After very disappointing results from their land sale last month, Chainmonsters announced today that they were pausing development. Many new games were launched in the play to earn heyday of early 2021, but unfortunately, not all will survive and thrive.

Among all of the news about new mints, alphas, releases, and other signs of a gowing web3 gaming scene, there is sometimes also sad news. In this case, it’s the demise of Chainmonsters, a Pokemon styled game.

Launched with a Genesis sale back in 2021, Chainmonsters has been unable to raise any additional venture capital funding over the past two years. Instead they were mostly running off of the income from that original sale. And when their new land sale in March of 2023 had a very lackluster performance, the writing was on the wall. No longer able to even afford to keep the game servers running, Chainmonsters is officially shutting down, though they still hold out hope for securing additional funding in the future and rebooting their game.

And while pausing development usually signals the end of a game, Chainmonsters seems intent on trying to resurrect the project sometime in the future. The Chainmonsters team says that all game an account progress is backed up. So if they do revive the game, players will be able to start right where they left off.

I’m sure that this was a a very painful announcement to make. But, I do have to give kudos to the Chainmonsters team for speaking up. There are a lot of other independent developers that just kind of disappear without ever saying anything to their playerbase.

And so we wish the best of luck to the Chainmonsters team. Perhaps, some day in the not too distant future, we’ll be talking about their victorious return!

Not too long from now, Chainmonsters will hold a sale for a very limited number of land plots. With each one representing an entire island, owning a Land NFT in Chainmonsters will surely be a mark of status among the playerbase!

Apologies for the late notice on this sale! In less than 13 hours from now, on March 15th, 6pm CET, Chainmonsters will sell the first land plot NFTs for their creature catching and taming game. With their own island to work with, land plot owners will have many more options for housing construction than the standard players. And on top of that, they can also invite friends over to admire their construction and decorative skills!

Each Land NFT in Chainmonsters represents an island in-game. And though all players will have access to their own housing, only 3,000 islands will exist. Players will be able to customize their islands with furniture and other decorations, which other players can visit and admire.

Islands may also come with special artifact treasures or blessing effects that provide a bonus in the housing system. The housing system will include an ever growing selection of items and progression, fed by resources gathered in the game through playing and farming.

On the eve of their official launch, Chainmonsters announced that they were moving from the Flow blockchain to Immutable X. Soon, players will be able to mint NFTs from the game, and it was important to make sure that the game was setup in the right space for their needs.

The Chainmonsters team released a statement explaining their thought process behind the move. Part of the appeal of Immutable X is the ongoing creation and implementation of developer tools, including the recently announced Immutable Passport. These tools allow the team to spend more of their time focusing on developing the gameplay and making game updates.

We’ve seen a lot of chain jumping as more layer 2 and other scaling solutions come online and apps seek to find the best solutions for their particular needs. And the chains that can manage to bring in these development teams and hold onto them will be the ones with a better chance at longevity.

And really, this is the best time to make this change for Chainmonsters, asthey have their early access launch coming up on March 6th. This is no alpha or beta launch. This is the official launch for the game! From that point on, all game progress will be permanent, and players will also be able to mint their Chainmons, storing their stats on the blockchain and enabling trade between players.

a cute little Chainmon!

In addition, Chainmonsters announced that their game will be available in the Epic Games store! Much like sidechains and layer2 solutions, distribution platforms are beginning to establish themselves in the web3 world. The world of web3 gaming is growing and evolving rapidly. Stay with us to keep up with the latest news and announcements!

B-Side Games, the developer of Pokemon-like MMORPG Chainmonsters, has announced its Beta Phase 2 updates. The Flow blockchain-based game released its first beta in December last year and recently released the iOS and Android versions of the game. The Beta Phase 2 updates include interesting features such as the Chainmon Demo version, refurbished Chainmon designs, UI adjustments, mobile optimizations, and more.

