The next Mirandus playtest kicks off on May 15th and runs for two weeks (though no firm close date has been set). Players will need to own a Mirandus Exemplar character and keep it in their Gala wallet to join in this playtest. There are still some Exemplars available in the Gala Games store, and on third party markets.

Also, the NFT game items Ring of Discord, and Lantern of the Sun will be usable in-game. Both items provide a magical light source for the players. And these items should be useful because nights are really dark in Mirandus! In addition, anyone who owns a Mirandus VOX that matches the Exemplar (e.g. a Seafarer Exemplar and Seafarer VOX), will receive a health boost of 25% in the game.

This playtest is a huge expansion on previous tests. For starters, it features a full size zone – a play area that is 30 times larger than their goblin test last year! Players will be able to explore the zone, engage in combat, and craft various items. The Mirandus team says that they tuned up the difficulty of the monsters for this test. They also suggest bringing friends when heading out to dangerous areas!

Some players were allowed early access to the playtest for an hour, and you can see a number of gameplay videos posted on their Discord server. This event has actually led to some dissent among the playerbase. Apparently there is supposed to be a reward given to whoever is the first to kill the boss in this playtest. However, some of those who were in the early preview have scraped all the data and know spawn locations, loot tables, and the location of the boss in question, giving them a significant advantage in the competition. Now there is some discussion about changing the reward plans. Head over to the Mirandus Discord to join in the chat.

Another milestone arrives with this playtest — the end of the sale for Firebrand steeds. Once this playtest completes, any remaining, unsold Firebrand Steeds will be burned, and these NFTs will never be offered again!

What is Mirandus?

In development since 2020, Mirandus is an fantasy MMO by Gala Games . Built with Unity, Mirandus is a first-person, open-world, fantasy MMO where players own everything. From the clothing on their backs to the shops in towns, to the towns themselves! Mirandus features a complex, interconnected economy where players assume the more ordinary roles of blacksmiths, hunters, and tavern keepers in addition to explorers and adventure seekers.

Adventurers will need food, armor repairs, and potions for their next adventures. The blacksmith needs wood from the woodcutter, while the butcher needs meat from the farmer. There are many production lines and players can enjoy being a farmer, an adventurer, a trader, or even a bard!

Players with land plots choose where to place it on the map. Close to a dungeon for more foot traffic? Or near a river for farming and trade? Or perhaps in a mountain pass to levy taxes on anyone who wants to pass through! When the game launches, there will be five citadels, the biggest cities in the game world. These give the owner the right to create and lead their own faction, charge taxes on trade, and so on. Business owners then work out deals with the land owners to place and run their buildings.

And, of course, Mirandus will feature the expected hunting and gathering, battles, both PvE and PvP, and dungeons to search for fabulous treasures!

Ascenders brings a land mint to their playerbase, offering NFTs that will provide game utility in both the primary MMO, and a new, soon to be released land simulation game called Ascenders Simulation!

The land sale opens on May 18th and will be held on MetaDrop. A total of 6,500 NFTs are up for grabs, priced at $70 in ETH for those on the whitelist — $100 for the public sale. The sale will be on the Arbitrum network.

What is Ascenders Simulation?

Ascenders Simulation launches in June 8th, providing a first opportunity for land owners to utilize their NFTs. Ascenders Simulation is a browser based, base building, resource gathering simulation game. Players will have a number of Building Plots to use based on their land NFT. Players without NFTs will have access to a few starting plots they can build on. When starting the game, players pick a City to ally with. This choice affects the potential resources available. In-game, players choose workers, build extractors, refineries, and fabricators, and upgrade their production potential.

This is kind of similar to Illuvium Zero, and hopefully Ascenders has similar plans to let players eventually create items that can be used in the larger, MMO game.

What is Ascenders?

