You can already pick up a Boss Fighters Rowdy NFT and use it as your character skin in-game, but the team is ready to kick things up a notch with their unique, generative collection of Alpha Fighter NFTs!

There are actually three kinds of Alpha NFTs — Fighter, Weapon, and Boss Skins. They all come in four rarities, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Rarity has no gameplay effect. But for character skins, rarity does affect what selection of traits are used for generating the skin. That’s right, the Boss Fighters Alpha Fighter Skins will be generative, unique NFTs! Weapon and Boss Skins aren’t as exclusive, though they still have many different varieties and rarities available.

Boss Fighters Alpha Pass

But these Alpha Skins aren’t just for sale straight up. Players need to first purchase an Alpha Pass, and then earn their Skins by playing the game! Alpha Passes will go up for sale sometime soon through the Open Loot platform. Interested players will need to sign up for the waitlist using this form. Alpha Passes cost $15 for a rare, $60 for an epic, and $100 for a legendary, with varying chances of finding different rarities of Fighter skins. This is the only time these alpha skins will be made available.

There is also a free pass option, though it doesn’t include a Fighter skin as a reward. Those who want a free pass will still need to go through a whitelisting process and enter a Gleam campaign to try and win a slot. Watch the Boss Fighters social channels for more info on the free pass.

All of the passes also include access to the Closed Alpha and chances to earn Weapon Skins.

VR players receive their own special pass, the Alpha Boss Pass! These free passes reward owners with a Closed Alpha Key and two exclusive Boss skins.The Boss Fighters team will provide a form where players can submit their email address, and then follow a set of instructions to verify that they are a VR player.

These Passes open up the potential to unlock and mint the Fighter NFTs. Alpha Passes function as a battle passes, with rewards and perks unlocking as the player progresses.Once an item is unlocked, it immediately appears as a tradable NFT — no other work required!

An event known as ‘Big Playtime’ is scheduled to start on August 5th. At that point players can unpack their Pass and begin working on the unlocks!

What is Boss Fighters?

Boss Fighters is an asynchronous, arena combat game that pits a team of players against one other player as The Boss – a giant enemy that can smash apart buildings, shoot lasers, and even rip the giant hot dog off from the top of the restaurant and hurl it at the puny humans! The Fighter players have guns, rockets, grappling hooks, sticky bombs, and other weapon and gear options for helping them try to defeat the Boss.

Boss Fighters will be free to play. And those who have no interest in blockchain or NFTs can still play and earn in-game rewards. Boss Fighters will include digital assets and NFTs, but they will be cosmetic only and not affect gameplay. The game will run in seasons. During each season, players gain experience as they play, opening up new gear, cosmetics, and upgrades. All of these rewards are wiped between seasons, but players will have the option of spending game currency to mint certain items into an NFT. As the Boss players are the heart of the game, they will see increased rewards for participation in the game. This includes bonuses for playing on a regular basis.

The first character skin NFTs, known as the Rowdy collection, are available on the Solana network. However, the team recently announced a new partnership with Open Loot, and the NFTs will be transferred over to that platform in the near future.

Boss Fighters wants to bring a game show feel to the experience and encourages streaming. They want it to be a fun, eSport event for players and viewers. And so, the Boss Fighters team is already envisioning ways to encourage and reward viewers and audience participation.

Boss Fighters will also include player created content in the future such as customized maps. Hopefully that will expand to include Boss creation as well!

Epic Games continues to ramp up their presence in the blockchain scene. After recently adding Gods Unchained to their distribution platform, they now also host My Pet Hooligan on the Epic Games store! This is a positive sign for both My Pet Hooligan and web3 gaming in general!

And this addition is just in time as My Pet Hooligan prepares to launch the next phase of their alpha testing. What is My Pet Hooligan?

Sort of a GTA occupied by rabbits with attitude, My Pet Hooligan is a third-person, shoot-em-up style game. MPH offers a number of different game modes for players, including Team Death Match, Battle Royale, and even a social, hangout area. The lore behind the game speaks of the rabbits freeing themselves from the clutches of Meta Zuckbot, an evil overlord and establishing a new, more anarchic world. With destructible, city-based environments, My Pet Hooligan promises plenty of carnage and mayhem for its players!

The game will offer free to play options, but during the current alpha players need to own a My Pet Hooligan NFT to join. This can be either a Hooligan or a Zuckbot.

