After a long period of quiet since their last playtest, Everseed drops a surprise release of the latest version of their gameplay demo.

Known as the Path of Radiance, the latest Everseed demo brings us a new interface, new maps, new creatures, new plants, and a new upgrade system! So there is plenty to experience, even for those who have played in the previous demos.

This demo game is still only open to those who hold Ranger or Plant NFTs. Rangers are the more expensive of the two NFT types, but players can pick up an Everseed Plant for as low as 0.8 SOL (~$18 USD). Once you have an NFT in your wallet, you can access the demo at https://www.everseed.com/

This latest demo brings a number of new features to the game. First off, we have a new interface. It’s still very basic, but definitely a step up from the extreme minimalism of the previous demos. In addition, there are new Plants and new Monsters to fight. The new plants include a fire spitting plant and another that makes new stream tiles.

Also, there is now a new layer of strategic decision making when placing defenses. Aside from watering, players can now upgrade their plants via a system called Radiance. This system allows players to spend their energy on picking one of two perk selections for the plants. The perks are based on the Plant type and can be things such as more damage, greater range, that sort of thing. Each Plant can be given up to two of these upgrades.

The new Everseed demo includes a Shop, and players receive Gems when completing a map, but neither of these features have any use at the moment.

One downgrade for this demo is that players no longer get to choose their Pet companions. Instead they are auto-assigned. Hopefully this feature will return in the next demo. Until then, may your gardens grow lush and tall!

Everseed Demo Gameplay

While the larger Everseed world will feature exploration and other such stuff, the gameplay for the demos focuses on the tower defense game, where players use plants to defend against waves of incoming blighted beasts. But Everseed offers a bit more strategy than most tower defense games. The creeps don’t have set paths they follow. Instead, they take the shortest route they can to your base. Players have a mostly free choice about where to place their plants (towers), though some terrain cannot be built on. So, as the waves progress, players end up creating their own, customized gauntlet of doom for the creep waves.

Players have limited Energy to spend each round. So choosing between placing new plants, revealing hidden terrain, and watering (leveling up plants) requires some thought and planning. And since watering is an area of effect ability, finding ways to group your plants together for maximum efficiency can be important as well.

Players also choose a pet Companion to help them. Pets can move freely before the round starts, block creep pathing, and have a special ability or two.

In this Everseed Demo Review we will cover this project’s third alpha demo! This web3 tower defense game does not stop growing and now NFT holders can access new and more challenging levels. Personally, I had a great time playing it and I am not even a fan of the genre!

How to play it?

  1. Buy a Ranger, a Plant or a Sprout on one of Solana’s marketplaces
  2. Head to the accounts section of Everseed’s website and link your discord account and Solana wallet holding the NFTs
  3. Head to the Demo’s launcher, log in with discord, and enjoy

Sometimes it takes up to one hour after players buy an NFT for it to be recognizable by the website.

What’s Everseed?

Everseed is a tower defense game where players need to defend the cultivator, a building that has a limited amount of Health Points. Hordes of monsters called the blight, will attack the player’s cultivator. Every time an enemy hits the cultivator it will lose a certain amount of health points, and when these reach 0, players will lose the match.

To defend the cultivator players need to plant seeds in the paths that the blight crosses. Enemies can attack from multiple directions so players have to plan well where to place each seed. Each seed grows into a regular plant, and these can get an upgrade with infusions. Each infusion will give plants special abilities like the ability to slow down enemies or apply poison.

To aid in battle there are also companions. Before each match, players choose one companion. Companions attack nearby enemies and have an ability that can be a game-changer. For example, the Honey Bear applies a temporary 20 Points shield to the cultivator. Besides this, companions, unlike plants, can move around the map. They are great assets because if players place them on the path that the blight will take, then enemies will be forced to change direction.

For all these activities each player will get a limited amount of energy every round. Energy can be used to plant seeds, clear tiles to plant more seeds, and water plants to level them up.

Personally, I had a lot of fun playing Everseed. I think it is the perfect game for PvE and Strategy lovers. It is the type of casual game that can hook any player to his screen for hours.

Everseed continues their cadence of releasing a limited time demo every couple of months with a new release. Featuring two new maps, two new tile types, two new plants, four new enemies, and even a new pet companion!

Everseed continues to build on their tower defense demos. Each release brings a little bit more to the game. With eight encounters, numerous enemies, and a growing selection of Plants (towers) to choose from, the Everseed demo is already a complex and fun gaming experience!

