First Explorers Season 2 has arrived! And with it come some changes. Though the basic game is still the same — gather resources and complete Missions — we have a new mini-game around harvesting, as well as the ability for land owners to add NFT Decorations to their plots!

What’s New in Season 2?

This season brings a new mini-game interface to basic gathering. Instead of automatically harvesting, players must now move a targeting cursor onto the resource before time runs out. But don’t worry, it’s a pretty easy task! Though you do get bonuses for hitting just the right spot when the circle is filled.

We also have some shakeups with building ownership. First of all, to get a building up and running on a plot, owners must stake 10,000 UM tokens per building — up from the 5K needed in Season 1. This was done to try and slow down the creation of resources in-game, but it did rub some land owners the wrong way.

But, the reason that the Continuum World team was worried about over-production is that Season 2 introduces land decorations. Players can now use their NFT Land Decorations to boost production on their plots. Decorations can be placed on any plot, but some are associated with certain Biomes and will perform better there. There is also decreased production bonus when adding duplicate Decorations.

And the final addition to Season 2 of First Explorers are UmiBot Chips. These Chips have two uses. The first is for building owners, allowing them to set their UmiBot to auto-harvest their buildings at the cost of one Chip per harvest. The second use is for building renters. Renters can use UmiBot Chips to speed up production and finish it instantly — perfect for those times when you just need a few items to finish a Mission. The cost for speeding up production is based on the number of resources left in the queue.

How to Play First Explorers

In First Explorers, players can either harvest resources from plots they own, or gather from the wild. Each wild harvest brings in 1-3 different resources based on the type and rarity of the plot. Players can receive harvest bonuses by equipping their Umi with clothing / accessories from the same set. Wild resources spawn randomly. Players just have to look around the map to find an available spot. There are also random chests that appear which can contain various prizes. Players need energy to harvest wild resources. Energy replenishes slowly over time, or players can purchase batteries, which will refill energy supplies.

Each biome type produces different resources. And each rarity level also has a special resource only available at that rarity, making all plots worthwhile. In addition, some resources can only be acquired from buildings. Players who own the buildings and stake 10,000 UM tokens receive a steady, passive income of the associated resource. Other players can pay a fee to use a building to acquire resources, with a small percentage of that fee going directly to the owning player.

And the whole point of gathering all of these resources is to complete Missions. At any given point, there are three active Missions for each Biome type, and a set of three missions that require resources from various biomes. Missions have a limited number of times they can be completed, and they also rotate on a regular basis. Rewards for Missions include NFTs, UM tokens, and Ranking Points. Ranking Points are added to weekly and seasonal leaderboards, with prizes of UM tokens to the top players.

Continuum World First Explorers is free to play. And even without owning land, you can still gather wild resources, complete Missions, and earn NFTs, which you can either use yourself or sell at the in-game market!

Rewards include UM tokens, trophy points (for a leaderboard), and NFTs. As you might imagine, acquiring an NFT item will require significantly more resources than the other rewards. All of the missions have a limited number of times they can be completed, so there is some competition among players. When missions run out they will be replaced with new Mission options.

Continuum World launches the first preview of their game on February 6th with the opening of First Explorers. Free to play, and featuring potential prizes for everyone, this event is a chance for Continuum World to show players what they have been building.

And, joining on the the Lunar New Year celebrations, the Continuum World marketplace will offer specially themed items for sale this coming week. They say that anyone who acquires all of the Lunar New Year items will receive a “very, very precious” item for the next alpha. Those items should start appearing in the marketplace on Monday, January 30th.

First Explorers Event

First Explorers features players gathering resources with their UMiBot. The UMibot has limited energy however, and each harvest costs energy. Energy replenishes slowly over time (one point every 30 minutes). Otherwise, impatient players can pay a fee in UM tokens to give their bot additional energy.

Also, landowners will be able to construct buildings on their land by staking UM tokens (5000 tokens per building). Buildings automatically produce exclusive resources that cannot be found in wildlands. Other players can pay a fee to use a landowner’s building.

In this First Explorers event, players will be able to work on completing over 1,000 missions, and earn NFTs in the form of land decorations and clothing items. Players can receive bonuses while playing if they wear clothing items from the ORIGIN collection. Players can also find Mystery Boxes while exploring. Opening a Mystery Box takes one energy.

