Farming Tales continues to slowly build their game economy with the recent introduction of a Task system. This system lets players visit a Trader building in town and exchange farm products for specific goods that can’t otherwise be acquired in-game! This is another step towards creating an economic loops for the game.

Tasks are basically a quest system for Farming Tales. Deliver the required amount of products to the Trader, and the Trader gives you a special item in return.

Currently, the trader offers only a couple of items, but this will expand in the future. The current top-tier items offered are Peach Trees. Only 100 Peach Tree NFTs total are available, with 22 of them already crafted. These are legendary rarity NFTs and only one tree can be staked per farm. These are game NFTs only (i.e., they don’t have real world equivalents like some of the other plants).

More Quests ahead!

The team also revealed plans for their next two major quests, both of which do involve real life items! The first is for Olive Trees. Like the Peach Tree, players craft these by exchanging goods at the Trader. However, the goods needed for an Olive Tree make quite an extensive list! The quantities are not yet revealed, but the items needed include Vegetable Nut, Bread, Beer, Nail, Brown Sugar, White Sugar, Fish Fillet, Corn Flakes, Shirt, Grappa, Royal Jelly, and Butter!

Olive Trees will be stakable and in the future, linked to production of real-life olive oil.

The second upcoming quest involves shoes. For an even longer list of items, the Trader will provide players with a shoe NFT. Owners of this NFT can redeem it in exchange for a real-life pair of Farming Tales branded sneakers! Crafted by an Italian artisan, apparently!

These quests are an important step towards bringing the actual game economy online. I just hope in the future they make some logical sense rather than just trying to provide a use-case for every single item in the game. But Farming Tales definitely deserves a shout-out for continuing their line of NFTs that equate to real world items!

What Else for Farming Tales?

Also coming to Farming Tools soon is a new crafting system for farm items such as animals and buildings. Currently, these items can be purchased directly in-game for SEST tokens. However, this functionality will instead move over to the Task / Quest system.

In a further boost to the player economy, Farming Tales has also introduced a new ‘Crating’ feature. Crating lets players can box up their goods for sale and mint them as NFTs. Players can purchase these crates and then burn the NFT to receive the goods inside in their Barn (make sure you have enough room beforehand!).

Before this new Crate system, Seeds were the only in-game good that also existed as an NFT. This is an important prelude to another major, upcoming change.

In another upcoming move to bring the game economy online, players will soon no longer be able to simply sell their products directly from their Barn for SEST tokens. In the near future, players will either need to Crate and sell their farm produced items as NFTs, or take them into town and refine them into other products. This will greatly decrease the amount of new SEST tokens coming into the system. It should also spark some additional NFT trading volume on external markets.

Farming Tales takes a major step forward in building their community farming game with the introduction of New Waxchester. This crafting center and social hub will continue to grow and expand and become a major part of the Farming Tales game.

In Farming Tales, each player has their own farm where they can grow crops, milk cows, harvest seeds from their greenhouse, and other sort of farming-related, resource gathering tasks. But before the introduction of New Waxchester, farming was a lonely, solo adventure with no meaningful use case for the farm products. But now, we’re stepping into a new era.

Faming Tales expands their game greatly with New Waxchester. Whereas previously, players could only sell their farm goods for SEST tokens (or WAX tokens on an exterior marketplace), now they can visit New Waxchester and make new goods! This includes cheese, sugar, flour, sausage, and many more. There are even a few items that are third level crafting (ie, made from products you get by refining things in town). And this will only expand over time. With the addition of more complex recipes and additional integration of the economy into the gameplay.

The town itself is still a little rough in spots. There are some typos and the trees tend to make it hard to see. But, just a day after release, the team has already put out one patch to take care of a few issues and improve performance, which is a good sign for future development.

Players have the option of visiting New Waxchester in single player mode, or joining a multiplayer, community version. The functionality and location is everything is still the same.

New Waxchester also includes a new bank where players can stake CBIT and/or SEST tokens to earn AUREUS tokens and a multiplayer, tractor race, mini-game.

What is Farming Tales?

Farming Tales is a 3D farming and economic simulation game built on the WAX blockchain. Players own stables, gardens, coops, docks, and more. From these they harvest various resources for sale. A more full fledged economy is in the works, including refined items (e.g. wheat into flour) and complex productions such as baked goods. Players earn SEST, the main game currency, by selling the goods they produce.

The game is not free to play. You need to own game NFTs before you can do anything. All animals need a place to live and growing plants requires a garden. Players must harvest regularly to make the most of their game items. Some allow harvesting as often as once per hour, while others take days to finish. Finding a good balance for your playstyle and time is important. Animal products tend to produce at a quicker pace than garden products.