Ascenders is a sci-fi / fantasy, action MMO in development on the Arbitrum blockchain. Featuring an open world experience on an alien planet where players must build up their civilization, Ascenders also offers instanced dungeons and PvP. Ascenders will focus heavily on crafting. Players won’t find ready to equip items when out adventuring. Instead they will find parts and resources which can be combined into the items.

Ascenders will include a dual token system. Their blockchain token, AGC (Ascenders Governance Council) is expected to launch in the second half of 2023. The game currency will be GC (Glow Gems).

And while the primary game is still a ways off, the team is releasing Ascenders Simulation, a base building, resource gathering game, in early summer of 2023.

Who’s ready to own some land in SinVerse? Your chance will come on April 21st, 2023, but if you didn’t already join into the staking pools that were opened earlier this year, then you’ll have to hope for the chance to grab a plot in the public sale, though the odds are low! The sale opens on the 21st at 8pm UTC for those on the whitelist, and at the same time on the 21st for the public sale. You can check the official Google doc to see if you are on the list.

The specific land plots and prices won’t be revealed until April 17th. Purchases must be made using SIN token. This will be the last land sale for SinVerse until they open their resale market, which is expected sometime in Q2 2023. Land staking should follow soon after.

A followup sale for Business Licenses should arrive sometime soon as well. Business Licenses come in three varieties — General, Premium, and Exclusive. Players can earn income when players visit their shops But first the plot owners will need to build something first.

Every plot comes with a General License which allows players to create a custom store. But to own one of the premium, game-anchored business such as liquor stores, hospitals, coffee shops, and meth labs, owners will need to purchase a Premium or Exclusive license. SIN will be the token used for all player to player, in-game transactions.

What is SinVerse?

Billing themselves as the ‘R-rated Metaverse’, SinVerse is kind of a web3 version GTA online. Featuring active gameplay with cars and guns and such, SinVerse also includes player owned shops and businesses, and the ability to build a criminal empire in-game.

In Sinverse, players own land plots throughout the city — 15,000 plots across 17 Districts in total. Each District is associated with a specific faction and contains unique resources or boosts. Example Districts are The Strip, The Red Light District, and the Fashion District.

Players can build on their land plots and open businesses if they have purchased the appropriate licenses. Construction requires collecting resources in-game, creating opportunities for player merchants, faction negotiations, local monopolies, and turf wars!

SinVerse has partnered with Vulcan Verse to help develop their game. And though still in development, SinVerse holds play and earn events every on a regular basis.

Ember Sword prepares to reveal their world to a larger audience with an open alpha playtest in April! No token or NFT ownership required for this alpha. Players need only register an account on the Ember Sword website.

Ember Sword Open Alpha Playtest

This playtest will be limited — only open on April 18th and 19th, 2023, from 10am CEST until 23:59 CEST each day. Players will be placed in a queue to join when the game opens, and let in on a first come, first served basis. In addition, each player is limited to 30 minutes of playtime in order to give other players a chance to try out the alpha.

The team promises a series of five quests for this alpha, each one previewing a different part of the gameplay. The quests provide an introduction to the game and include PvE combat, resource collection, crafting, puzzle solving, and a PvP arena. Players will also have a chance to explore the open game world, fighting enemies and discovering secrets and hidden areas!

The Ember Sword team is very interested to hear player feedback form this alpha test and will send out a link to a feedback form afterwards. As an added incentive, participants who fill out feedback form have a chance to win an Ember Sword merch pack.

What is Ember Sword?

Ember Sword is a free-to-play, open world, fantasy game currently in development. Ember Sword offers PvP in the Outlaw Zones, as well as PvE options, including multiplayer dungeons. The game promises an MMORPG experience with nation-based resources, a caravan system for transportation, collectibles, cosmetic items and more! The game also features land ownership system where land plots exist as NFTs. Land owners can upgrade their lands and earn income when players visit.

