Getting access to Phase of Beta 2 for Phantom Galaxies requires owning one of several NFTs. Anyone who holds a ‘Planet Genesis Mintpass’, a ‘The Hopeful’ NFT, or a ‘Zorran’s Favour’ NFT should now have access to the beta. Players can download the game and retrieve their beta codes on the Phantom Galaxies website.

Unlike the alpha, this testing phase doesn’t include any promised rewards. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if the team hands out a badge or some other sort of proof of participation item. But even without rewards, the game is actually fun to play!

What’s New in Beta 2?

This beta brings a number of new features to this space-based, mech-combat, starship-piloting, RPG. Starfighters have seen an overhaul across the board with new abilities and updated visuals. We also have a new game system around Heat management when piloting a starship. As players maneuver and fight, their ship begins to heat up. Overheat, and the ship is destroyed. Players will need to keep an eye on their Heat levels during combat missions and know when to back off and cool down before re-engaging!

This beta phase starts everyone fresh from the beginning again. And though there are some changes, it’s a familiar experience for anyone who played in the alpha test. For those new to Phantom Galaxies, the game is very user friendly. The story-based plotline walks you through learning different parts of the game through a series of quests as it builds up the danger and adds more options for the players.

And for those are looking for a social scene, it is now possible to meet up with other players on Halberd-001, the starting space station. The first multiplayer hub in the game has already seen some activity. Hopefully this feature will continue to grow into an active hangout scene for the Phantom Galaxies playerbase.

What is Phantom Galaxies?

Phantom Galaxies is story-based, FPS, RPG set in a future of space travel and planet colonization. Players follow the storyline quests, fight pirates, and upgrade their character and starships along the way. The game features high-quality graphics and features starship piloting and fighting, as well as walkable, 3D space stations where most of the NPC interactions occur.

Players will own their own Starfighters in the form on NFTs. Other equipment and fusion NFTs will be used to upgrade the fighters.

The game will also include many other features. This includes arena PvP, PvE raids, planet ownership, player crafting, and even potential permanent loss of Starfighter NFTs!

There is still a chance to play to mint with Tollan Worlds, but the window won’t be open for much longer! And in preparation for the upcoming Genesis Avatar mint, Tollan Worlds has created up a bridge to help players migrate their Marks of Fate from Polygon to Immutable X. You can access the bridge here. Anyone who has earned a mark recently shouldn’t need to use the bridge. Their Marks should already be in their inventory on IMX. But some of the first players may have Marks on Polygon, and those will need to be transferred for the mint.

We don’t have a specific date for the mint yet, but Tollan Worlds promised an announcement about it soon. If you haven’t earned a Mark yet, all you have to do is head over to https://tollan.io/, play for free, and complete the first chapter!

Marks of Fate

There are four different Marks, Tah, Keth, Elve, and Sevend, and 6000 maximum Marks in total. Each eligible wallet can only mint one Mark. Once all 6000 Marks have been created, the mint for the Genesis Avatar NFTs will begin. Avatar minting requires one of each type of Mark. Players can either accumulate all of the Marks themselves from secondary markets, or they can find a group of players to work with. When the four Mark types are burnt, four Genesis Avatars will be created, one for each Mark, and automatically sent to the participating wallets.

Genesis Avatar NFTs will be playable characters in the game. They also come with future perks such as airdrops, whitelists, and access to exclusive game content. A maximum of 6000 of these Genesis Avatar NFTs will ever exist.

What is Tollan Worlds?

Tollan Worlds is a retro 2D, fantasy RPG game. Is is also a multi-media project, offering up comic books in the Tollan Worlds universe as well as the game. The team hosted a special event last year allowing players an opportunity to burn their comic book NFTs for a chance to acquire a ‘Mint Pass’ NFT. This Pass will provide some sort of bonus for holders.

As for the game itself, Tollan Worlds sports a pixelated, old school graphical style. It is real-time, rather than turn-based, so players will need to be on their toes. The game also features leaderboards showcasing the top speedrun players.

