Ubisoft Quartz will allow players to earn and buy in-game items, tokenized on the Tezos blockchain as NFTs. The NFT platform will first only support the PC version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but more games will follow. Players can grab free NFTs, referred to as Digits in the game, on December 9th, 12th and 15th. There will be more drops in 2022.

Quartz will not be available to all players. Initially the service will only launch in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Brazil, and Australia. Players who reach XP level 5 in the latest Ghost Recon game will unlock access to the in-game NFT drops. The Ghost Recon NFTs will for example be limited editions skins. According to Ubisoft players need to be at least 18 years old to make a Tezos wallet for the game, but thankfully the game itself comes with a 18+ age rating.

Ubisoft and blockchain

Ubisoft has been experimenting with blockchain technology for a couple of years. They worked with various blockchain game studios, including Sorare and Sky Mavis. They also invested in Animoca Brands. So far Ubisoft launched a fantasy football test game earlier this year, and some Raving Rabbids NFTs for charity. This is the first time Ubisoft is implementing NFTs in one of their major IPs.

However, we need to note that Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been a disappointment at launch back in 2019. In an earnings call in October 2019 Ubisoft stated that the sales and reception of the game had been ‘very disappointing’. The Metacritic score is 58 out of 100, while the user rating only reached 28 points.

Game studio AlwaysGeeky had been talking about the VOXEL token as an in-game reward in the past. But they never revealed their distribution process. The current test version of the game doesn’t allow any play-to-earn mechanics yet. However, partnering with Binance Launchpad is of course a big step for the game studio. Binance Launchpad also hosted SAND for The Sandbox and Axie Infinity’s AXS token.

When VOXEL launches on Binance Launchpad, one VOXEL token will be $0.20. Users will need to stake at least 0.1 BNB, while the maximum they can earn is 75,000 VOXEL or $15,000. Right now you can deploy your BNB holdings, and earn points across your various accounts on the Binance exchange.

As if the launch of the VOXEL token isn’t enough, Voxies community members had their per reveal last week. As a result many Voxies characters now also have a little pet. Yes, the pet will also have a function in the tactical RPG.

What is Voxie Tactics?

Voxie Tactics uses game characters, so-called Voxies, on the Ethereum blockchain. These game heroes come with extra perks over the standard available game characters. Voxie Tactics is a tactical RPG that everybody can play for free. Gamers can play against the computer by exploring the world of Voxtopia, or they can challenge their friends in the PVP Arena. There will also be contests and rewards. Voxie Tactics features true players ownership, allowing players to earn VOXEL tokens and in-game NFT items. 

You don’t need a Voxies NFT to play Voxie Tactics. Even better, you don’t even need those NFTs to earn VOXEL tokens. However, you do need the VOXEL tokens for all in-game purchases. There will be an in-game marketplace for trading assets, including items and characters.

The developers are making Metastrike as a free-to-play game, and they allow players to earn from the game by being active. For example, they can design a game map. When that map becomes popular, they can earn from their creation. In addition the developers will sell in-game assets. Players can then upgrade these, and also sell these on the marketplace.

When it comes to gameplay, Metastrike takes inspiration from the most popular FPS game modes. Think about zombie mode, a singleplayer mode in which you need to survive against waves of zombies. Of course there’s Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag as well. In addition, less common modes like Kill Confirmed, Rush Mode & Conquest. Metastrike also allows guilds to win land, and then build a headquarters or home in the game.

When it comes to diversity in the blockchain gaming space, we definitely welcome a first person shooter like Metastrike. The genre is underrepresented at this moment. Gala Games is working on FASTR, but this will be more like a tactical shooter. Looking at the on-going popularity of games like CSGO and Overwatch, Metastrike could hit a sweet spot.

What is Metastrike?

Metastrike is an online multiplayer first person shooter enhanced with blockchain-powered functionalities. The game allows large numbers of people to own NFT guns. They can then use those NFTs to participate in the battle arenas, and earn tokens through their battles. In Metastrike players will find various game modes. Many games in the blockchain space have ownership over game assets stored on the blockchain, as NFTs. In addition plenty of them have an in-game token as well. However, having your game rules on the blockchain is something that not many have tried yet. To that extend Conquest.eth is pioneering, just like Xaya and Autonomous Worlds.