The latest demo brings many new items to the game. The newest Companion, Jerbaroo, is a sort of kangaroo-rat-monkey creature. Jerbaroo is a fast attacker with the ability to move around during an attack wave. Normally Companions are static once the round begins, so this brings a new dynamic to the game.

And the poor Alpha Corgi, the original pet introduced, has been overshadowed in the last couple of demos by the Honey Bear. To help them out, the team gave the Corgi Pets a bit of a boost. The Corgi can now attack from two hexes away, and its Growl ability effects a 3 hex radius with a reduced cooldown of 8 seconds.

new Frosted Delta map

A new tile type, the Sour Patch, applies Acid Stacks to enemies that pass through them, resulting in extra damage from other attacks. Also, players can place Plants on the Sour Patch tiles, causing them to do Acid damage. However, the Plant dissolves at the end of the round!

Shockstalk Plants shoot electric bolts at a random enemy in range. If the enemy hit is standing on a Stream tile, all other enemies in the same body of water take damage as well! We also have new enemies in the form of Automenders, Repair Golems, Shield Drones, and Nullifiers and another defensive Plant, the Dreadwood.

And these demos are actually a part of the main game. While the the demos work as standalones, when the main game releases, players will need to engage in these tower defense style matches when fending off aggressive enemies.

Players can also level up their Rangers by playing the demo, which will carry over to the official release. This latest demo allows Rangers to reach level 6. Players must own a Ranger or Plant NFT to play the demo.

Dedicated Everseed gardeners have been busy watering their Seeds over the last few weeks. Some of those Seeds have grown into Sprouts, and some of those Sprouts turned into Battle Plants. And though players can’t yet use their own Plants, they do get access to a new game demo!

If you’ve owned an Everseed Ranger for a while, odds are that you received an airdropped Seed. If you connect your account to the Everseed Discord, you can water that Seed until it sprouts and eventually grows into a Battle Plant. Presumably, this is a kind of preview of how crafting may work in-game. But, for now, it’s mainly meant to provide some preliminary value to everyone holding onto their Everseed Ranger NFTs.

Unfortunately, players can’t use these battle plants yet, but, they can play the latest Everseed gameplay demo, and continue to level up their Ranger(s)! Everseed brings us an updated game preview for Ranger owners. This one includes a new game map, new enemies, and new map features. Ranger holders can practice in free mode, or spend Favor for a chance to earn experience for their Ranger.

The newest demo features two new maps, The Blighted Bog and Rime Drift. Along with this, we get two new terrain tiles as well. Gas Vents cause poison damage to creatures that pass over, while Snow tiles slow them down. There are also several new enemies, including armored creatures that take less damage, two new plants, the Night Lily and Ice Thistle, and a new pet to choose, the Honey Bear.

Players can play the demo for free, or spend Favor and earn experience when they defeat a level. Players can rank their Rangers up to level 3 this way.

Tower Defense in Everseed

Part of the core gameplay of Everseed involves a tower defense game where the player uses plants to defend against waves of incoming blighted beasts. But Everseed offers a bit more strategy than most tower defense games. The creeps don’t have set paths they follow. Instead, they take the shortest route they can to your base. Players have a mostly free choice about where to place their plants (towers), though some terrain cannot be built on. So, as the waves progress, players end up creating their own gauntlet of doom for the creep waves.

Players also choose a Pet to help them. Pets can move freely before the round starts, block creep pathing, and have a special ability or two.

What is Everseed?

Everseed is an MMORPG game in development on the Solana blockchain. While building their primary game, they also have various Discord interactions and early demos of their tower defense game that lets players gain Favor and level up their Rangers.

Players own Ranger and Companion NFTs, which can be leveled up after successful adventures. When not adventuring, players spend time in a social town hub. Here players can chat with each other, customize their adventure gear, craft, grow crops, form guilds, and all that sort of good stuff. The game will offer seasonal content as well as permanent progression paths. Everseed will be free to play and the team considers free-to-play players a core part of the game.

The open beta for Everseed is expected in mid-2023.

Everseed Rangers are available for purchase from the Magic Eden marketplace.

As part of an event called Harvest Celebration, Everseed began to airdrop Seed NFTs into the wallets of those holding an Everseed Ranger. Players can water their Seeds daily via Discord commands and grow… something? This airdrop began on August 26th and still has more Seeds to distribute.

