco-governance token. Users can acquire GHST through Uniswap and other exchanges, or the Aavegotchi platform. You buy GHST using DAI, and you need some Aave aTokens, like aDAI for example. Then you need to spend GHST to get a portal, which will give you a cute little Aavegotchi. Owners can use this little ghost in games, sell them for a profit or burn them to regain the money backing its existence.

WorldWideWeb3 will allow players to become their Aavegotchi NFTs starting December 11th. The 2D metaverse already has integrations with other projects, such as CyberKongz and CryptoPunks, in addition to WorldWideWeb3 NFT projects. Once live, Aavegotchi NFT holders will be able to become their Gotchis in-game. The Aavegotchi integration marks the first cross-chain integration for the project.

WorldWideWeb3 (WEBB) is an in-development 2D metaverse based on Ethereum with its sights set on full interoperability with NFTs from many popular blockchains. A recent Tweet from the WorldWideWeb3 team announced the Aaavegtochi integration with a short teaser showing a Gotchi floating in the WorldWideWeb3 metaverse.

The team also announced integrations with The Littles NFT and Wizards & Dragons Game that will also be live on the 11th. These integrations are the same in nature as the Aaavegotchi integration.

Currently, WorldWideWeb3 allows players to walk around a town as their chosen NFT avatar from any integrated projects or a standard white man. The project is currently holding a whitelisting event for an upcoming asset sale that requires players to navigate a simple yet fun stealth mission, and then take part in a Snake-inspired PvP contest, with the top 1,000 ranked players earning a whitelist spot.

This is more fun than it looks once you’re knocking out other players.

You can go check out what’s available on the project’s website, just click Play and enjoy. I did not mind them taking a shot at Facebook (Meta) in the intro, or the Tron and Ready Player One references scattered throughout. It’s free to check it out and you don’t need any specific NFTs to explore the world.

The limited gameplay that’s currently available gives us a feel for what’s coming, and it seems quite promising. This new Aaavegotchi integration marks the beginning of the NFT interoperability that is central to the project. It’s the first in the series of additional blockchain and NFT collection support, but how will it impact gameplay?

What Does NFT Integration Actually Mean?

You don’t have to look very deep into WorldWideWeb3 to see they are heavily inspired by the Ready Player One universe. Rather than go the labor and graphics-heavy route of immersive VR gameplay, they opted for a 2D pixel metaverse. This stylistic choice sets the tone for perfect integrations with other projects that use pixel art NFTs, such as Aaavegotchi.

At present, NFT integrations allow players to see their precious NFTs walking around in a pixel world. It’s worth noting that the project that created the chosen NFT must specifically design a full-body version of your NFT to appear as an actual character. Otherwise, you’ll see the NFT as a profile picture with the generic body as standard players. The Aaavegotchi integration will feature a full-body character.

That’s only the beginning, however. WorldWideWeb3 aims to become an MMORPG that uses NFTs from a variety of popular projects to represent avatars, lands, items, pets, and even quests. The focus is to allow communities to exist and thrive within the 2D metaverse however they see fit. It’s easy to imagine a thriving Aaavegotchi community within WorldWideWeb3 where Gotchis socialize, shop, live, and adventure together (in addition to what’s happening with the Aaavegotchi project itself).

These integrations allow players to directly represent their NFT and their community within the game. It’s unclear if the chosen avatar will have any quantifiable impact on gameplay, but it’s easy to imagine potential mechanics related to which NFT you are currently using. Of course, the project is largely social in nature, so the way that you present yourself is itself a part of the gameplay.

What is WorldWideWeb3?

WorldWideWeb3 (WEBB) describes itself as an MMORPG metaverse game that uses NFTs for in-game avatars, lets, lands, items, and quests. Their virtual world will become a template for future projects, with core values to keep the space open for all and interoperable with as many other projects as possible.

In this world, you can play as you Punk or Bored Ape, and then use your Mooncat or CrypToad as a battle pet. The developers want to integrate as many third-party projects as possible. If you don’t have any of the supported NFTs, you can always play with a CryptoWeeb. Those are the native characters.

Aavegotchi has introduced Gotchi Lending, a new way to generate passive income by lending NFTs to other players. The Aavegotchi Lending system functions completely on-chain, and allows players to rely completely on blockchain technology without the need of human efforts.