This second alpha of Conquest.eth will introduce new gameplay mechanics, will the team is open for sponsored planets where third-party projects can leave rewards. Players can now also form alliances, sending spaceships freely to each other, while players they can also hire an agent to control their fleet while they’re AFK.

What is Conquest.eth?

In Conquest.eth the universe is always expanding as more players join the game world. Players acquire planets, and need to do their best to acquire more of them. Not only do players need to create a war machine, diplomacy seems to be a valid option as well. Conquest uses a gigantic scale, which means that travelling can actually take days.

Players need to deposit a stake to produce spaceships, which are required to attack others. This stake is stored on your own planet. When other players capture your planet, they can then exit and claim your stake. The exit time is three days, and during this time the planet continues to produce ships. However, they can’t attack. Each of the planets have different stats, for example attack, defense, speed, production, stake amount and population.

Conquest.eth is an on-chain game. On-chain games are persistent and can function without the need of servers of other centralized authorities. All the user needs is a graphical interface, while all the game rules are stored on the blockchain. As a result the rules are always provably fair. Players only need to download a game interface, or perhaps just go to a website to get started.

Another Chaos Legion sale

The trading card game Splinterlands is not for everybody. You will need to pay $10 to unlock the PTE functionalities, and you will need to level up first before you’re able to start earning. Nonetheless, this is still one of the premier play-to-earn games on the market. Starting from December 8th there will be another Chaos Legion NFT card pack sale, in addition these card will become playable in the game.

REVV Racing

A whole new play-to-earn mechanic entered the game

REVV Racing already allowed players to use their NFT racing cars in competitions, in an effort to earn REVV tokens. However, you had to be good to win. With the introduction of new PTE mechanics, everybody will at least earn SHRD tokens, which unlock CATA tokens, which allow you to upgrade NFT cars and make them better. Cool stuff, adding a new earning mechanic to the game. This will likely increase activity for REVV Racing for sure!

Doctor Who: Worlds Apart

First playable version coming before the end of the year

Reality Gaming Group and BBC Studios haven’t revealed a launch date yet, but the first playable test version of the trading card game Doctor Who: Worlds Apart will launch this month. You will need a Founder Token to join this alpha. The team also plans an new sale for Founder Tokens somewhere this month, but again, not details yet.

Mobox: MoMoVerse

DeFi became GameFi, now becoming a gaming universe

Mobox will launch the first phase of the Mobox MoMoverse on December 6th. The existing Mobox NFTs become avatars for a daily quest system with play-to-earn mechanics. During alpha players will be able to test the MoMoWorld game and receive MBOX rewards. Once the open Alpha is complete, the official version will launch, including an NFT marketplace. Out of all the GameFi products on the market, this is one that has been building and growing its ecosystem consistently since its launch in April. Don’t expect anything like an MMO yet, but it also seems like everybody is making virtual worlds nowadays.

On December 6th you don’t get access to the Chainmonsters closed beta with a code, but instead gamers will need an NFT. This means that NFT owners can always sell their access key on the public market, even though it will be useless once the beta ends. Everybody who participated in the Alpha, Genesis sale, or has a FlowFest Adventure bundle, can also join the closed beta.

The closed beta will allow players to participate in the game before Chainmonsters goes into open beta in 2022. Players can capture monsters, level them up, upgrade them and earn Season Pass rewards. All progress from the closed and open beta will persist into the full game launch. Chainmonsters will also give away thousands of Closed Beta access NFTs to community members through their social media.

What’s new in the closed beta?

Once upon a time Chainmonsters started as a top-down 2D MMORPG, but it has grown into a full-fledged 3D online role playing game that can potentially compete with Pokémon. Each chainmon has base stats, and players can upgrade them using gemstones, flowers, materials and Chip Dollars. Of course the real deal breaker is that captured mons can be converted into NFTs using Mint Tokens, including with the Season Pass.