The primary Hooligan NFT collection consists of 8,888 rabbits with attitude, living on the Ethereum blockchain. Owning one of these playable NFTs also opens up early access to releases. But like many web3 projects, My Pet Hooligan isn’t content to just stay in one lane. They are also creating animated shorts, real life merchandise, and even offer ‘Hooligram’, an app that lets you animate your Hooligan and even have it imitate your facial expressions! This is built to feed into potential user created content with their own Hooligans, with owners retaining IP rights for their NFTs. MegaWorld introduced the ability to create custom buildings a few weeks ago. Now they prepare to launch the next phase, letting owners of custom buildings mint and tokenize Units, designated sections of a customized plot, as NFTs. Scheduled to open on June 29th, Unit minting heralds the beginning of a new era for MegaWorld. One in which avatars roam the world, completing quests, earning coins, and needing a place to sleep!

What are Units?

Units in MegaWorld are an important part of custom buildings. Custom plots can have multiple Units on it defined by the builder, each of which can be minted as a separate NFT and sold or rented for other players! Potential uses include homes, businesses, storage, and crafting shops! Builders can even create multiple floors! Customizing isn’t free though. Builders need to spend a large number of resources to make plot customizations.

These Units can be used as in-game shops or destinations, but their most important feature involves the upcoming ‘MegaWorld Express Delivery’. This update will feature an integrated quest system for players to complete with their in-game avatars. In turn, finishing these quests gives the associated building a production boost. With all of thise work, character avatars will need a place to rest and recuperate, thus introducing the use case for Units as apartments.

What is MegaWorld?

MegaWorld is a virtual city and economic simulation resembling a modern city with streets, buildings, cars, etc. In this game, players can own Citizens, Pets, Land Plots, and even whole Districts. The basic game features players walking (or driving) around the city, completing tasks, and earning MEGA tokens. The game will be free to play, though completing certain tasks may require owning a Citizen NFT.

For those who wish to be more invested, plot ownership allows players to create a variety of buildings from homes, to offices, to factories. Players can even choose to create a custom building on their plot. Buildings earn income in various ways, though they also require upkeep and have a chance to be hit by natural disasters. Players create most of the in-game items, including new Citizens.

Mega World has built out a complex economy with three cities across three interconnected blockchains — Ethereum, Tron, and Binance Chain.

Parallel wants their avatars to be a central, playable character across a variety of games, starting with their trading card game. Players who equip their Avatar, and win with a deck that matches the Avatar earn extra PRIME tokens when winning matches. In addition, owning an Avatar provides early access to Colony, a new AI-driven game in the works by the Parallel team, use in other, upcoming games, and even access to a casting call to have your Avatar appear in a future Parallel comic!

These avatars will be full 3d models. As a test, the team has been running simulations with their avatars in an Unreal engine setting, and it looks like their tests are going pretty well!

Parallel Avatar Mint Info

There are 3 ways to mint one of these Parallel Avatars The first phase of the Parallel Avatar sale begins on July 6th. This will be for those on the ‘Manifest’ and Avatars will cost 11 PRIME tokens (~$20 USD). The Manifest is an allowlist feature that Parallel has used for previous drops, meant to reward those who are most invested in the game. This Manifest includes Masterpiece holders, all of Echelon’s Ardent program members, and Prismatic Key Holders. The snapshot for the Manifest will happen sometime next week.

After that, in mid-July, there will be a public sale on OpenSea. No price has yet been set for the public portion of this drop. On to of that, there will also be an option to Play to mint by completing the Avatar Challenge in the game. Details on this have also not been revealed yet. The team says to expect more info on the play to mint feature closer to the beta release, which could be as soon as late July.

What is Parallel?

Parallel is a sci-fi themed TCG with some interesting mechanics. A lot of it is the standard stuff we expect with a digital TCG these days. Two players build a deck of cards and then take turns drawing and playing these cards in a duel. The first player to reduce their opponent to zero life wins. Cards come in three types — units, effects (spells), and relics. Parallel offers five ‘Parallels’, which are similar to gods / summoners / champions / etc. in other games.

Players build decks of 40 cards in Parallel. Each deck can have up to three copies of a card in their deck, except for Legendary cards, which may only be included once. Each deck can use cards from one Parallel and also cards that are marked as Universal. In addition, players choose a Paragon for their deck. Paragons offer passive bonuses throughout the match no matter their status, and then also function as in-play units with stats and potentially other bonuses or effects.

The mana / energy system in Parallel requires players to ‘bank’ cards from their hand. Each card banked provides one additional maximum energy each turn. Players begin the game with zero energy, so they will need to bank at least one card. Players can bank one card per turn. And on a turn that they bank a card, they draw an extra card at the end of their turn.

Players who win matches with NFT cards in their deck receive PRIME tokens. Parallel will include a free to play option as well.