Most in-game items that provide player bonuses won’t be NFTs. However, all cosmetic collectibles will be limited edition release and also have historical records of their use and ownership, making each one truly unique! The game runs in a class-free leveling system. Skills level up as you use them, unlocking new abilities along the way, allowing players to choose their own path based on their playstyle.

Ember Sword plans to release their own token, Ember. Ember will live on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token and see use for marketplace transactions, to purchase limited use consumables, or pay for subscription services. Though Ember Sword is free to play, they plan to offer perks for those willing to pay for a subscription. This could include things such as extra bank slots, exclusive titles, and collectible airdrops.

This Mirandus playtest is for the Tavern Games, a set of in-game mini-games to entertain players. For this test, we have Three-Eyed Snake, a dice rolling and betting game.

This playtest is open to everyone with a Gala Games account, which is free to create and does not have any KYC requirements.

Players need copper coins to play Three-Eyed Snake, and so every player will receive 30 copper coins every six hours. Players should also receive bonuses to their basic copper coin income based on NFT and MTRM holdings in their wallet. At the end of the playtest, the top 10 players who have accumulated the most copper coins will be able to claim a first edition Tavern Tankard!

The playtest begins on March 2nd at 10am PT, and runs for a week until March 9th, 10pm PT.

As part of the tech updates for this test, the dice rolling actually uses the Unity physics engine rather than a static animation. Pretty cool!

When the game launches, players will be able to engage in these Tavern Games at their local establishment, engaging with other players whose characters are in the same tavern!

In addition to this test of the Tavern Games, a larger Mirandus playtest should arrive soon as well, potentially later in March or April.

The opportunity to apply for a beta spots for Cradles opens on March 1st and runs through March 10th. Look for a chance to snag a slot on their Discord server. We don’t have details on how many slots will be open. But with this being called an open beta, hopefully getting in won’t be too difficult!

This MMO promises player driven crafting, and a unique NFT staking system. Cradles will be a subscription-based service, so this beta may be one of your few chances to try the game for free!

The beta itself will only be open for two weeks, until March 30th. Cradles closed their previous pre-alpha test with a massive battle-royal, PvP event, giving rewards to the top players. They say that they plan for some sort of equally notable event at the end of open beta.

Cradles brings a feature from web2 gaming that we haven’t seen yet in the MMO genre of web3 games, monthly subscriptions! And with a starting price of $99 per month, I have to wonder if this particular feature hadn’t been better left behind! Unfortunately, by setting a monthly subscription, and for such a high price, Cradles is firmly placing itself in a spot where it will only be a play to earn game.

What is Cradles?

Cradles is an MMORPG set in a world co-inhabited by humans and dinosaurs and features a living world throw grows and evolves over time.

Cradles includes a main city hub that functions as the marketplace and social scene. Outside of the city are adventure areas. Here players explore, battle with prehistoric beasts, and collect materials for crafting. The adventure areas will represent different, lost eras of time in the Earth’s history. And, of course, the more dangerous areas provide more lucrative rewards!

In Cradles, players acquire equipment, crystals, Civilization Flames. Players use Civilization Flames to light beacon towers, which give the player’s favorite civilization a boost.

Crystals are the main game currency. They are used to level up weapons, strengthen equipment, and make repairs. Crystals will exist as their own blockchain token. Players earn Crystals in daily quests and in crystal mines.

Interestingly, Cradles has chosen not to sell any NFTs! Instead, they will focus on providing value to their token (DRPC, or DRepublic Coin), and let players decide which NFTs are worth trading. Players will have access to a crafting feature, allowing them to use materials harvested from the adventure areas to make equipment.

Cradles will also have some sort of NFT staking / rental system and options for passive income.

Like many other web3 games, Cradles has big plans. These include a quest system, player governance, player-created experiences, land ownership, attacks by Chaos on the main cities, and more!

What is Phantom Galaxies?