The Aavegotchi lending system, also dubbed the on-chain Uber of the Gotchiverse, gives players borrowing the NFTs limited access to the NFTs. There will be a duration to the contract, a fee and possibly a reward split. Players can even limit the availability of their Gotchis to their own social circle, or everybody globally. This would allow someone in a guild to lend Gotchi NFTs only to other guild members.

The concept of lending NFTs was pioneered by the Axie Infinity community, where the current popularized scholarship program comes from. It gives gamers with less financial power the ability to participate and earn in and from an ecosystem. The Aavegotchi improves on that system by letting all lending options happen on the blockchain. The system even allows players to set rules for the way how NFTs are split between the lender and the borrower.

Second land sale coming December 2nd

Aavegotchi will conduct its second Gotchiverse Land Sale on December 2nd at 15:00 UTC and it will run through December 5th. They will auction exactly 7,000 parcels of land using a unique bid-to-earn platform, while they will give away 3,000 parcels in a raffle. Additionally, participants will earn GHST for bidding, even if they don’t end up winning.

The bid-to-earn auction will take place between December 2nd and December 5th, with 7,000 parcels up for grabs. A drop-ticket raffle will be held between December 10th and 13th to distribute the remaining 3,000 parcels. Participants will use GHST to bid. What is a Bid-to-Earn Auction?

Let’s back up a little. How does bidding on land parcels earn rewards?

Aavegotchi is able to reward bidders by using GBM’s proprietary platform. The original bid is returned alongside an incentive when the participant has been outbid. This approach rewards everyone, not just the winner.

GBM’s platform has been used for many notable auctions and has earned a reputation for driving up engagement. Projects love the added attention, and gamers love it for the incentives. I expect that we’ll be seeing more bid-to-earn style auctions for future game asset sales.

Pixelcraft Studios will launch the very first land sale for Aavegotchi and the Gotchiverse on October 28th, and the sales event will end three days later. A total of 16.000 land parcels will go up for sale, using the GHST token on the Polygon blockchain. It will be the first sales event for virtual land utilizing the bid-to-earn mechanism.

Starting from Thursday October 28th gamers and Aavegotchi enthusiasts can join the auction for land in the Gotchiverse. The auction uses the bid-to-earn mechanism, meaning that those who get overbid can earn a percentage of their last bid. During the last wearables auction the team used a maximum of 10%.

All available parcels in this auction have been placed in the Gotchi Citaadel. For each parcel there’s an independent auction and there’s no minimum or maximum price. However, parcels come in three different sizes, each giving access to more resources (a.k.a. Alchemica). You will need resources to build installations.

Owners of a land parcels can deploy their Aavegotchis and have them farm resources and then produce new items. Players need ERC-20 tokens named FOMO, KEK, ALPHA and FUD to be able to make Installations, which allow players to produce more yield and defend the land against the evil Lickquidators. You can read more about the auction here.

The developers of Aavegotchi have announced the Aavegotchi Graants, a series of ecosystem grants to have developers make games using the pixelated ghosts. The grants range from 500 up to 5000 DAI, and are sponsored by Polygon Studios, Ivan on Tech and Moralis Web.

Aavegotchi itself was born as an idea, funded by the AaveAave team. Now the Aavegotchi team wants to return to favor to other aspiring developers by providing grants. The grant program follows the success of the first Aavegotchi Game Jam. Pixel Craft Studios now hopes to welcome more minigames to their ecosystem, covering both ecosystem dapps and games.

Game developers will need to provide a functioning proof of concept that can be used during the second season of Rarity Farming. Ecosystem developers will need to validate the value their dapp adds to the Aavegotchi ecosystem. If you want to develop a game or a dapp, please read the official announcement.

Next Aavegotchi sale will involve land

Looking at their roadmap for the rest of the year, Aavegotchi revealed that their first land sale will take place in October. They will sell parcels in the Gotchiverse Realm one month later than originally planned. When Aavegotchi sells their first land parcels, they will do this following the bid-to-earn method. During this first land sale, the team will sell 16,000 REALM parcels. In addition 4,000 REALM parcels will go to the Drop Ticket Raffle. The team will reveal more details about the land sale later this month.