PRIME is the main game token, and card collectors can already earn some by staking their cards. Also, Parallel offers a card creation tool called Payload. Players can pay a fee in PRIME tokens to generate new cards. In addition, Parallel supports ‘Artigraph’ cards — NFT cards that are digitally signed by the artist. Players can acquire these limited edition cards by paying a fee and upgrading an existing card.

Gods Unchained has partnered with Epic Games as a distribution platform. A game distribution and management platform, similar to Steam, Epic boasts over 190 million users! This move not only lowers the barrier to entry a step further (1 click install rather than download, run file, choose installation path), but it also puts Gods Unchained in front of a new, very large playerbase.

Now unfortunately, right below the fold on the Gods Unchained game page in the Epic store is a warning that this is a blockchain / crypto game. This is unfortunate because it will immediately turn a lot of players away and it puts the focus on “this is a blockchain game”. Even though players don’t need to own any tokens or NFTs to play!

But nonetheless, this is potentially a lucrative deal for both Gods and Unchained and Epic Games. We’ll see if the player numbers connected to Gods Unchained increase as a result of this new distribution platform. You can access Gods Unchained via Epic games here, and then install it through the Epic Games launcher.

In other Gods Unchained news, they just locked down their Band of the Wolf set. Released in March of 2023, until now, the cards in this set were still subject to potential changes and adjustments from issues and imbalances that came up after the cards were in the hands of the playerbase. Now, those cards are locked. They will never have their stats or card text changed!

What is Epic Games?

Epic Games is a Steam-like, game distribution service with over 190 million users and 470 games available on their platform. Epic announced long ago that they would support web3 games. And though web3 adoption of Epic games as a launching platform has been slow, it does continue to grow.

In fact, just a month ago, Grit became the first web3 game with an first official release on the Epic Games launcher! Other web3 games such as The Machines Arena and Star Atlas are also available through Epic, but they are still in alpha testing, which doesn’t count as a launch. So it seems as if Gods Unchained is the second ever, web3 enabled game to be available through Epic Games!

What is Gods Unchained?

Gods Unchained is a free-to-play, collectible card game. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Gods Unchained uses the Immutable X layer-2 solution for gas-free trading. Players retain full ownership over their cards. Players can earn digital ‘Core’ cards by playing the game. When a player has two identical Core cards, they can mint these into one blockchain-based card. That card is then tradeable on the markets.

Gods Unchained offers several play and earn opportunities. Players gain cards by being active players, win packs while competing in the weekend tournaments, and earn GODS tokens by playing daily.

Blast Royale introduces a three week, ‘Multi-Blast’ event, offering players numerous rewards for placing in the top leaderboard positions, and for simply playing the game! This event started on June 8th and runs through June 30th.

The Multi-Blast event features two leaderboards, and two additional prizes to everyone who meets certain gameplay goals. First up we have the standard leaderboard with players ranked based on the number of trophies they have earned. Anyone in the top 100 spots by the end of the event earns 1000 Coins. In addition, first place, and everyone who finishes in a multiple of 10 spot (ie, 10th, 20th, 30th, etc — up through 100), earns CS tokens based on their rank.

On top of that, everyone who wins 100 ranked games earns 50 BLST tokens, and everyone who gets at least 500 total kills will receive one, random piece of in-game Equipment.

Blast Royale utilizes a three token system. Coins are an in-game only currency and are used to upgrade and repair non-NFT equipment. BLST, or Blast Token, is an ERC-20 token used for purchases, upgrades, repairs, and crafting. There may also be a staking system for BLST tokens in the future.

CS tokens (Craft Spice) is the secondary token for the game and is only created via the in-game systems. Players use CS tokens for repair, crafting, and upgrades. Players earn CS tokens when playing from their own personal token pool. When the pool runs dry, players can keep playing, but they won’t earn tokens until the pool replenishes. The more trophies and NFTs that a player has, the larger their token pool. Rarer NFTs also count more than common ones.

It seems that the utility for CS tokens overlaps completely with BLST, which makes the economics of the game system more complex than it needs to be. But I’m sure there are some tokenomics decisions behind this token system design.

Blast Royale is free to download and play, and available on both Android and iOS devices.

What is Blast Royale?

Blast Royale is a free to play, mobile, battle royale style game with an integrated web3 market and plans for character customizations via NFTs. Players choose three items to equip, then jump into a hot zone where they try to stay alive, gather supplies, and defeat the opposing players! Blast Royale is a top-down shooter, with various special abilities provided by equipped items.

To keep matches interesting, rounds will sometimes have Mutators, or special rules that change the gameplay for that session. For example, a Mutator could provide everyone with extra speed or healing abilities.

Blast Royale will offer play and own features through a battle pass, crafting and event system. But to earn by playing Battle Royale, players will need to be competitive on leaderboards and in tournaments.