Phase 2 Updates

The B-Side Games team has announced that a Chainmonsters Demo version will be launched soon for Android, iOS, PC, and Mac. The demo version will help players get an idea about the gameplay, which will help developers test the game. The demo is a part of the Beta Phase 2 cycle and will be available for a limited period till the main version 1.0 is announced. The Chainmonsters demo version will be released with exciting gameplay and graphics in the coming weeks. In addition, the Beta Phase 2 testing will help developers collect important feedback from players about the gameplay experience.

Chainmonsters New Texture Phase 2 Update

The developers have also worked on the appearance of 3D Chainmons, making them more realistic. In addition, the new texture of the monsters makes them fit into the natural background of the game and have a friendly nature. Finally, some UI adjustments have also been made with the introduction of hand-drawn cards that will be used in Squad and Storage screens so that you can view your Chainmons army.

Mobile optimizations have been made after the Beta phase 1 review, and the game’s visuals have been upgraded from previous versions. The game will now run at stable 30+ FPS on all devices. The team is working on achieving higher FPS rates. A cinematic cutscene system is added that will accompany dialogues and characters in the game. Animated sequences will make the story quests more interesting and visually appealing.

Chainmonsters, the upcoming Pokemon-like MMORPG, will soon open up the second phase of its beta version, while the Phase 1 beta closed on April 15. The game’s alpha and beta versions were available to players who had early access. Chainmonsters is developed by B-Side Games and is the most anticipated gaming project on the Flow blockchain.

New features in Beta phase 2

In Beta Phase 1, players could test the game on all platforms, including Android, iOS, and PC/Mac. The Chainmonsters team understood from the Phase 1 beta that players want to play new content simultaneously without delay on different platforms. For this to happen, the team needs to have a “Stress Test” scenario which means many players will play the game simultaneously.

These “Stress Test” events will occur throughout the year and focus on multiple key mechanics and features like Open World battles, Story Quests, Dungeons, and Social and Friend Features. Access to these events will be unrestricted, and anyone with a game account will be able to participate. This gives the development team the chance to get maximum players playing simultaneously.

Chainmonsters Closed Beta Details

Beta phase 2 will focus on testing different aspects of the gameplay and platform. Phase 2 will also bring the participation rewards feature. As more and more players join the game’s testing, more rewards will be announced. The reward system has not been revealed yet by the developers.

What about Closed Beta Pass holders?

The closed beta pass holders will continue to receive access to various tests and activities throughout the year. Players who have the Closed Beta Pass will be given one-week early access to the main launch allowing them to experience the full game beforehand. Close Beta Pass holders will also gain early access to Phase 2 for a week.

Chainmonsters Beta phase 2 reveal

Phase 2 will be released on all platforms: Android, iOS, PC and Mac. Beta Phase 2 will be revealed on a live stream on April 26, 2022, you can tune in at 9 PM CET on the official Youtube channel of Chainmonsters.

What is Chainmonsters?

chainmonsters closed beta screenshot game world

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. It uses the Flow blockchain and currently runs on Windows and MacOS. Players compete against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Chainmonsters began as a top-down 2D MMORPG, but has since grown into a full-fledged, 3D online role playing game that can potentially compete with Pokémon. Each Chainmon has base stats, and players upgrade them using gemstones, flowers, materials and Chip Dollars. Players complete daily quests to earn points towards a Season Pass.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them are only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time. These monsters come from different elements, nine in total. These are generally home to a certain island or region: pyro, hydro, nature, electro, air, cryo, geo, and crystal.

Each of those mons has several basic attributes: health points (HP), attack, defense, elemental attack, elemental defense, speed, and stamina points (SP). In addition, each mon has individual values for each stats, which means that mons can have different stats even though they look the same.

Available on both Windows and MacOS, the Chainmonsters Closed Beta launched in mid-December. Players with beta access can enter the world and began capturing, training, and leveling up their Chainmons. And best of all, any progress you make in beta is permanent!

