Blocklords launches into a new Community Beta, available to everyone. This beta is open now and runs through June 10th.

Blocklords is offering a number of prizes to the top performers in the Community Beta. One of those prizes is a special Discord role called the Founders Society. This role will be given to the top 100 players in regards to experience earned. It comes with a number of perks including an exclusive Discord channel, AMA sessions with the developers, and automatic whitelisting for future mints!

There are also prizes for those who farm the most resources, hold the most gold at the end of the event, and who import the most Heroes into the game. In addition, anyone who manages to complete the full experience track (10k experience) during this beta will receive a special Militia Hero.

And, we also have a special raffle for Polly Gunn, the first Legendary Hero from Blocklords on the Polygon blockchain. Legendary Lords can control entire regions of the map, extorting passive taxes from everyone in their domain. So this is a valuable NFT! Blocklords Gameplay

Blocklords is a town building, resource production game. Players manage their workers, harvest resources, and construct buildings. The game features a tutorial that guides the player through the beginning of the game.

Blocklords includes NFTs on both Polygon and the Immutable X chains. Players can import their Heroes from either location into the game. Attaching a hero to a group of workers increases their productivity and other stats. The game feature an event system, which, in my experience, is mostly annoying in that your lose resources more often than not. Hopefully they tweak their events to be more meaningful and fun in the future.

The game is still in early development, so there is a limited amount to do. Once you finish the tutorial you’ve reached the limit of new buildings to construct. After that, it’s just grinding for resources and working on completing the quests. Blocklords includes daily, weekly, and seasonal quests.

The team is releasing regular updates and has plans for expanded cities, interconnected markets, wars, PvP, and more!

The Legendary heroes are limited in supply and have unique traits that are useful in the game’s final launch. These traits are linked to the game’s founding lore and pass through to their descendants, giving players access to the legacy and the rewards that these Heroes bring. The Legendary Heroes are the “first Lords and Ladies of the realm” and provide immediate access to these noble roles in the early access. To claim a Hero, players must exchange banner chests received during pre-registration.

Players receive Banner Chests by pre-registering for early access. The chests contain five banners that can be exchanged to claim a Hero and get a spot in the early access. The rarer the banner chests, the rarer the Heroes obtained. There are three types of chests – Basic, Silver, and Gold. The basic chests can be obtained by just pre-registering for early access, and silver chests can be won by participating in community events on Discord. The ways to obtain a gold chest will be released later on.

The basic chest contains 5 tradable basic banners and may contain a silver banner. The silver chest contains 5 tradable rare banners, including silver and bronze. The gold chest contains very rare 5 tradable banners with 1 guaranteed gold banner.

About BLOCKLORDS

BLOCKLORDS is a blockchain medieval strategy MMO game that allows players to create heroes, conquer cities, trade items, earn taxes, and create a user-driven economy. In addition, players will be able to earn income from in-game activities.

Metaking Studios, the team behind it, promised a web3 experience that seamlessly integrates with the game without any need for a complex setup. 

In March 2022, Blocklords was presented at the Game Developer Conference in California, and their booth attracted about 17,000 for a live demo of the game. Players were able to immerse themselves in the Blocklords metaverse through VR, and experience first-hand the freedom of choice and narrative of the game. 

The team members behind Blocklords worked on AAA games before and have experience in big studios such as Ubisoft and EA.

What is Blocklords?

Blocklords aims to be the first AAA title mixing legendary strategy games like Age of Empires, Total War, Crusader Kings, and Mount & Blade. They have taken the best of Age of Empires (developing civilization), Total War (Battle), and Crusader Kings (Political strategy/intrigue) to bring the best strategy game experience ever to everyone. 

The integration with web3 comes in the form of monetization, with tokenomics that will empower players to fully own their assets and earn from their skillset but will not be the core concept of the game. 

Metaking confirmed their NFTs will be hosted on the Immutable X Ethereum side-chain, the same one used by Gods Unchained, the popular TCG with play to earn mechanics. 

The first public beta of the gameplay is set to release within 2022. Some screenshots showing how the game looks are already available on their website. 

When asked what makes them different, the developers said “Assets in Blocklords are not limited to just the native tokens in the game, as the core gameplay loop incorporates a variety of different mechanics to spend, delegate, and earn different assets. Two examples we’re willing to disclose are feeding and taxing.”

The spoiler makes us believe there will be never-seen-before mechanics that will make it easier and more interesting to profit from playing Blocklords. We could see side-mechanics such as taxation become crucial to divide earnings in a territory, and feeding as a core principle for burning tokens. 

The game already attracted investment from Animoca Brands, Delphi Ventures, and dozens of other investment firms and venture capitalists. Their partner company, Seascape, is a GameFi platform helping developers ship their games on web3.

Blocklords Giveaway

The community behind Blocklords is gathering quickly on their Discord and Twitter profiles, and Metaking started rewarding their most active subscribers with a Gleam competition.

Despite the intention, there’s no mention of a launch date. However, Seascape Network is known for moving fast. So maybe we will play Blocklords on our mobile devices within the next few months.

But also keep an eye on decentralized finance in Blocklords. Liquidity mining will be their first step. Instead of introducing users to liquidity pools and other terminology, Seascape Network wants to gamify the experience of liquidity mining and incorporate that into Blocklords. They acknowledge that liquidity mining itself is already gamified finance, but will make it an element of actual gameplay.

The majority of games are being played on mobile devices. That’s why Seascape wants to bring their flagship title to smartphones and tablets. Since the last quarter of 2020, the studio started implementing DeFi elements into their game. This will benefit all gamers, but financially this will especially be beneficial to those in developing countries.

The development company is working on a lot more projects. One of their upcoming products is the Scape Store. This game store allows cross-chain transactions of in-game assets. Because the developers built it using Substrate, the platform will connect to for example Polkadot, Algorand and Ethereum.
