On July 7th, 2023, Star Atlas will close down their Escape Velocity game. Escape Velocity is a browser-based moving and scanning mini-game that uses the Solana blockchain for all of its calculations. By scanning for loot, players can find Star Atlas resources and even NFTs such as Ships and Mining Claims!

Escape Velocity is free to play, though it does require a refundable deposit of 1000 ATLAS tokens. The Star Atlas team also announced that they discovered a few players using bots to play the game for them. These players will have their rewards capped. Any extra resource rewards they accumulated will be distributed to all the other players who engaged with Escape Velocity.

Going forward, anyone who wishes to gather Star Atlas resources will need with a Mining Claim. Alternatively, players can pick up one of the new Mining Ships that were just announced!

Armstrong Mining Ships

As they close down Escape Velocity, Star Atlas opens a new sale for Mining Ships, vehicles dedicated to extracting resources.

We don’t have any details yet about how many resources owners can expect to extract. But we do know that they can be staked either in Faction Fleet to earn ATLAS tokens, or in Faction Claims to earn resources. Faction Fleet and Faction Claims are pre-launch staking systems that encourage players to hold onto their Star Atlas NFTs in exchange for being able to harvest tokens and resources.

These new mining ships come in three sizes, small, medium, and capital. The smallest option, the Armstrong IMP Tip, has a total supply of 10,200 and costs $860 USDC ($430 USDC if you make an early purchase)

And, as seems to be the standard practice for Star Atlas, the ultimate mining ship, the legendary, capital-class, Armstrong IMP, costs quite a pretty penny. $27,500 USDC to be exact! Though, if you manage to pick one up in the first tranche, you can acquire this ship for a mere $13,750.

For all of the mining ships, Star Atlas plans to sell them in three groups, or tranches. The first 30% of each ship type will be in the first group and sell for a 50% discount. The second 30% sells for the base price, while the final 40% of the supply will cost purchasers an extra 10% premium on the base price.

Mining ships should be available in the official Star Atlas marketplace later today.

What is Star Atlas?

The year is 2620. Three factions, MUD, ONI, and USTUR, exist in an uneasy truce across the galaxy. Players explore unknown systems, delve into rocks and earth to acquire resources to build, expand, and conquer! Will you be a fighter, testing your mettle in the arena games? Or an explorer in the depths of space, far beyond the reach of any help? Perhaps a shipwright, creating objects of beauty and technological prowess? The choices of turn-based, strategic, web3 games is pretty thin. But starting on June 16th, we’ll be able to play a beta version of Aradena Battlegrounds, and maybe even win some prizes along the way!

This event, known as Beta Showdown 2, will run for nine days, from Friday, June 16th, through Sunday, June 25th. Anyone can join. All you have to do is sign up for an account on their website! Aradena Battlegrounds is free to play and available through the Elixir app.

Prizes for the Beta Showdown 2 are broken into two groups. Fifty percent of the prize pool will go to the top 200 players based on a leaderboard system. Players earn points by playing matches — three points for a win and one point for a loss. If a player leaves the match before the fourth turn, they will receive no points and the match counts as a win for their opponent. The second prize pool is for those with the best win rate. Everyone who completes at least 30 games will be eligible. The top 200 players for this pool will also receive prize rewards. First prize in both pools wins $1000, with the reward scaling down from there.

The team will be monitoring matches for win trading / feeding and other unsporting behaviour.

In addition, there are also a number of ‘milestone achievements’ available to everyone. Win one game to receive 25 Silver, a Silver Card Pack, and 5 of each Commodity. Earn 10 points to win 50 more silver, 20 points for another Silver Card Pack, and 40 points for an additional Silver Card Pack, and a Genesis Pack! Those who accumulate 100 or more points will earn two Genesis Card Packs, plus a Secret Cosmetic NFT! There are only about 300 Genesis Packs available for this event, so they will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

What is Aradena Battlegrounds?