Before the REALM land sale takes place, Aavegotchi has a bunch of other events planned. Right now users can stake their GHST tokens to earn frens points, which they can use to buy raffle tickets. These tickets could earn users a portal for Haunt 2. In addition there will be a DAO event in two weeks, followed by a Frens wearables raffle at the end of the month. In October the team will allow users to make an offer on their Baazaar NFT marketplace, followed by the second season of Rarity Farming.

These tickets could earn users a portal for Haunt 2. In addition there will be a DAO event in two weeks, followed by a Frens wearables raffle at the end of the month. In October the team will allow users to make an offer on their Baazaar NFT marketplace, followed by the second season of Rarity Farming.

The rest of the Aavegotchi roadmap

After that first land sale, there’s a lot more happening in the Aavegotchi ecosystem. For example, the team will introduce the option to rent or lend Gotchi ghosts. Those who borrow one, will be able to use this pixel ghost to compete in mini-games, gain access to the rewards from mini-games, join the Gotchiverse and so on.

At the moment of writing there’s a game jam happening, and some of these games will be published in the Aavegotchi Aarcade this November. Here players can use their ghosts to compete for prizes. Supposedly this will make Aavegotchi even more a play-to-earn game.

In November and December the second and third land sale for Aavegotchi will take place, followed by the launch of the Gotchiverse Citaadel in December.

What is Aavegotchi?

Aave is the Finnish word for ghost. An Aavegotchi is a cute little pixelated ghost that has several traits. First of all, there’s financial collateral backing the existence of the little ghost. In addition, these ghosts have random traits, they can wear clothes and others items, and they come with a certain rarity level.

Aavegotchi has announced the official date of Haunt 2, coming to you on August 26th, 2PM UTC through August 29th, 2PM UTC. Players and collectors will participate in a bid-to-earn auction. The developers believe this is a “fairer, more fun and even profitable” way for participants to attempt to buy a Gotchi.

The Aavegotchi community approved Haunt 2 last month, and now we know the exact date it will begin: August 26th at 2PM UTC. Anyone who wants to participate needs to have a stash of GHST tokens on the Polygon Network. The auction will take place at aavegotchi.com/auction.

A total of 80% of the new supply for the Haunt 2 will be auctioned off, while the remaining 20% will be distributed via Drop Ticket Raffle. The Haunt 2 auction will see the release of 12,000 new portals, which are used to summon new Gotchis. On top of that, there will be a minimum of 36 dazzling wearables. They won’t sell any potions during the Haunt 2, unlike the previous event.

You can see these Gotchis as crypto token filled wallets. The developers have announced three new “spirit forces” as part of Haunt 2: amWBTC, amWETH, and amMATIC. This brings the total up to seven total spirit forces, but the remaining four spirit forces will be exclusive to Haunt 1 Gotchis.

The Aavegotchi community has voted to approve Haunt 2, which will release 15,000 more Gotchis into the ecosystem. While 20% of these new Gotchis will become giveaway rewards, the remaining 80% go on sale through a bid-to-earn auction. Additionally, the Haunt 2 proposition adds new collateral types, leaderboards, and rarity farming. All this will happen in August.

The developers behind Aavegotchi have made it clear that they have a different stance on rarity than other NFT-based games. They do think digital scarcity has its place, but it’s not the main goal of the project. In order to support increased adoption, the developers have backed a DAO vote to have a second haunt, which is the process for minting new Gotchis.

As of July 27th, 2021, the proposal for Haunt 2 was successfully approved by the Aavegotchi community. Portals will soon be available in Bid-to-Earn auctions, which we discussed earlier, and raffles.

Some of the items in the proposal include:

  • Introduction of new collaterals (WBTC, MATIC, and WETH)
  • Two new eye shapes exclusive to Haunt 2
  • Introduction of two new rookie leaderboards
  • Rarity farming rewards will be funded by 40% of auction revenue

We’re excited to see that this proposal has passed as it allows more people to join the Aavegotchi community, allowing the project to grow and thrive. This is an interesting project that is pushing the limits of what can be done with NFTs and DeFi, and we love seeing it grow.

You can review the Haunt 2 CoreProp Medium post for more details.
