You can already pick up a Boss Fighters Rowdy NFT and use it as your character skin in-game, but the team is ready to kick things up a notch with their unique, generative collection of Alpha Fighter NFTs!

There are actually three kinds of Alpha NFTs — Fighter, Weapon, and Boss Skins. They all come in four rarities, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Rarity has no gameplay effect. But for character skins, rarity does affect what selection of traits are used for generating the skin. That’s right, the Boss Fighters Alpha Fighter Skins will be generative, unique NFTs! Weapon and Boss Skins aren’t as exclusive, though they still have many different varieties and rarities available.

Boss Fighters Alpha Pass

But these Alpha Skins aren’t just for sale straight up. Players need to first purchase an Alpha Pass, and then earn their Skins by playing the game! Alpha Passes will go up for sale sometime soon through the Open Loot platform. Interested players will need to sign up for the waitlist using this form. Alpha Passes cost $15 for a rare, $60 for an epic, and $100 for a legendary, with varying chances of finding different rarities of Fighter skins. This is the only time these alpha skins will be made available.

There is also a free pass option, though it doesn’t include a Fighter skin as a reward. Those who want a free pass will still need to go through a whitelisting process and enter a Gleam campaign to try and win a slot. Watch the Boss Fighters social channels for more info on the free pass.

All of the passes also include access to the Closed Alpha and chances to earn Weapon Skins.

VR players receive their own special pass, the Alpha Boss Pass! These free passes reward owners with a Closed Alpha Key and two exclusive Boss skins.The Boss Fighters team will provide a form where players can submit their email address, and then follow a set of instructions to verify that they are a VR player.

These Passes open up the potential to unlock and mint the Fighter NFTs. Alpha Passes function as a battle passes, with rewards and perks unlocking as the player progresses.Once an item is unlocked, it immediately appears as a tradable NFT — no other work required!

An event known as ‘Big Playtime’ is scheduled to start on August 5th. At that point players can unpack their Pass and begin working on the unlocks!

During each season, players gain experience as they play, opening up new gear, cosmetics, and upgrades. All of these rewards are wiped between seasons, but players will have the option of spending game currency to mint certain items into an NFT. As the Boss players are the heart of the game, they will see increased rewards for participation in the game. This includes bonuses for playing on a regular basis.

The first character skin NFTs, known as the Rowdy collection, are available on the Solana network. However, the team recently announced a new partnership with Open Loot, and the NFTs will be transferred over to that platform in the near future.

Boss Fighters wants to bring a game show feel to the experience and encourages streaming. They want it to be a fun, eSport event for players and viewers. And so, the Boss Fighters team is already envisioning ways to encourage and reward viewers and audience participation.

Featuring a team of four players on PCs against a Boss player using a VR headset, Boss Fighters brings an interesting new gameplay to the web3 world, with plenty of opportunity for mayhem in their destructible environment arena!

Open beta is expected sometime in 2023. But meanwhile, we have a limited time playtest this weekend. Open to everyone, this playtest is free to join. Just signup on their website for a chance to receive a playtest key. I would imagine that there will be a higher demand for those willing and able to play the Boss.

Playing as a Boss requires a VR headset, giving the player a fully immersive experience as they smash their way through the town trying to find the pesky creatures who keep shooting at them! Destructible environments and simulated physics add an extra layer of fun to the carnage. However, if you plan on trying out your Boss skills, I recommend reading the alpha game guide to understand the controls.

This playtest will run in two sessions on April 18th, 2023. The first will be from 7-10pm GMT, and the second from 7-10pm EST. To acquire a key to the alpha, register on the Boss Fighters site and connect your Discord account. Emails will be sent out on the 8th for those accepted into the playtest.

The team promised a project focused on exciting gameplay and a whole new approach to NFT Gaming. By allowing players to enjoy Boss Fighters either with their own PC or with a VR headset, Boss Fighters will provide an immersive experience for all. The project aims to close the gap between VR, PC players, and crypto enthusiasts by providing unique benefits and experiences for each audience.

What is Boss Fighters?

The idea of the metaverse has always been linked to VR, but now we have a play-and-earn project with NFTs that will take this technology to the next level. It will achieve this by providing exciting gameplay where 5 brave players will face an almighty boss with their NFT avatars! 

They will need to rely on agility to run away from the boss while shooting it down at the same time. The boss, also controlled by a player, will rely on its size and brute force to destroy the surrounding environment and smash fighters with its huge arms! Fighters will be able to play with a VR headset, PC, and at some point in the future, via smartphone. In order to play with the boss, you will need to have a VR headset! At the moment, the cheapest VR headset is the Oculus Quest 2 which goes for around $300.

Boss Fighters is currently under development and has an alpha release planned for Q2/Q3 of 2022, initially for NFT holders only.

Play-and-Earn in Boss Fighters

Boss Fighters will bring its own NFT Collection and cryptocurrency, and both will have their utility.

Let’s start with the NFTs:

• Special Avatar
• Owners can get free collectible NFTs as Boss Fighters metaverse expands.
• VR Headsets will be raffled among lucky owners to join the battle on the VR side.
• Early access to game builds, exclusive in-game features, bonus rewards, and other perks that will be announced later
• Exclusive access to special tournaments with unique rewards and token prize pools
• Community royalties treasury access (half of the royalties from secondary market sales go to NFT owners)

The genesis NFT mint will happen on the 22^nd of April with the pre-sale 2 days before.

The native will be used to stake in certain pools in order to have access to more advanced game modes. The game will be free-to-play, but, in order to access these advanced game modes, you will need to grind your way up or you’ll have to buy tokens from other players.

Final thoughts

Boss Fighters is the first NFT game built as an action-packed asymmetric VR vs PC gaming experience. It is a fresh and innovative project on Solana, and, instead of copying some P2E model with a dual token economy, breeding and all the usual features we have in NFT Gaming projects, the team is crating a a unique game with their own signature.

Personally, I am eager to play as the boss with a VR headset and smash down some players using the surrounding environment to do so. It should be an epic experience!