Phantom Galaxies is story-based, FPS set in a future of space travel and planet colonization. Players follow the story quests, fight pirates, and upgrade their character and starships along the way. Phantom Galaxies recently completed a series of alpha playtest episodes, offering special rewards in the form of NFTs and Astrafite, the game currency.

Each Episode features a story driven quest line. Completing the quest gives the player a chance to mint a Medal NFT. These NFTs are special rewards showing that you finished these alpha Episodes, which in turn allow owners to mint Poster NFTs. Playing in the Phantom Galaxies alpha requires owning a Phantom Galaxies NFT. But there are several options available for less than $5 on Open Sea. Each Episode must be completed sequentially.

Phantom Galaxies runs on a downloadable client and features walkable stations, numerous quests, high-quality graphics, and both space and land based combat!

How to Play the Pre-Alpha of Mist?

1. Go to their official website
2. Click on “Download for Windows” or “Download for MAC” depending on your platform
3. Download the file
4. Run the .exe file which will install the launcher
5. Open the launcher
6. Click on “Download game”
7. Click on “Continue playing”

This will take you to the character creation menu where you will be able to create your first character, chose its race, and if you own any class NFTs, play as a specific class. Those who do not own any class NFTs will have to stick with the Adventurer class which is a good all-around hero, but is not specialized in anything.

What is Mist?

Mist is a Web3 MMORPG on the BNB Smart Chain that will bring all World of Warcraft fans a feeling of being at home. There are quests, different monsters to slay, bosses, and dungeons for players to explore. Basically, everything that there is in a traditional MMORPG.

The game already includes different classes but, in order to play as a witch hunter or bard, for example, players must own those classes’ specific NFTs. Nevertheless, players find an NFT class as a drop if they are extremely lucky, while playing as the free class, the Adventurer.

The game also used the $MIST token, capped at 1 billion, which will be the currency of the ecosystem. In other MMORPGs there is the in-game currency gold usually, in Mist there is the $MIST token.

Pre-Alpha Gameplay

In the pre-alpha there is still not that much to do. It is possible to create a character, slay some monsters, go through a quest line and equip different gear. But besides this it is still too empty. There are also some bugs. I was already expecting bugs and lack of content since pre-alphas just have the purpose of testing out some game features and giving the community a glimpse of what the final product will look like.

What I really liked was its WoW-like graphics and background music. Personally, I got bored but I think the team now has the foundation to build a great MMORPG.

This will be the third of the test and earn events from Influence. During these events, players who participate and complete specific tasks can earn SWAY tokens. In the past, tasks have included things such as buying an asteroid or creating a crew member.

This upcoming release brings us a number of new features related to extracting, moving, and storing resources. Now players can get down and dirty with their asteroids. Zooming in to individual plots and taking core samples to find the best spots for mining resources. They will then be able to setup mining operations, and move mined resources into warehouses.

As with the other test phases, this one will include a number of tasks. Players who complete these tasks receive a set amount of SWAY tokens. The tasks revolve around using various game features and completing specific actions. Expect pretty much any newly available activity to be available for reward earnings.

The test event will also include a content creator competition. This event offers rewards to those who create guides, reviews, etc, during the phase 3 testing. Phase 3 will officially come to a close once the rewards run out, though the game will continue to remain open for those who want to play around.

As usual, the test will occur on the Goerli network. Since the faucets for the testnet can often become overloaded when the test goes live, I would strongly suggest getting yourself setup with some ETH on Goerli ahead of time.

Adalian Creators Collective Program

And while we’ve been waiting for this next phase of the test and earn events, player created utilities have continued to expand and grow. Many of these receive extra funding from the Adalian Creators Collective program. This includes things such as detailed production chain planners, fan-created stories, translations, tools, and even a Chrome extension!

Voting for the projects is happening now for those who own Influence NFTs. And if you’re a interested developer or have an idea for a cool tool or other addition to the game, you might want to consider joining in when the next round starts. There will be two more rounds for this particular initiative, and the top spots earn millions of SWAY tokens.