With the new battle system, Chainmonsters wants to set itself apart from the competition. Compared to the previous versions of the game, of course the battle look way more awesome. However, battles also have a lot more features. In the closed beta elements like Stamina and its influence on ultimates comes into play, while certain species come with certain tactical advantages or disadvantages.

In addition the team has added a whole load of new designs, making the environment more vivid than ever before. They will even add a vegetation engine, allowing dynamic wind effects to make the world look even better. In the coming months the team will expand on the story and quests for the game. B-Side Games is looking to expand their team with more developers, to add more improvements to Chainmonsters in the many months to come.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. It runs on PC and mobile devices. Players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or region: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo, and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition, each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

The crate sale for Farsite has been hyped quite a lot, because players will need credits in order to be able to purchase territory on one or more planets. To buy that land you will need Credits, the name of the in-game currency. However, you can only get Credits if you destroy an NFT containing some.

These so-called collateral NFTs or cNFTs are generally spaceships. So you will need to buy a crate, get spaceship, and then destroy the spaceship to obtain Credits. Out of the 4 different crates, only 3 are still available. When you order 3 crates or more, you will get a small percentage discount. This discount increased when you order more crates.

Pre-Alpha

Pre-Alpha gameplay starts on December 14th. Plays can expect to test fly their ships, dock at stations, explore other stars, and visit their planets. Most importantly though, Pre-Alpha marks the point where players begin mining and gathering resources from their Sectors.

If you don’t already own a sector, there are still some available on various planets, though most are quite expensive. For those with less deep wallets, the opportunity to acquire Sectors on new planets arrives on December 9th. Keep an eye on the Farsite Twitter and Discord.

What is Farsite?

Farsite is a blockchain-powered MMO game with elements of real-time strategy. The game’s economy uses aspects of decentralized finance on the Ethereum 2.0 blockchain. Players can take on all kinds of roles to be part of a bigger intergalactic economy. Every item in the game is made by players, using resources that have also been acquired by players.

Players could be a hauler, a complete contracts by moving goods between space stations. They could also be a miner, gathering resources, or a manufacturer who creates tools and items. The universe of Farsite also offers space for governance over stars, mercenaries, pirates, politicians and of course traders.

To produce something, you’d need a blueprint, components, a base on a planet and Credits to pay for services. The blueprints you can buy, borrow, or find, while components are made from resources found on planets. All items in the game are owned by players. Establish a base on a Planet in a hunt for rare materials to craft powerful Ships and Modules, trade on the open market, fight for loot and honor to govern the entire Constellation!

Farsite also boasts Credit-backed NFTs, or cNFTs as they call them. Every Ship and Module is a cNFT. These are in-game NFTs which can be burned to receive Credits. This feature guarantees that every cNFT will always have a minimum value, based on the number of credits it’s backed with.

Land in NiftyVille is very rare. There will only be 750 properties in the entire world of NiftyVille. This means that real estate becomes very scarce, and demand will push the price up. Don’t be surprised if the auction will require deep pockets.

The team will split the sale in two events:

• 6 parcels will be given away to Whitelist Pass holders, where each pass counts as a raffle ticket
• and only 4 parcels will sell in a 24-hour public auction. The highest bidder will win.

These 10 properties come in two rarities: Tier 1 and Tier 2. The Tier 1 properties are rundown, under construction, less appealing living places. However, players can always upgrade them. Property owners receive tools and resources for owning the land. Property owners can also higher contractors to upgrade or renovate their assets. The Tier 2 houses are middle-class residential properties. Players can customize these homes as they see fit.

Judging by the map, NiftyVille will offer farms, villages, and a bigger city area with a park. There will also be a harbor, sandy beaches and snowy mountains. The game world consists of one big island, surrounded by various smaller islands.

What is NiftyVille?

NiftyVille is a play-to-earn open-world MMO.  The game will offer players all kinds of opportunities for action-packed gameplay, ranging from demolition derbies to street races and zombie parties. There will be events initiated by the developers, but players can also organize their own events.