Aradena Battlegrounds is a free to play, turn-based, fantasy, strategy combat game. Similar to Voxie Tactics in playstyle, two players field teams of characters, who then fight across a square-based battlefield.

Before heading off to combat, players must assemble a deck of cards, made of Units, Spells, and Warriors. Warriors are the Genesis NFTs of the Ardena collection and provide various bonuses and abilities. Players build and train their army of NFTs and battle other players for loot chest rewards. Loot chests include tokens and NFT collectables which can be traded at the in-house marketplace, or added to a player’s army.

Aradena will feature a merge-up / shining feature similar to Gods Unchained. Players can merge multiple copies of a card to create a shinier version. Gold and higher level shines can be traded on NFT markets.

The Ardana team also wants to add a breeding system, a scholarship program, and land-based gameplay.

Aradenean Gold (AG) is the utility and governance token for Aradena Battlegrounds which was just launched recently via Seedify. A staking system for the AG tokens should open soon.

A lot of web games talk about player ownership of the game and player governance. But Planet IX is taking things a step further by giving players an ownership stake in some of the basic game functions! This ownership comes in the form of MetaShare NFTs, shares for the in-game corporations. Each corporation is associated with a specific task and earns income from players using those features. This includes game functions such as Waste refining, crafting, raffles, or, in this case, the in-game marketplace!

Though the total number of shares for Netempire will total 9,999, only 1,998 of those are available in this upcoming sale. And owning a piece of Netempire early on could prove to be extremely lucrative. Players who stake their shares earn rewards from the treasury pool. Netempire refills it’s treasury from the NFT sales associated with the corporation (40% of the sales value), as well as commissions from the in-game marketplace. So as long as players are using the game markets for trades, then this corporation should have no trouble keeping its treasury full!

The Planet IX team says that the Netempire treasury pool already has over 500,000 IXT tokens in it from the sales of Netempire Genesis NFTs, making those first few months of staking income particularly valuable!

The mint will be at https://planetix.com/mint and each share will cost 0.08 ETH, payable in ETH, USDT, MATIC or IXT tokens. Each wallet may mint as many shares as they would like.

In addition to this mint, players can also hold onto Netempire Genesis NFTs, which will provide an airdrop of one Netempire Metashare to each owner. What is Planet IX?

Planet IX is a complex mining / staking game built on the Polygon network. Players stake Land NFTs, or PIX, to hexes around their central base to generate resources. The basic resource is Waste, which players can sell back to the game. To begin building players need contracts for each base level they wish to expand on.

Players stake PIX into the hexes around their Mission Control to generate resources. If a player has enough PIX that are adjacent to each other on the world map, they can combine them to create Territories, which provide extra bonuses. On top of that, players can construct facilities to produce Energy and make other improvements on their tiles, craft various facilities and blueprints, and stake Energy to earn IXT tokens.

Players also own shares of the in-game corporations earning passive revenue from in-game transactions.

Planet IX is not free to play. Players need to own at least one PIX to play. Supposedly they will have some sort of free to play option in the future. But for now, you need Land NFTs to play. Players must own PIX, to then stake them into their accessible plots. These plots then generate Waste, which the player can sell for tokens to build up their plots and start producing other resources.

Ascenders held their land sale just last month, though it was a bit of a dissapointing turnout, with less than half of the available plots purchased. But the Ascenders team is still moving forward, releasing an alpha playtest for Ascenders Simulation, a base building game in which these land NFTs will play a vital part!

This playtest doesn’t offer any immediate rewards. And all of the player progress will be wiped before beta, which will be on the mainnet. However, the team does promise to airdrop rewards to alpha testers later based on the time and effort they put into helping test, reporting bugs, and providing feedback.

What is Ascenders Simulation?

Ascenders Simulation is a companion game to the Ascenders MMO game. Much like Illuvium Zero for Illuvium Overworld. And it features the same sort of base building, resource gathering, trading, and crafting features.