Each harvest requires food or water, which players replenish by spending CBITs, a second game currency. Players can earn CBIT tokens by staking SEST tokens in-game.

With a recent update, players can now venture into New Waxchester to refine their goods and socialize.

While we wait for Farming Tales to introduce New Waxchester and a more interactive game economy, the team decided to bring us a new token, called AUREUS. Though the game already has two tokens, AUREUS will apparently be a cross-chain token that ‘will move the metaverse economy’, though I don’t really know what that means.

For reasons that are not completely clear to me, Farming Tales decided to introduce a third token, AUREUS, to their ecosystem. They claim that the new token is meant to be used in their ‘metaverse’, but with two tokens already in their game, a third game currency feels repetitive. It’s one thing if the tokens represent some in-game resource, but as far as I can tell, they are all just a different kind of game money.

Farming Tales already features two tokens, SEST and CBIT. Players acquire SEST by selling goods from their farms. I though that SEST would be the primary game currency, but now I don’t know. Currently players can either stake SEST to earn CBIT, or use it for crafting new buildings. Players use the CBIT token to fill up Water and Food supplies. Very limited use cases.

And to be honest, I don’t really see why we need two game tokens, much less three. Why can’t I use SEST to buy Water and Food? What’s the purpose of making me stake one game currency token, to earn another game currency token, just to purchase in-game items? This process could be easily streamlined.

I tried repeatedly to get some answers on Discord, with no useful responses from the dev team.

Frank pondering the meaning of life
Frank pondering the need for another token

About AUREUS token

AUREUS will be a limited issuance token with a maximum supply of 21 million, distributed over a period of 10 years. Farming Tales players will be able to stake both SEST and CBIT to acquire AUREUS tokens. Fifty percent of the tokens will be reserved for distribution to those staking these two tokens. An additional 10% of the tokens will be reserved for CEX listing, and another 20% for future events and partnerships.

Apparently AUREUS will be a cross-chain token, as they have also said that 20% of the tokens are reserved for rewards on the Solana and Cosmos chains. So, if AUREUS is truly a cross-chain token, then I can kind of understand the addition, though I still don’t see how the game needs three different currencies.

The team plans an AMA session on November 7th at 16:00 UTC on Twitch. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have a link to their Twitch channel anywhere that is easy to find. So maybe keep an eye on their Twitter for the AMA announcement? Hopefully they will clarify how these three tokens are supposed to interact. And also explain how each one has a distinct, meaningful place in the game’s economy.

Farming Tales continues easing into its full production economy with a major release this week. This one brings individual products to the game, as well as utilization of barns and the implementation of storage limits.

Taking another step towards their full virtual farming and production economy, Farming Tales introduces individual farm products into the game. Previously, Farming Tales simulated farming production in their game by simply providing players with SEST, the in-game currency, whenever they would harvest. But now, players receive specific products instead. Eggs from chickens, crops from gardens, etc. This paves the way for more complex markets and item production. Any items harvested are stored in the player’s Barn

Farming Tales Barn storage

As part of this update, Barns have limited capacities now. Players can buy and stake a Barn NFT to increase their storage limits. Up to 1000 units for Epic level Barns. Important note: If you try to harvest while your barn is full, your harvest will be lost! So be careful! Also, if you decide to unstake your Barn NFT, you should sell everything inside first.

But even though we now have individual products, the only options for selling them is a “sell all” feature. So, the end result of this update is simply some extra clicking for the players. But it’s an important step forward in bringing their full production economy online. The next phase of this update, expected to arrive soon, will allow players to sell individual products.

For now, the selling fee is fixed at 0.1 CBITs per sale. This represents the gas used to transport the goods to New Waxchester (the local town). These fees will change in the future.

Farming Tales NFTs are available for purchase on Atomic Hub.

Farming Tales continues its unique brand of combining gaming and real-life farming with a new sale. This one is for those interested in growing hemp. Beginning at 19:00 UTC on June 6th, interested players can purchase NFT boxes full of tools. Combine the right combination of tools to create a Hemp Field for use in-game, and potentially upgrade it to receive real life hemp products from an actual farm!

After already building out their farm, and delivering real life products from community owned saffron plants and bee hives, Farming Tales is ready to add a new crop, hemp! Players will be able to create Hemp Fields for use on their in-game farm, and upgrade those fields to Hemp Land NFTs. Hemp Lands represent partial ownership of the hemp crops in the real world. Much like the saffron and honey, when the harvest comes in, owners of the related NFTs have the option of receiving a portion of the product delivered to their homes!