As part of a surprise event, Everseed began an airdrop of Seed NFTs to all wallets holding Ranger NFTs. The first pass already went out to those with level one Rangers. Another pass will be sent to the other Rangers sometime soon. These mysterious Seeds can be watered via the official Everseed Discord server.

Growing your Seed involves some Discord interaction. In the #gardening channel, you can use the /water command daily. In addition, Players may recruit Helpers, who can also water the Seed daily. Only players who don’t own Seeds can be Helpers. You can try to find a Helper on Discord in the #recruit-helper channel. Helpers earn a little Favor whenever they water. Helpers may also receive a special airdrop in the future! So make sure to link your wallet to the Everseed site and to their Discord server.

These Seeds cannot be traded. And though we don’t know yet what will grow from them, the team is highly encouraging everyone to water daily!

Building Along the Way

Ranger Outpost under construction

Everseed is taking a route we’ve seen from a number of blockchain games recently. Knowing that their ultimate game, a large-scale MMO, is still years away, the Everseed team is building mini-games and holding special events along the way.

The first is a pseudo-staking program, encouraging players to hold their Ranger NFTs. Ranger holders gain Favor for building Outposts. This is done automatically when you link your wallet on the website and verify yourself on Discord. Rangers take several days to travel to the build site. But once there, they begin constructing an outpost and generating Favor points. The longer you hold your Ranger NFT, the faster it generates Favor. Favor production speed maxes out after 21 days.

What is Favor good for? Not much yet. But the Everseed team promises that players will be able to spend their Favor for more content in the future.

In addition, Everseed is building a tower defense game, for which they have already held a couple of demos. Ranger holders could play this game, and use experience earned in-game to level up their Ranger NFT. Now we have something new going on with these Seeds, and potentially more Discord events to come?

Many gaming communities offer Discord games and interactions. But not many of them tie into and build towards the game in development. I like the way that Everseed is interlocking their games and giving them purpose.I think this will start to be a more common theme seen in blockchain gaming.

What is Everseed?

Everseed is an MMORPG game in development on the Solana blockchain. While building their primary game, they also have various Discord interactions and a tower defense style mini-game along the way that lets players gain Favor and level up their Rangers.

There is not a lot of documentation about the game yet. The website is pretty bare-bones, and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of whitepaper or litepaper. You can read a few blog posts from the Everseed team on Substack. The open beta for Everseed is expected in mid-2023.

After dropping a surprise gameplay demo earlier this month, Everseed ends July with a second, expanded demo. Available to anyone who owns an Everseed Ranger, this demo includes a tutorial and several maps to get players used to the game. But a new addition for round two is a battle map called Proving Grounds that costs Favor to join.

Leading up to their game release, Everseed decided to release a web-based staking game to let owners of Ranger NFTs earn Favor, an in-game currency. In game terms, the Rangers are building an Outpost to help defend against the encroaching blight. In NFT terms, you’re holding your Ranger NFT in one wallet and not moving it around. Players who own Everseed Rangers begin accumulating Favor as their Ranger builds an Outpost.

When a Ranger first lands in a new wallet, it takes four days before they can start building. Multiple Rangers can work at the same Outpost. You can also attach up to three wallets to one Outpost. Playing the Everseed Ranger staking game does require linking your wallet with the Ranger(s) in it to their Discord. Favor is a game currency only, and attached to the Ranger who earned it. If a Ranger is transferred between wallets, their accumulated Favor is lost.

Everseed Rangers

This is a nice way to reward those who are actually invested in the game rather than looking for a quick flip. There is also no interaction required once your wallet is connected. Just sit back and let the Favor roll in!

And you will need some of that Favor to play the new map addition, Proving Grounds, in the latest demo release.

Everseed Demo

The Everseed Demo is available for download and play for anyone who owns an Everseed Ranger.

The Everseed tower defense game is pretty standard, though the maps are more open and freeform than most. Players can place defenses in the creeps’ path, forcing them to reroute. The defenses are various plant themed units such as Basic Seeds and Sapweed. Each map involves defeating several waves of creeps. Much of the map is covered in Blight at the start, forcing players to remove it before they can place defenses. Players can also water the ground, which results in the plants in that area growing bigger every round.

gameplay sample

And if you want to play the new Proving Grounds map in this demo, it requires Favor. Each run costs 25 Favor, with the Ranger earning 25 experience points for a win. After three wins, that Ranger can no longer gain any experience, and the Proving Grounds map becomes free to play. Rangers who win three matches and earn 75 experience can rank up to level 2! But you’ll probably need a little practice first. Word has it that the Proving Grounds map is a significant step up in difficulty from the tutorial battles!