Players choose whether to side with Olympus City or Alexandria. And though this choice will affect available resources, players can still use all of their Premium Land NFTs, even if those associated with the other faction. In fact, the Land NFTs, or Premium Lands, act as an extension for the Home Land, which is the base starting point for all players. Players must clear debris, upgrade their base, unlock new features and buildings, and build a portal to access construction on their Premium Lands. Larger size land NFTs provide more options for construction and resource extraction.

Ascenders Simulation uses a currency called AGEM. AGEM is used for pretty much everything in-game. Players can sell items to the city merhcants to acquire AGEM tokens. Players will also need a variety of resources, both raw and processed, to grow and build their city.

The ultimate constructions in Ascenders Simulation are Components. Components will be needed to craft SFTs, items that can boost production of plots. Components will also have futher uses in future updates.

The playtest is scheduled to open on June 8th, 2023. You will need a land plot to participate. Plots can purchased from Open Sea for about 0.035 ETH

What is Ascenders?

Ascenders is a sci-fi / fantasy, action MMO in development on the Arbitrum blockchain. Featuring an open world experience on an alien planet where players must build up their civilization, Ascenders also offers instanced dungeons and PvP. Ascenders will focus heavily on crafting. Players won’t find ready to equip items when out adventuring. Instead they will find parts and resources which can be combined into the items.

Play and earn takes a more prominent seat in the land of Eternal Dragons with the introduction of weekly leaderboards for PvE Quests, and daily leaderboards for those engaging in PvP combat!

Eternal Dragons is now running a weekly PvE quest event with rewards for the top 100 players. Each quest offers a specific arena challenge, leaving it up to the players to figure out how to progress as far as they can. The current PvE quest, Dust Storm, features increasingly strong AI teams of Tanker and Slayer enemies and runs until June 2nd. The top two players win Eternium and Descendant Egg NFTs while the rest of the top 100 earn tokens based on their final placement.

For the PvP players, Eternal Dragons introduced a new, daily PvP leaderboard. These leaderboards reward the top 10 players every day with USDC tokens. Eternal Dragons also runs longer format tournaments, having just recently completed their second round that included nearly $10,000 USDC in the prize pool!

Eternal Dragons is still in alpha (Alpha 0.2 to be exact), but it is free, open to all, and available to play via webpage or as an app on Android devices. Even though this is an uto-battler, there is quite a bit of depth to assembling your team. And since the game is free to play, this is an excellent play and earn opportunity for anyone who likes competitive strategy games!

And for the true Eternal Dragons fans, the team is hosting a convention in Hamburg, Germany on July 1st!

What is Eternal Dragons?

Eternal Dragons is an eSport, auto-battler game built on the Solana blockchain with Dragons as combat units. With numerous different classes, position-based abilities, and elemental affinities, Eternal Dragons is sure to offer plenty of room for different strategies and team builds. All units have basic stats of hit points, elemental power (magic damage), and physical power (physical damage), though Dragons tend to be stronger than their human counterparts.

In addition, units in Eternal Dragons have a number of other attributes that affect their combat abilities. First each has a default skill. This is the basic, and most often used skill for that Dragon. It can be an attack, heal, buff/debuff, or even some combination. Units also have prime stats they prefer. This will matter when players add items to units, as matching items to prime stats will provide better combat value. Dragons also have Skill Sets and Class Skills. Skill Set is a collection of abilities. Only Dragons with matching Skill Sets can use those abilities. And, as you might guess, Class Skills are specific to certain Dragon Classes.

Also, each Dragon class has certain other classes that it enjoys pairing with. These are known as “neighboring dragons”. Neighboring Dragons share Skill Sets. And they will tend to have class skills and abilities that harmonize well together. Dragons also receive bonuses from sharing affinities with teammates. Each unit has an associated affinity such as Earth, Air, or Void.

There is definitely a lot of strategic decision making involved in the game!