Hemp Tools Sale

Farming Tales hemp lands infographic
hemp land inforgraphic

Players won’t be able to buy Hemp Fields directly (except from other players on the secondary markets). Instead they buy boxes of Grower Tools. Each box contains special NFTs, five in the Rookie box, ten in the Expert box. There are ten different tool types, with each box containing a random assortment. Gather one of each type of tool and blend them together to create a Hemp Field. Use a Hemp Field in-game to grow Hemp for the town’s economy.

After the Hemp Fields are assembled, there will be auctions and events over the next few weeks where players can acquire a special NFT. Blend this NFT with a Hemp Field to upgrade it into a Hemp Land. Hemp Lands are associated with the real life farm. When the crop is harvested, owners of Hemp Lands receive Hemp NFTs that can be traded on the markets or redeemed for delivery of some of the actual product!

And before the stoners out there get too excited, this is hemp, not marijuana. Though from the same species, the plants are different. Hemp is low on THC, but actually an extremely useful plant that has been unfortunately maligned in some parts of the world.

Apparently, the hemp products earned from the Hemp Lands will vary depending on the season. The farming team expects that the products for the first season will be CBD oil and herbal tea.

The sale begins at 19:00 UTC on June 6th on Nefty Blocks. Holders of Early Adopter Diorama NFTs get a 15 minute head start before the sale is opened to the public. This is a limited edition sale. There are only 160 Rookie boxes and 70 Expert boxes up for grabs.

The game is not free to play. You need to own game NFTs before you can start harvesting. All animals need stabling in an appropriate building and growing plants requires a garden. Players must harvest regularly to make the most of their game items. Some items allow harvesting as often as once per hour, while others take many hours to replenish. Finding a good balance for your playstyle and time is important.

However, harvesting comes with a price as well. Each harvest requires food and/or water, which players replenish by spending CBITs. CBITS can be purchased on external exchanges or earned in-game by staking SEST tokens. Players have multiple avenues for earning which will increase once additional layers and complexity come to the Farming Tales economic system. Coming soon are boosters, acquired via special cross-collaboration promotions with other projects. Players place Boosters into their building to speed up or increase production. Currently the game runs in a simulated economic model, but when the fully economy releases, each type of harvest will produce its own resources, stimulating an in-game market and trading ecosystem.

The Real Farm

On top of the Farming Tales game, there is Farming Tales, the real-life farm. Anyone can claim a portion of certain harvests from the farm by owning special NFTs! This includes honey, saffron and hemp! Once the crops are harvested, NFT owners have two options. They can either request the goods be sent to them, or they can delegate the goods for sale and receive a portion of the proceeds!

Even if you don’t own a production source, it’s still possible to acquire special NFTs such as Forager Bees, ‘burn’ them in someone’s hive and receive honey in return!

This is a very cool idea that showcases the power of NFTs, blockchain, and the potential for distributed/crowdfunded projects to thrive without loans and the traditional banking system!

Aspiring minstrels and musicians take heed! Farming Tales announces a new contest to create music for their farming game! The music NFT scene seems to be exploding lately with Snoop Dogg crossovers and the introduction of Gala Music, but it’s interesting to see a crowd-sourced music project! And one that includes a profit sharing program with the musicians!

Farming Tales, a farming simulation game that also includes NFTs that guarantee the holders a certain portion of real-life crops, continues to steadily build out their virtual world. Piece by piece they add new sections to the game in preparation for the launch of major features that will kick off the true game economy.

Earn with Music as NFTs

But today, we have something a little different. Utilizing player creativity to help build and shape a game is nothing new, but it’s not often that music is involved. In this case, anyone with an idea and the ability to lay down a music track can submit their creation for a chance to be included as part of the official soundtrack for Farming Tales!

Farming Tales gramophone
play that funky music

The works must be original and will have to go through an evaluation process by the team. Songs that are selected for inclusion in Farming Tales will be minted and sold as NFTs. Musicians receive 70% of the proceeds from the sale and 20% of the ongoing market fees from secondary sales. That’s not a bad deal!

In game, players will have a gramophone in their house, allowing them to select different tracks to listen to while they work their farms. Presumably they will need to stock it with music NFTs, creating a basic market for these musical works.

Keep an eye on the Farming Tales Discord and Twitter for the official music submission form. (I’ll also update this post when we have the link).

Greenhouse Sale

Farming Tales greenhouse
grow seeds, grow!

Farming Tales is also getting ready to have their Greenhouse sale. Purchased with SEST (the primary Farming Tales currency) only, Greenhouses are an excellent acquisition for any gardener. Greenhouses produce Seeds every 24 hours in the form of a Seed Box. Seed boxes contain a random assortment of Seeds. Both Seeds and Seed Boxes can be traded on the secondary markets.