And though it may be hard to get excited about another tower defense game, it’s important to remember that this is just a stepping stone. As seems to be the trend in long-term blockchain gaming projects, Everseed is offering some preliminary content to rewards early investors while they work on building out their full game.

The last demo only lasted a few days, so you should plan on this one ending soon as well.

What is Everseed?

Everseed Social Hub

Everseed is a web3 game in development on the Solana blockchain. Combining rogue-type gameplay with tower defense, Everseed bills itself as a ‘farm-to-tabletop MMO’. I’m not entirely sure what they mean by that, but they are very focused on community and building for the players. Players go out on adventures where sometimes they must make story or quest decisions, and other times they have to defend against waves of creeps in Blighted Groves.

Everseed will be free to play and the team considers free to play players a core part of the game.

There is not a lot of documentation about the game yet. The website is pretty bare bones, and there doesn’t seem to be any sort of whitepaper or litepaper. You can read a few blog posts from the Everseed team on Substack. The game is not yet available, though the team has been releasing short demos / tests of early builds of their tower defense game.

Open beta for Everseed is expected in mid 2023.

Everseed is an upcoming roguelike game with tower defense mechanics. They define themselves as a “Farm-to-Tabletop” MMO—there is a core replayable game loop (“tabletop”) with built-in metasystems (“farm”) fostering long-term relationships with other players (MMO).

Everseed is being developed on the Solana Blockchain, and its core idea is to build a sustainable economy on top of a healthy community.

The development studio, Amihan Entertainment, is composed of ex-senior devs coming from Blizzard, Riot, and other major companies in traditional gaming. They saw an opportunity after the rise of Axie Infinity in 2021 and decided to take it.

Everseed is their first project, and in just a few months they got tons of free PR on Twitter, and structured their Discord server very efficiently, with only a few members being granted chatting rights.

In the future, the game aims to develop in stages, similar to how Warframe came to be. From a gameplay perspective, you start a run by choosing a companion. Companions bring unique abilities to a run, changing your potential strategy and playstyle. While most companions are collectibles that can be exchanged in the marketplace, free-to-play players will still gain access to companions in a way that doesn’t hinder their play.

Everseed’s gameplay could be described as “low skill floor, high skill ceiling.” Once the first type of gameplay will be released, the team will start working on MMO features and Universe building.

The Everseed NFT Mint

On the 20th of April, Everseed started allowlisting some SOL addresses from their discord and gave another wave of users a chance to join in their Elixir Sale through whitelisting the day after. The launch happened on the Magic Eden Launchpad.

Elixir is a token pegged to an NFT. Each Elixir cost 1 SOL. In practical terms, users that bought an Elixir will be able to burn it to mint an Everseed NFT on the 26th of April. Avatars can be personalized before that, to make the NFT look like us.

Everseed believes allowing deep customization of the NFT rewards players over the long run and makes the whole experience more authentic.

The Elixir is not currently tradable and is not listed on any exchanges. There are no real details over the tokenomics of the game or how the NFT marketplace will work, but the developers confirmed the minted NFT will indeed be tradeable and usable in-game.

The Elixir Sale event wasn’t a cash grab. The team clearly stated the development is VC-baked, hence the funds will be used to further grow their team and community.

A Focus on Diversity

The gaming community can sometimes be toxic towards minorities, and this is accentuated in play to earn titles. For this reason, Everseed is heavily focusing on inclusivity.

Their articles on Substack always mention diversity, and they even have a full guide on how to behave in their Discord community

During a Twitter Space, the founder claimed their 22-people team is composed of 50% non-binary members, further enhancing the narrative of empowering marginalized communities.

Everseed Roadmap

Here’s what’s ahead on the Everseed roadmap from now until the end of the year:

🌱 Website Launch
🐣 Community Launch
🎬 Teaser Trailer
🥇 Genesis NFT Launch
🤖 Prototype Build Playtests
🪅 Collectible Airdrops
🪙 Community Events & Rewards
💇 Avatar Parlor
🍕 Vertical Slice Playtest: Core Game Loop

Everseed will not launch any real gameplay demo in 2022. The team made it clear that they’re not going to rush through the development phases, and prefer to focus on shipping a quality game from the get-go. A project to keep an eye on!