This new update for Illuvium Zero officially brings us to Alpha 2.0, and Season One of the gameplay. This season is special because it’s the first to allow players to find and mint blueprints!

All previous game data has been wiped, so all players will have to start their base building from scratch.

To get to the point where they can mint blueprints, players will need to build and grow their base. They will need a Singularity Scanner to track down Illuvial biodata, a Data Bank to store their finds, and a Materials Lab to try and manufacture the blueprints. These are all advanced buildings and will require players to spend some time playing the game.

There will be a minting window opened towards the end of Season One, allowing players to mint up to 15 blueprints per land plot. These Blueprints will be used at a later point to craft items for use in Illuvium Overworld.

Illuvium Zero is still only open to land owners. Players can purchase land plots on the IlluviDex, with the current floor being just over $500 USD.

Illuvium Zero Gameplay

Illuvium Zero is a game about base building, resource extraction, and blueprint creation. Players choose between producing Fuel (which will be used to power players in Illuvium Overworld), resources to expand and craft with, or blueprints, used for creating NFT skins for Overworld and Arena.

There are three types of Elements and three types of Fuel resources. Plots have varying numbers of resources sites based on their rarity. Some plots also have Landmarks, which affect production of the associated Elements or Fuel. And while owning a plot focused on one type of resource production may be an advantage in some ways, owning different types of Sites can help with converting resources. Players use Elements and Fuel for item production, building upgrades and research. Research opens opportunities to create blueprint NFTs. Blueprint NFTs will be used to create skins for the other Illuvium games.

Illuvium Zero provides many strategic options and decisions for the players. Everything from placement of buildings (some work better together, others don’t) to resource management to working the markets to researching Illuvials for blueprints is an important decision point.

Illuvium Zero will offer a free to play option at launch. But players without land can never extract any tokens or NFTs from the game. They also say that land can be managed with just a few minutes a day. But I imagine that those who spend more time micro-managing will see much better results.

Mojo Melee is currently in open beta, and just recently completed their special Chest mint as a reward to their players / testers. Now they’re ready to begin the launch of their seasonal content and have given us a roadmap for their plans over the next three months!

What’s in the Roadmap?

Unlike some other roadmaps, the one released by Mojo Melee includes a timeline! It all starts in June, when Mojo Melee plans to release Season 0 of their game. This season will last for 30 days and includes some new features such as the Premium Battle Pass (available when your NFT collection score is high enough), and a mobile version of the game. This will be a test of the full version of the game.

And after that, in July, we will have the official launch of season one! Season one will bring a new Champion to the game and two new Spellstones! We’ll also see skins for the Champions, and the ability to claim 3D, collectible versions of Champions that you own! Season one will include leaderboard rewards at the end as well. The live game still won’t be available on mobile at this point, but the mobile version should be in open beta testing. Players should also be able to claim their digital collectible Champions, and see them in battle.

Season one lasts for one month, followed immediately by Season Two in August. With the second season comes a new Premium Battlepass, and another new Champion and two Spellstones as well. Players will also be able to see their 3D Mojos in-game, including any customizations added. There will also be new arenas, a spectator mode, and, of course, end of season prizes!

How to Play Mojo Melee

Mojo Melee, is a fantasy themed, auto-battler, running on the Polygon blockchain. Players build teams consisting of 1 Mojo unit, 4 Champion units, and 2 SpellStones and fight for dominance in the arena!

Each team can bring up to two SpellStones to a match. Every Spellstone has a special ability. Spellstones fall into three groups — Attachments, which are put with a unit to provide it with the Spellstone’s ability, Offensive Spellstones which are placed on the opponents side and affect enemy units in their range, and Team Spellstones, which provide team bonuses.

Mojos have access to different Spellstones based on their subclass. Mojos are automatically deployed at the start of the battle and can be upgraded during a match like the other units. Players receive ten gold at the start of every round. Any gold not spent carries over to the next round. During the preparation phase, players use their gold to place units and Spellstones onto the battlefield. Players can upgrade units and Spellstones by purchasing additional copies and placing them on the same tile. Players can upgrade each unit and spellstone as many as three times.