Each mission requires three different resources and can be completed multiple times by every player. When the mission runs out of rewards or the time expires, it is replaced with another mission. There will always be 14 different missions available. Players earn points towards a global leaderboard as they harvest resources and complete missions. The top 100 players on the leaderboard will receive UM tokens and NFT rewards at the end of the event.

Most games tend to build their own marketplaces these days, and Continuum World is no exception. And even though their first gameplay, First Explorers, isn’t expected to release until January of 2023, players can still browse the market for Continuum World NFTs, including new holiday themed items.

This is a full marketplace they have built. It’s not just for the new items. Players can buy and trade all Continuum World NFTs, including land plots, clothing, Birdum eggs, and decorations. The buying options are somewhat limited at the moment. But the marketplace will continue to fill and grow as new items are added to the game.

Christmas Themed Sales and Airdrops

To celebrate the holiday times and the release of their new NFT marketplace, Continuum World plans to drop new Christmas-themed items into the store daily from December 24th to January 6th.

Each day will have a new free item and a new premium item. The free items are Ugly Sweater Costumes. Collect them all and receive a legendary Santa costume! If you miss a day, you may be able to buy the missing sweater from another player on the new marketplace.

The premium items are Christmas themed items, and can be either costumes or land decorations. Prices will vary on the premium items.

In addition, all land owners will receive an airdrop of a Christmas-themed land decoration. The rarity of the airdrop depends on the number of lands owned. Owning 1-2 lands results in a rare item, 3-4 lands receives an epic, and owners of 5 or more lands get a legendary decoration. We haven’t been given a date for this airdrop, but it may not happen until the end of this Christmas event.

In this event, landowners will be able to build buildings. Then, every player can collect resources from land plots by paying a few $UM to the landowner. Players can collect resources with the help of the UMibot which must have energy. Its energy then replenishes over time. The collected resources can then be used to complete quests and get rewards like:

• Keys to Open UMiboxes (Boxes that have NFT Clothes)

The community can also count on leaderboards that will reward participants from a 10,000 USD pool in $UM.

Wearing NFT Clothes will give players bonuses while playing in First Explorers. This was a way of rewarding the early birds of Continuum World. NFT land won’t be necessary to play but, obviously, by owning one of these assets holders will earn extra rewards. Continuum World’s assets are currently being sold on Open Sea.

Unfortunately, this is not a demo nor a playtest. The event is just a mini-game and will be played through a dashboard where players will have to log in a few times a day to do a few clicks. But, accordingly to the project’s roadmap, the Alpha will be here this year and ‘First Explorers’ will be live until then.

Personally, I do not like it and I feel like Continuum World looks like a Facebook game that will cure your insomnia forever. For me, it is too simple and is not my type of game. I think in web3 gaming there are WAY better options.

But, it might be the type of game that appeals to casual players who are into really simple farming and breeding games. Anyway, Facebook games like FarmVille DID went viral back in the day so Continuum World might have a shot. UMis are the player characters in Continuum World. Everyone gets an UMi and a variety of free customization options. From facial expressions to hairstyles to clothing, players have a lot of control over their UMi’s appearance. But for those who want something different or exclusive, then the Continuum World UMi Box sale might be for you!

The UMi Boxes for sale now officially referred to as the ORIGIN Edition, are limited to 12,000 boxes total. Boxes come in three varieties — bronze, silver, and gold. 2500 tokens for a Bonze Box, 500 for Silver, and 12,500 for Gold! Prices are in $UM tokens. Each wallet may purchase up to five of each Box type.

UMi Boxes contain equipable items for the UMis. Every box contains five random items. Silver and gold boxes have greater chances of containing rarer items. Items from the Boxes come in rarities of uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. All equipment from this sale belongs to one of 15 different Collections. Each Collection encompasses five clothing items. The collections are themed around Continuum World professions such as miners or fishermen. The more items from a single collection that you wear, the more bonuses you receive from the items.

UMi Editor and Photo Booth

With this sale also comes the release of the UMi editor, allowing players to customize their appearance, and a Photo Booth feature. The UMi editor offers seven different body appearance categories and eight clothing and accessory slots. Players receive free access to many common options, but higher rarity clothing and accessories have to be found in boxes or purchased from the markets. Appearances are not locked. Players can change how their UMi looks at any time.

Once a player has customized their UMi, it’s time to move on to the Photo Booth! The Photo Booth allows players to pose their UMi for a screenshot which they can then add as a profile picture, download, and share on social media. This feature is well-integrated into the customization experience and is a nice way to let players get a variety of different screenshots of their characters.