In early May Tollan Worlds released Chapter II of their pre-alpha. You don’t have to complete the second chapter to earn your Mark. Finishing the first chapter is sufficient. Chapter two is just an additional preview and something fun for the players. They did hold a speedrun tournament when it was first released, but that has now ended.

The Beacon continues to develop their pre-alpha, action RPG game, recently introducing a new game currency known as Lux Shards. Lux Shards are in in-game currency only that players earn by completing dungeons. Players then use the Shards to purchase chests or special seasonal items from the Bazaar. The seasons will last for eight weeks.

The Beacon offers four new dungeons to explore and conquer every week. Players can complete each dungeon once per character per week. Free to play characters only have access to two of the four dungeons. NFT characters can visit all four each week.

Loot is only found from a dungeon run once it’s been completed. And if a player dies during a run, they have to start at the beginning and try again. Luckily, The Beacon does offer a option to exit early during the run. Though the chances of receiving good rewards are lowered if you take the “Coward’s Exit”! Once a character successfully exits a dungeon, that dungeon is closed for them until the next reset.

Owning a Founding Character provides various game bonuses such as the ability to find items that can be minted into NFTs. Players can also own pets known as Moonfae. Moonfae provide a bonus number of Lux Shards at the end of every week based on their yield boost.

The dungeons reset at 14:00 UTC on Mondays.

What is The Beacon?

The Beacon is a web-based, pixelated, action RPG. Players adventure through dungeons, win treasure, and decorate their homes. The Beacon runs on Arbitrum, a sidechain for Ethereum.

The game is free to play, though players receive significant bonuses when using character NFTs and Pets. The game is action-oriented, with each dungeon excursion also running on a time limit. Also, all players have access to a house which they can decorate with items they find from dungeon runs.

The Beacon plans to have many more features such as procedurally generated dungeons, multiple play modes, and a multiplayer, social hangout area. The Beacon currently has no plans for new mints or releasing a token in the near future as they work on bringing their game up to alpha status. At the moment, The Beacon is still in an early, pre-alpha state. Though it is very playable.

Tollan Worlds is giving away whitelist spots for their upcoming, free, Genesis Avatar mint. Interested parties can acquire a spot through the usual ways such as Twitter contests, Discord events, partnership giveaways, etc. But no matter how players acquire a spot, they still have to play to earn their mint!

Luckily, the play to earn part of this event is not too difficult. It just requires completing one adventure that should take only 10-15 minutes. At the end of the adventure, if the player has a whitelist spot, they will find a Soul Stone which is burned to acquire a Mark of Fate.

Players can download and install Tollan Worlds through Elixir, which continues to grow as a distribution platform for web3 games! There is also an option to play the game directly on the Tollan Worlds website. Players will need to connect their Immutable X wallet.

Big Time has planned to reward their players and NFT holders ever since they revealed their general economic plans a few months ago. And now, this multiplayer, fantasy, RPG announces their plans to airdrop 108,000 Utility NFTs to their players. Distributed over eight months, these Mystery Box rewards can even contain Mythic level items!

These Utility NFTs are used with Spaces to create crafting areas. Mystery Boxes can also be traded on the marketplace for those who don’t want to open them. In fact, you can’t even open them yet! Big Time hasn’t told us when opening will be available, but hopefully sometime soon!

Airdrop Eligibility

Eligibility for the first month’s airdrop requires owning at least one Big Time Collectible (SPACE, cosmetic item, Mystery box, etc). However, that does not guarantee an airdrop. Every eligible player receives points based on the number of owned Collectibles as well as their game playtime. Big Time has not provided details on how exactly points will be calculated.

For future months of the airdrop, players must also play at least one time during the month. The number of boxes airdropped increase from month to month, encouraging continued player activity and growth as the airdrop progresses.

Big Time also plans to deliver TIME tokens and Binance Postcards to airdrop winners at a later date.