Players will be able to have their own business inside NiftyVille, and they can take on any role they desire. Players can own shops, which means they can earn NiftyCoins and the opportunity to sell exclusive NFTs. For example, buy a car dealership and you will receive exotic car NFTs available only to you.

Land in The Sandbox is currently in high demand. The cheapest lands on the secondary market cost 1790 SAND, which translates to $11,921. Tomorrow during the land sale, a regular land parcel will go for 1011 SAND, providing a serious discount against the market price. A premium land will carry a 4683 SAND price tag, as it always has.

However, these premium parcels come with extra NFTs. In this case Snoop Dogg-themed assets including The Snoopverse Early Access Pass, which will give owners early access to Snoop Dogg’s creations in the metaverse. In addition there will be a Snoop statue and the Brown Sugar car.

This will be the last land sale for The Sandbox in 2021. That would mean that the second Snoop Dogg land sale takes place next year.

The Sandbox Alpha now live

The Sandbox opened its first play-to-earn event on November 29th, allowing players to experience and explore the voxel universe for the first time. Players who own The Alpha Pass get to try out 18 game experiences, while earning up to 1000 SAND in the process. In addition there will be three exclusive NFT awards.

Players who don’t own The Alpha Pass will still have access to three game experiences and the social hub. However, they won’t be able to earn the play-to-earn rewards.

The alpha test for The Sandbox will start on November 29th and ends December 20th. Every day the team will release a new game experience, starting with the The Sandbox Alpha Hub.

What is The Sandbox?

The Sandbox is one of the blockchain-powered virtual worlds currently in development. The virtual world of The Sandbox consists out of lands, and voxels fill up each of those lands. Visually it will remind many gamers of Minecraft, as both games have this Lego-inspired look to them. However, players are able to buy virtual land and implement any form of monetization. These virtual lands can become mini-games, adventures, virtual shops, extensions of actual webshops, a space for social gatherings, and so on.

The Sandbox is providing free tools for developers, gamers and content creators. Creators can use VoxEdit to make objects. In addition the Game Maker allows users to create interactivity on their virtual land. The Sandbox will also create a meta gaming experience. Players can for example do daily quests or weekly quests for their guild. This will earn players SAND, which they can sell or use to buy in-game items or virtual land.

It’s not yet clear what the closed alpha of Dungeon Universe will bring to the table. In addition we don’t know whether the items earned in the closed alpha will carry over to the full game later on.

In order the gain access to the closed alpha of Dungeon Universe, players need to buy the $150 adventure Supporter Pack. There are various packs available, but the cheapest $60 one doesn’t give access to the alpha. The novice pack lets players join during the beta somewhere in 2022.

The most expensive master pack costs $3000. However, this pack will have premium access for life, and you get to claim a piece of land, get unique companions, lots of items, and much more. If you’re bullish on the time you will spend in Dungeon Universe, it’s good to know that a premium subscription will cost $20 per month. This will give you 10% more gold and XP, and reduced fees on auction house listings, enchantments, and so on. You will also be able to create a player shop, and that’s probably the really interesting part.

Dungeon Universe will feature all the familiar gameplay elements from an MMO, offering free-to-play gameplay with the ability to win rewards for in-game activities. Players get to battle enemies, complete quests, gather resources, craft items and so on.

What is Dungeon Universe?

Dungeon Universe is an open-world MMORPG that taps into the power of the Enjin ecosystem. This means that game items are NFTs, and players can trade and sell these items as they like. This way players who put lots of time in Dungeon Universe, can gain financial benefits by selling their most valuable assets.

When it comes to available assets, there are weapons, armor, recipes, pets, resources and materials, but also player housing. You will find these items by questing, battling monsters, doing group quests, dungeons, raids, defeating world bosses, battling PVP in the arena, and so on. Obviously gamers can play the game in a guild, but also solo.

Dungeon Universe takes place in the world of Arania, where monsters now dominate. Within this dangerous world, players can setup their own shop and trade items. They can also specialize in certain services, for example to enchant weapons or assist other players in raids. Initially there will be 3 different professions, (wizard, scout and fighter), but more may be added down the line. Personally very interesting will be house ownership, which allows players to build their own cities.