After plenty of delays, Continuum confirmed the Sale Date for their plots: 

January 22nd–24th: Pre-Sale for Original stakers (previous to Dec. 18 th) (opens 5PM UTC)

January 23rd & 24th: Pre-Sale for New stakers (from Dec. 18th)

January 25th: Public Binance sale

The team will establish the LAND price in $UM, valued at a minimum of 0.10$, as this has been the average price during the last month.

What if I didn’t stake $UM

Continuum World‘s native Token $UM is a strong, multifunctional utility and payment Token. It is the lubricant of the world.

It will serve as the native in-game currency within the ecosystem and also as the governance and staking resource.

Other than the most important utility of the game, Lands, you’ll be able to use $UM to play the game and buy in-game assets.

Consider buying multiple Lands to resell them later on in order to gain access to additional tools, gears, and utilities once the Gameplay will be ready. 

The $UM token took some serious hits during the past after continuous delays in development. Most noticeably, Continuum World postponed the Sale Date multiple times to optimize the loading time of their map.

However, fear not! If you still want to join in, wait until the 25th of January and you’ll be able to purchase the lands anyway. Of course, the price will likely be higher, and more valuable properties might not be up for sale.

Continuum World uses a star system to classify the value of a plot of land, from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the most valuable plots available.

Lands are made up of biomes. Each land consists of 1 to 3 random biomes, based on its size. Small lands only have a single biome, medium sized lands have three, and large lands, five. There are six biome types in total, Forest, Grassland, Rocky, Glacial, Volcanic, and rarest of all, Mystical. Biomes are randomly chosen for each land and can be any mixture of the available types.

To add an additional layer of depth to lands, each biome can come in one of three rarities (I, II, and III) and one of three richness levels (regular, abundant, and wealthy). Rarity determines what type a resources a biome contains. Higher rarity means more rare resources. Some resources are only found in the higher rarity biomes. Richness determines how much of the resources the land contains. Higher richness = more resources. More resources = more chances for a rare or legendary spawn. So a Rarity III, Wealthy Richness biome would be one of the best to find!

How do I purchase Land in Continuum World?

This sale will be on the official Continuum World site. Each land receives a 5 star rating based on its characteristics. Pricing for the land varies based on the star rating. All Continuum World land is sold for $UM ONLY! Interested buyers should stock up on $UM early on the Matic network. The list below shows the relative USD equivalent prices.

• 1 star — USD $25 equivalent
• 2 stars —USD $50 equivalent
• 3 stars — USD $75 equivalent
• 4 stars — USD $100 equivalent
• 5 stars — USD $150 equivalent

As this is officially a pre-sale, there is some restriction on who can buy lands. To join this land sale, you must be staking $UM, the official token for Continuum World. The game requires staking at least 500 $UM for Bronze level access, all the way up to 10,000 for the top tier, Platinum. Each higher tier staking level allows more land purchases. Bronze tiers can purchase 1 land, Silver 3, Gold 5, and Platinum 10. The team warns against using multiple accounts to try and purchase additional lands!

Land, What is it Good For?

Land is for gathering resources safely. Otherwise players must gather in the cities, where there are no rare resources, or journey out into the Wildlands and risk dangerous encounters! Landowners receive a percentage of all the harvests from other players on their lands. Owning a land with desirable and rare resources could prove to be extremely lucrative!

Also, Landowners have the opportunity to construct various buildings to generate power, produce resources, craft items, and more. Many resources need tools to harvest properly. Presumably, at least some of those tools will be player crafted.

As another source of potential income, players pay fees for using other’s buildings. An industrious landowner could potentially create a set of useful buildings to attract more players to harvest their lands, setting up a nice passive income!

Virtual land ownership has been a hot commodity for the past year or two in the blockchain world. With the team’s plan to continue creating additional buildings and perks for land, I imagine that plots in Continuum World will be in high demand.

In Continuum the biomes determine the rarity. There will be common forests, uncommon rocky areas, rare glacial and volcanic biomes and very rare mystical ones. Their rarity will determine which exclusive resources the biomes produce. Aside from the rarity a biome can produce a regular amount of resources, but also abundant or even wealthy. That’s another attribute that will determine the value of your land.

Pricing for the upcoming land sale will happen with UM tokens. The price will be determined by the number of stars a land has.