What is Influence?

Influence is a space-based MMORPG. In Influence, a colony ship has arrived at its destination, only to find uninhabitable planets. After much debate, the ship commander decides that the passengers and crew would set up camp in an asteroid belt and begin building a new civilization. Players have already begun to lay claims to Asteroids in the belt, and soon will come mining crews, bases, merchants, wealth, and inevitably, conflict.

In addition to the Asteroids and Ships, players also own Crew NFTs. Crew have the option of creating a background storyline. This is done through a text story where the player makes choices for the Crew member. Based on those choices, the Crew member receives certain traits that affect their in-game skills, allowing players to personalize their NFTs.

Influence is offering some other unique features that make it stand out. Mainly, its adherence to a realistic simulation. Not only are the resource production processes complicated and based on real life, but the Asteroids themselves include orbital dynamics! This is not a static map. All the Asteroids are constantly moving in their orbits. Each Asteroid has an orbital period (how long it takes to complete one orbit), a semi-major axis (how far it is from the center), inclination (how angled the orbit is off from the orbital plane), and eccentricity (how stretched the orbit is from a perfect circle)! This all plays into effect as time progresses, causing the distance between any two Asteroids to vary daily!

There certainly will be a lot to process in this game. Luckily, some people are already building tools to help players figure out the complex production processes.

That is correct! Oath of Peak is finally available. OGs already started before playing it and now it is time for the whole community to join. Oath of Peak is a Mobile MMORPG with features typical of games that fall into this genre, like auto-play.

The game interacts with the Polygon Blockchain, has NFTs, and will have a crypto token in the future. The project reminds me of Ninokuni: Cross Worlds honestly. The typical mobile MMORPG with cartoonish graphics.

When it comes to its graphics they are beautiful. Players will feel like they are in a world of fantasy for their whole time in the Omnispirit Realm, the world of Oath of Peak. The special effects are divine at least, and they feel like they were pulled from an animé series. The gameplay is fast-paced as was to be expected and players will have the typical mobile auto-do-everything features.

Oath of Peak Economy

As a Web3 game, Oath of Peak has a dual-token economy and NFTs.

Starting with the NFTs, these exist as spirit beasts and users can mint them on their official website. They can be used as pets to aid players in battle in-game, can also be staked to earn shells, and can be used to breed. To breed players need to spend Shells and $OOP and they will get another Spirit Beast NFT as a reward. Spirit beasts can also be obtained by playing the game, but obviously, the genesis Spirit Beasts are stronger and will give players way more benefits.

Then there is the $PKTK token which is an ERC-20 token and can be obtained by exchanging Shells for the off-chain version gPKTK. gPKTK can then be swapped by $PKTK on a 1:1 ratio. Players who want to speed up their in-game progression can buy $PKTK to exchange for Shells which have in-game utility.

Then there is the $OOP token whose utility is mainly governance.

Roadmap

This is a fresh project so players that begin now their adventure are early. The next step for Oath of Peak, accordingly to their Roadmap, is to launch tokens which will happen around Q2 or Q3 of 2023. Since the team already launched the $PKTK token on Uniswap, I guess the token that will be released by this time will be the $OOP token.

I guess at some point, even though it is not mentioned, the team will also launch the iOS and PC versions. Right now PC players can only play the game through BlueStacks, which does not offer the best gaming experience.

Last Thoughts

Oath of Peak to me looks like another mobile MMORPG like many others. By the footage, it seems like it is above average in comparison with other games of the same genre. It reminds me of projects like Ninokuni and MIR4. For the fans of the genre, I do believe this will be a great hit.

I am just a bit concerned regarding their tokenomics. The team mentions they have innovative tokenomics and the tokens will not suffer the same fate as in other web3 games. But having a free-to-play game where everyone can earn tokens and extract value from the ecosystem is a combination that failed multiple times in the past.