Also, in a teaser for their upcoming patch 0.25, the Big Time team showed us some sandy, Egyptian style areas. New maps, items, and enemies, perhaps?

What is Big Time?

Big Time is a fantasy, MMORPG, dungeon crawler game. Players can adventure in teams of up to six players or head out of their own. The action is fast-paced, with players often wading through large groups of enemies. The adventures are instanced, only available to the current party. Each one generally includes a number of objectives with a big boss to defeat at the end.

Big Time features the usual trio of tank, healer, damage dealer, with four classes to choose from — Time Warrior, Quantum Fixer, Chronomancer, and Shadow Blade. And though the adventures are exclusive to the party, there is an open social hub with merchants and such.

Players can find NFT items on adventures, or craft them using their SPACE, a crafting/housing NFT. Players can customize the items they find to enhance the stats that the player prefers.

Big Time has an interesting system that allows players to level up with multiple classes. Players have Pocket Watches, which keep track of their progress in each class. Players can use these watches to switch classes at any time. This lets players experience all of the different characters, without the annoyance of logging in and out and maintaining separate inventories.

Big Time is currently in closed alpha, available to those with Silver, Gold, and Ruby Passes, and anyone who own a SPACE NFT. They do hold regular giveaways for passes on their social media channels.

A new set of Heroes arrives in the world of Guild of Guardians. This set of eight legendary Heroes was created in partnership with eight eSports teams. Specifically, Cloud9, Fnatic, NAVI, Ninjas in Pyjamas, NRG, SK Gaming, T1, and Team Liquid!

eSports Heroes Sale

This sale includes eight legendary heroes, one for each of the eSports team partners. Each Hero will cost ~$99 (priced in ETH) and only 16,000 will be sold. The public sale begins on February 19th, at 10am AEDT, though there will be an allowlist for early access.

Those on the allowlist can purchase these heroes for 24 hours before the sale opens to the public. To get on the allowlist, you must either own a Guild of Guardians hero, or complete all of the missions in an upcoming community challenge.

The sale will occur on the IMX marketplace, so no gas fees will be involved with the sale itself. Though you will need to transfer ETH into IMX first if you don’t already have funds there, and that does incur a gas fee cost.

This a one-time, limited edition sale, and it will last for one week (or until sold out). Each summon has a chance to be a special edition, color variant, with the following odds: 10% Warrior, 2% Elite, and a unique, 1 of 1 Mythic.

Each hero is fully playable in game (once the game launches), and comes with their own exclusive perks and utilities. This includes access to exclsuive leaderboards with their own sets of prizes, unique cosmetic items and other collectibles, as well as potential access to real life events and merchandise.

Guild of Guardians plans to have a number of special events and giveaways leading up to the sale. So keep an eye out on their Twitter and Discord channels for announcements.

What is Guild of Guardians?

Guild of Guardians is a cooperative, fantasy, action, dungeon crawler game, currently in development on the Ethereum blockchain. Players gather in groups of four to enter dungeons, battle through monsters, defeat dangerous bosses, and walk away with experience and treasure. The game uses NFTs for all of its heroes, items, and pets. Guild of Guardians is taking a mobile first approach for their game.

Guild of Guardians already has NFTs available on secondary markets and also launched their token, GOG. The NFTs can be traded on Immutable X, and the token, Guild of Guardians Gems (GOG), can be found on all the ETH DEXs.

The game will feature a rewards pool for GOG token staking that is filled from token usage in-game. Guild of Guardians will also feature Pets, Guilds, and Raids, with future plans for land ownership, user created dungeons, and incorporation into eSports. GoG has already made several partnerships with eSports teams.

Guild of Guardians will be free to play, but those who own NFTs will have various advantages when playing.

How to Play?

Unfortunately, Whisper of Soul can not be played at this moment. The game was open for Elixir partners for just a weekend. Players will have to wait until the team finishes the new version to be able to jump into it and chop some heads off in this gruesome RPG.