This sale starts on February 27th, at 20:00 UTC and runs in two phases. The first phase is only open to those who hold an Early Adopter Diorama NFT and a Vegetable Garden. The second phase is open to all. Each sale has 500 Greenhouses. You can preview the drop on Nefty Blocks. With a steady creation of NFTs, I imagine these Greenhouses will be highly coveted!

Farming Tales, the combination 3D farming game and real-life farm, brings us the next phase of their new economy by introducing staking and the Cubitus token (CBIT). Players can only earn CBIT by staking their SEST via the in-game wallet. The game automatically airdrops CBITS daily to all in-game wallets based on their share of the staked pool.

Though not as popular as Farmer’s World, Farming Tales continues to hold its own in the world of farming games on the WAX blockchain. Their economy is still a very simplified version of the final blueprint, but Farming Tales continues to make progress by adding a new staking system which rewards users with CBIT tokens.

Players earn CBITS by staking SEST via the in-game wallet. Staking is free. CBITS are airdropped to each player’s wallet based on the percentage of the staked pool they hold. The interface shows your amount staked, percentage of the pool, and expected daily CBIT reward. Staking systems are always a solid addition to a token-based economy. It provides incentives for players to hold the token, reduces liquidity, and shows that the userbase has enough faith to lock up their game tokens for a set amount of time. In the case of Farming Tales, there is no specified lockup period. Players can unstake whenever they want, with the complete SEST credited back over 7 days, 1/7 of the total unstaked per day.

stake SEST to earn CBIT

The Basic Economy

The game requires CBIT tokens for stocking up on water and food supplies. And without those, players won’t be able to feed their animals or tend to their crops! Each player begins the game with a full bar of food and water, so you at least have something to start with. But every harvest uses up a bit, and once the bar gets too low, you’ll have to refill it at the Water Silo, which costs 5 CBITS each.

Players earn SEST by harvesting their crops and animals. In later versions, players will harvest specific resources such as eggs and wheat. There will also be a town called New Waxchester with a full economy, secondary products (eg, Flour from Wheat), and where players produce and consume most of the resources. But for now, that layer is simplified down to just the token earnings.

Both SEST and CBIT exist as their own tokens on the WAX blockchain. So they players can export them from the game and trade them on the Alcor exchange.

Farming Tales is an upcoming farming game on the Wax blockchain that allow players to earn tokens and redeem those for actual, physical rewards. This farming game uses all kinds of NFTs, from farmers to plots and their crops. Let’s take a look at the elements that set this game apart from the competition.

I’m sure most of you have noticed the surge in popularity of farming games: Town Star, Farmer’s World, DeFi Land and the list goes on. Personally I have never seen the appeal, until I discovered Farming Tales. The unique real-life aspects of this play to earn game truly separates it from the rest.

Farming Tales is similar to Farmville, but the key difference are the NFTs and play-to-earn mechanics. Players need NFTs like farmers, plots, and crops, each with different levels of rarity, and harvesting bonuses. The game world allots each user with their own farm to grow, and expand as they please. A chicken perhaps? A vegetable garden? Your choice. There is also the option for custom farmers. Currently, Starter packs are available for purchase on Atomic Hub, with more assets soon to be released. Farming Tales will launch soon on Oct 15th 2021 on the Wax blockchain.

Honey—WHAT? Earn tangible products!

The real world aspects of this project are what stands out. By building NFTs in the game players become owners of or investors in actual, real-world farms. These real farms are currently producing their own honey, saffron, fruit, vegetables, etc. Offering it for sale and earned through a video game. The idea behind this project is unique and original. The game adds another aspect to play-to-earn, and another example of the gamification of our reality.

Get in on the early rewards via Discord

Prior to game launch, players will be able to earn the native coin Sestertii on the Discord app. The amount earned is based on the assets in your linked Wax wallet. To do this, go to their Discord, and follow the necessary steps to interact with “Harvey the farming bot”. These rewards will help you start the game with some SEST to spend.

Buy and sell in New Waxchester

While players are working on their farms, they will also be able to sell their harvest in-game. The game uses a special village marketplace. At this marketplace everybody uses Sestertii, or SEST tokens. After a sale you can either use the SEST to buy new NFT’s, or to you can sell it on Alcor Exchange.

In addition, players can choose to improve their harvested goods at the various shops in New Waxchester. For example, fruit juice pressed from peaches, cereal from oats, and other products. Each of those profits can increase your farm’s profits. Furthermore the shops are player-owned, where the owner can set a fee for using the shop. Adding yet another layer of earning potential within the virtual world.

The Dirt

Although all of the original assets can only be purchased on the secondary market. You did not miss your chance. Upcoming drops are scheduled for the near future. In addition, most assets are not yet available for purchase.