Once both players are done preparing, the game enters auto-battle mode and the teams fight it out until only one is left or time runs out. Each unit type has a number of different stats including health, armor, attack damage, and even targeting priority. These all factor into the team’s behavior and results during a match.

Units have special abilities that can trigger when they gain enough Energy. Some Champions even start the match with full Energy! Spellstones activate once at the start of a round and immediately provide their buff or effect.

Blocklords launches into a new Community Beta, available to everyone. This beta is open now and runs through June 10th.

Blocklords Gameplay

Blocklords is a town building, resource production game. Players manage their workers, harvest resources, and construct buildings. The game features a tutorial that guides the player through the beginning of the game.

Blocklords includes NFTs on both Polygon and the Immutable X chains. Players can import their Heroes from either location into the game. Attaching a hero to a group of workers increases their productivity and other stats. The game feature an event system, which, in my experience, is mostly annoying in that your lose resources more often than not. Hopefully they tweak their events to be more meaningful and fun in the future.

The game is still in early development, so there is a limited amount to do. Once you finish the tutorial you’ve reached the limit of new buildings to construct. After that, it’s just grinding for resources and working on completing the quests. Blocklords includes daily, weekly, and seasonal quests.

The team is releasing regular updates and has plans for expanded cities, interconnected markets, wars, PvP, and more!

The focus of season 4 of Axie Origins seems to be new player experience. With new starter runes and charms, quicker progression at lower ranks, and the ability to upgrader starter Axies!

Axie Origins is still one of the most played games in the web3 gaming space. And their ongoing dedication to enhancing and improving the experience is a great sign for a game that has gone through a number of growing pains!

Season 4 Info

This season brings a new set of leaderboards and rewards, with over 111 thousand AXS token to be distributed as rewards. As with previous seasons, this season is divided up into three Eras, Rare, Epic, and Mystic. During each Era, the top 20,00 players receive a payout in mAXS tokens, with bonus, in-game prizes to the top million players.

Season 4 sees the introduction of a new mechanic. When playing a match, unused Energy will convert to Energy Fragments. Players can then use these Fragments to hold onto unplayed cards between rounds.

To enhance the overall user experience, the animation speed in Axie Origins the team has increased. They have also amped up Blitz mode, making the game run at 1.75x normal speed for those who like fast-paced contests!

Progression at lower ranks has been increased to encourage lower-ranked players. Meanwhile, higher ranked players will need to battle more often to maintain their position.

This season also brings a new feature for free to play players – the ability to level up the starter Axies! Players level up their starter Axies with Class Badges and Honor Medals, earned by completing daily and weekly missions. On top of that, players will also begin the season with a selection of starter Runes and Charms, allowing for more play customization right from the beginning.

Another added feature is a eSports mode. When toggled, all Runes and Charms are unlocked for the players, but any matches played in this mode won’t affect the player’s ranking.

What is Axie Origins?

Axie Origins is a creature battler and breeding game. Originally on the Ethereum network, Axie Infinity moved to the Ronin sidechain in 2021, and launched a staking system for their AXS governance token. In the game players use a team of three Axie NFTs to battle opponents in Adventure mode (PvE) and the Arena (PvP). Axies can be upgrade with Runes and Charms.

Rewards from the Arena include Smooth Love Potions (SLP) and AXS, the governance token for Axie Infinity.

Players use SLP to breed new Axies. Parent Axies can only produce offspring a limited number of times. Also, players can attach Runes and Charms found in PvE mode to provide boosts to Axies. Axie Infinity rebooted their main game in late 2022 with the launch of Axie Origins. They have also added a new growing and decorating mini-game for landowners.

This is kind of similar to Illuvium Zero, and hopefully Ascenders has similar plans to let players eventually create items that can be used in the larger, MMO game.