Nevertheless, if you want to get ready for the upcoming version I recommend that you install Elixir games, the web3 gaming platform from which players will be able to access Whisper of Soul.

According to the team, the new version should be ready around Q2 of 2023 and players can count on new features like:

What is Whisper of Soul?

Whisper of Soul is a Dark Souls-like action RPG and in the future, a Battle Royale. Players start by creating a character that can belong to one of four races – Human, Orc, Elf, and Dwarf. After that, players can join a match. Now there is only 1v1 and Deathmatch, but the team is already working on a Battle Royale game mode.

In 1v1 the map is smaller and there is only one small arena for two players to fight for glory. In Deathmatch, the map was more extensive and it took some time beforeI found a player.

Attack animations are still a bit clunky, graphics need polishing, and the content is quite limited. But I was already expecting all of this since this is just an Alpha and not the full game. Even so, I believe they now have the foundation to build a great and enjoyable game.

Whisper of Soul Economy

Whisper of Soul, is a Solana project, and will have NFTs and two tokens — $WOS and $SOUL. NFTs will exist as skins and weapons. But, unlike skins in other games, they boost a player’s warrior stats depending on its rarity which can be Common, Rare, Exotic, Epic, or Legendary.

The rarity also affects the speed at which characters recover in the inn. If a character is fatigued his stats will be negatively affected. The first NFT Skins sale will start at 1 $SOL on Magic Eden. When it comes to weapon NFTs they will fall into the exact same rarities and, like skins, they will also have an impact on character stats.

All players can get NFTs of a higher rarity by fusing NFTs of a lower rarity. As an example, Common axes can be combined to create a Rare Axe,

The team will launch the $WOS token, capped at 1,3 billion, which can be used for buying NFTs, renting NFTs, staking. WOS will also be the governance token.

And, on its dual-token economy, the uncapped $SOUL token will be used to evolve equipment at the forge, upgrade characters. It can also be exchanged for WOS tokens. To get $SOUL while playing the game, players need a Soul Gatherer.

The Beacon is the latest hit among the retro Web3 games. It belongs to the TreasureDAO ecosystem that includes other Web3 Games like Tales of Elleria and Knights of the Ether. In this top-down RPG, players must adventure into dark dungeons filled with gruesome monsters and survive all the dangers. Dungeons are randomized so no instance will feel the same. By slaying all the monsters and surviving their traps players earn loot.

Even though this is an RPG, it is entirely different than other games of the same genre. Characters can be upgraded during a run, but, these upgrades do not carry over after the run is complete! This makes The Beacon entirely skill-based. Also, available upgrades on each instance will be randomized increasing the replayability of the game.

Fast reflexes and good timing are vital to ensure success in the game. Players will often feel overwhelmed by the number of dangers that pop up every second in an instance. Skeletons jumping at the character, arrows crossing the screen, traps, and explosions are just some examples of occurrences that may happen, sometimes all at the same time! The Beacon is not for the faint of heart!

Game Modes

The Beacon will have three game modes. Single-player PvE, co-op PvE, and MMO-like social gameplay. I got a bit disappointed because there is no PvP mentioned so far. Hopefully, the team will develop it at a later stage.

In PvE players go into a dungeon, slay the monsters, kill the boss and grab all the loot. The difference is that in Single-Player PvE players go alone and in co-op they form a party. When it comes to the social game mode, there is a tavern where players can meet and virtually hang out.

Is The Beacon a Paid to Play Game?

Not at all. The Beacon is a free-to-play game that will be available for desktop and browser. Nevertheless, players who own NFT characters will have certain advantages in the ecosystem. There will be three types of players. F2P players, paid players, and blessed players.

F2P players as the name suggests are those who do not invest any money in the ecosystem. They will be able to earn non-NFT cosmetics and some tokens. This is for those who just want to play the game and do not care about earning.