The Pokemon genre has always seemed a great fit for the blockchain space. And while there are plenty of creature training/combat style games in development, Chainmonsters becomes one of the first to go live with their Closed Beta. Though still in beta status, all progress from this point forward is permanent! Players keep their mons and anything else they find. Anyone playing now is already gathering resources, adding new Mons to their stables, and leveling them up!

The beta is somewhat limited. Only 10 Chainmons are available. Minting, where players can push their NFTs to the blockchain to sell or trade, is also not yet live. That feature should go live once Open Beta starts, which is planned for Q1 or Q2 of 2022. Also, expect to run into some bugs and glitches. Getting stuck in the terrain seems to be a relatively common issue. Stuck players can DM a moderator on their Discord for help.

season pass rewards
Some Season Pass rewards

The game is free to play, but features a ‘Season Pass’. Season passes allow players to earn special rewards that are not available to those without them. These can be resources, coins, even special accessories and customizations! And, once the season ends, those items can no longer be obtained through the game, guaranteeing a limited, and perhaps valuable, print for each. Players purchase Season Passes with in-game Diamonds. Diamonds are purchased on their website and cannot be transferred.

Players complete daily quests in-game. Each quest finished provides experience towards leveling up the Season Pass and receiving more rewards. The Beta also features 2v2 PvP battles and a functioning, external marketplace.

Bside Games has announced that their monster catching MMORPG Chainmonsters will go live in closed beta on Monday, December 6th at 10am UTC across all regions. Every with an account on Chainmonsters.com and having the ‘Beta Access’ checkmark, will have access to the closed beta test.

On December 6th you don’t get access to the Chainmonsters closed beta with a code, but instead gamers will need an NFT. This means that NFT owners can always sell their access key on the public market, even though it will be useless once the beta ends. Everybody who participated in the Alpha, Genesis sale, or has a FlowFest Adventure bundle, can also join the closed beta.

The closed beta will allow players to participate in the game before Chainmonsters goes into open beta in 2022. Players can capture monsters, level them up, upgrade them and earn Season Pass rewards. All progress from the closed and open beta will persist into the full game launch. Chainmonsters will also give away thousands of Closed Beta access NFTs to community members through their social media.

What’s new in the closed beta?

Once upon a time Chainmonsters started as a top-down 2D MMORPG, but it has grown into a full-fledged 3D online role playing game that can potentially compete with Pokémon. Each chainmon has base stats, and players can upgrade them using gemstones, flowers, materials and Chip Dollars. Of course the real deal breaker is that captured mons can be converted into NFTs using Mint Tokens, including with the Season Pass.

With the new battle system, Chainmonsters wants to set itself apart from the competition. Compared to the previous versions of the game, of course the battle look way more awesome. However, battles also have a lot more features. In the closed beta elements like Stamina and its influence on ultimates comes into play, while certain species come with certain tactical advantages or disadvantages.

In addition the team has added a whole load of new designs, making the environment more vivid than ever before. They will even add a vegetation engine, allowing dynamic wind effects to make the world look even better. In the coming months the team will expand on the story and quests for the game. B-Side Games is looking to expand their team with more developers, to add more improvements to Chainmonsters in the many months to come.

B-Side Games is gearing up for the closed beta of Chainmonsters, set to launch early December at the latest, and they will introduce all kinds of improvements. In their most recent development update the team looks at the development progress made throughout October and November. One of the biggest changes? The revamped batle system.

What is Chainmonsters?

Chainmonsters is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game inspired by classic games like The Legend of Zelda and Pokémon. It runs on PC and mobile devices. Players will be competing against each other. Every player is an agent working for a corporation. There’s a mysterious disease that makes all creatures more aggressive, and there’s a weird crystal in the world. Guess who needs to find out? But can players trust the corporation? Who knows.

Players will need to acquire all kinds of little monsters. Some of them can only be found in certain regions, others only for a limited time.