Paid players are those who own a founding character. They will have access to all F2P players with a few extras like being able to earn NFT cosmetics, more rewards, and they also start with a set of character cosmetics.

Then, Blessed players are those who own a founding character and a pet and they will access everything paid players have with more extras. These extras include early access to the versions of The Beacon and higher rewards. Pets can be purchased from the secondary market, and founding characters will start being traded on January 30th. There are only 4096 pets while Founding characters have no limit.

Every player will always get 1 character and 1 house. The difference in housing is that Paid and Blessed players start with NFT cosmetics and F2P players do not.

Last Thoughts on The Beacon

The Beacon seems like an amusing game for its genre. Unfortunately, I did not play it but I liked what I saw in a few videos. It looks like a really dynamic and fast-paced game. The graphics are old school and bring me some nostalgic feelings from when I used to play games on the PlayStation X. If you have played Tollan Worlds it has the same style and vibe.

If you are into retro RPGs then I definitely recommend it. When it comes to “play-and-earn” it is too soon to talk about its tokenomics and ecosystem sustainability, so what I can tell you is only invest what you can afford to lose and always do your own research. I will leave you a video with some gameplay so you can have a clearer picture of The Beacon.

What is Elfin Kingdom?

Elfin Kingdom is another “play2earn”, pókemon-like game on web 3 on the BNB Smart Chain. But, imagine that pókemon only had 0.1% of the funds it currently has. Now add NFTs to it and a token and you have Elfin Kingdom. Personally, I did not play the game. But I also do not feel like doing so because I do not like its simplicity.

In this game, you have to capture creatures, the Elfins, to then face your opponents. These Elfins have stats and an element. Each element has strengths and weaknesses so it is recommended to create a balanced Elfin team with different elements. The game falls into the turn-based tactical RPG genre where you fight with three Elfins against other teams. There are PvP and PvE activities and a mini-game which is where players capture new Elfins.

When it comes to its economy there is the $ELFIN token and the Elfins which exist in the form of NFTs. The idea is to capture Elfins and sell them for the token. Then I would say the next logical thing is to sell the token for FIAT, but, accordingly to CoinMarketCap, it is unlisted. The NFTs can also be sold in this marketplace built by the team for $BNB.

Personally, if you are into pókemon-like games I think you are better served with projects like Chain Monsters. I tried getting more information regarding the game but there is no whitepaper and their discord server is as full as the highlands of the moon on a Saturday afternoon. So, I will leave you with a video review of the project instead in case you want to know more about it.

How to play it?

The game is only available on Elixir so far. To play it players will need a Beta key. These Beta keys can be obtained either by minting a Traveler NFT on December 15th or by getting one from an influencer or team member.

After getting the beta key players must create an Elixir account, download the launcher and launch Chronos: The Dawn of Time through it. Before launching the game for the first time players must insert the Beta key.

About the Project

Chronos: The Dawn of Time is an old-school 2D RPG built by a team of five elements. The project is still in its early stages of development and the team still did not invest much in marketing. For now, the focus is to build a fun and engaging game.

When it comes to Chronos as a web3 project it is quite atypical. There are no tokens, only an in-game currency called Aether. This might be good, especially during a bear market. Other games like Skyweaver also do not have a crypto token and their economy works perfectly. But there will be a lot of items that will exist in the form of NFTs. Soon they will sell their first NFT collection, the Travelers. Check their Twitter feed for the latest info.

Chronos: The Dawn of Time has a really fun gameplay. Somehow it reminds me of the old Playstation X games. The game is in 2D and players will have to survive multiple obstacles in every area and also defeat monsters. Monsters drop loot which can be used to upgrade characters. To fight these monsters players can rely on a vast arsenal that goes from swords to machine guns and grenades. Grenades just like other items can be crafted and can make the difference between life and death on the battlefield.

This is a game I recommend for all the arcade and RPG lovers. It is only in Beta but it already reveals a lot of potential as a web3 game.