Players can already download and play Blast Royale now. The team plans to continue to build out the NFT integration, and eventually incorporate a player-run DAO system as well.

When NFT Worlds rebranded to Topia, they also relaunched their World NFTs, and paused their NFT staking feature. But things are starting to come together for the Topia team, and they are ready to restart their staking program!

Staking Worlds for TOPIA Tokens

The Topia World staking program launches on June 14th. This incentive-based system rewards World owners with TOPIA tokens for holding and locking their NFTs. Tokens are distributed on a daily basis, proportionally among all the stakers. And as added bonus for early adopters, Topia will distribute an extra tokens among all of those who stake a World within the first 72 hours of the site going live. 30 million to be exact! With only 10,000 Worlds available, that’s a guaranteed minimum of 3,000 tokens per land — though the actual numbers will likely be much higher!

And for everyone who had an unclaimed balance from the previous staking system, no worries! That remaining balance will convert into claimable TOPIA tokens, accessible from the World Management page. Additionally, everyone who was already staking when the system was paused, will also receive a backpay of staking rewards for the month that the site was closed.

Those who still holding the deprecated WRLD tokens can migrate them via https://www.topia.gg/convert-wrld (note: the WRLD tokens must be on the Ethereum mainnet to swap). Liquidity pools and staking system for TOPIA should be live sometime soon.

Topia also recently introduced the first version of the governance proposal system. Token holders can create and vote on proposals via the governance page.

What is Topia?

Topia is a collection of virtual worlds, each of which can be customized, managed, and monetized by their owner. The game features a Minecraft style feel and gameplay with improved graphics.

Topia already has an Armory feature available. This is kind of a mini-world, wardrobe feature. The Armor allows players to preview their avatar appearance while running and jumping in a small game space. Owners of NFT Worlds and Gray Boys avatars can already see their NFTs the Armory.

Billed as a better, web3 version of Minecraft, Topia will include an in-app marketplace, wallet-free logins, support for custom content and tokens, the ability to play in a browser, and plenty more! They are also very focused on creating a set of developer tools that fully meet the needs of those creating the custom content. Topia expects to launch in late 2023.

The Old Sally Event

To defeat Old Sally, players must gather up in groups and set off into the sewers. None of the participants will have any sort of early access to Old Sally. Old Sally won’t become available until 4pm, giving everyone a chance to get themselves and their team ready. Old Sally will be active until 7pm, with a one hour wind-down and social hour afterwards.

Tearing Spaces is currently running a closed beta with some play to mint functionality. Anyone who owns a Celestial Arsenal Pass can take part in the beta. And, as they play, they earn points on their Pass for winning matches. These points are cumulative and tied to the Pass NFT. If a player trades their Pass, all of the accumulated points go with it. This all leads into an upcoming mint for Genesis Weapons. The mint is actually a free airdrop, sent to all Celestial Arsenal Pass holders, with the reults based on the number of points earned.

Players have until May 31st, 4pm UTC to play the Tearing Spaces beta and earn points on their Passes. The snapshot will be taken On June 4th, 4pm UTC, giving players a few days to trade their Passes. After that, the Genesis Weapons will automatically airdrop into the Pass holder’s wallets on June 5th.

And speaking of weapons, Tearing Spaces is also holding a creative contest. Players can submit their own weapon designs for the game. And if their design is accepted, they get to name the weapon and receive a whitelist spot for that weapon’s mint!

What is Tearing Spaces?

Tearing spaces is a three versus three MOBA game. With a top-down view and action-packed gameplay, Tearing Spaces is a combination PvE and PvP game. Each team must battle through rooms of enemies to open the door to the final boss. First team to defeat their Boss foe wins. Players can also choose to use special teleporters on the map to transport to the other team’s area and try to slow them down!

Characters equip weapons and talents before a match, allowing players to customize to their playstyle. Players can acquire Talent Fragments as they play, later using them to power up their talent abilities.

Tearing Spaces will be free to play with play and earn opportunities. Each Hero comes with a their own selection of abilities and skills. The game will provide six free weapons to equip. However, free weapons don’t earn TSC tokens. Players can earn game tokens by equipping an NFT weapons and killing enemies and winning tournaments. Players can also increase token earnings by leveling up their characters in-game.

To keep the play and earn economy going, characters and weapons have limited uses per day, and weapons break down over time, requiring repair. Tearing Spaces will include daily quests, a battle pass system, leaderboards, and all that sort of good stuff. Players also have their own homes, which can be decorated with a number of items found by playing.

While we still wait to return to the planet of Dolos, Life Beyond has given us The Hub, a centralized social and informational space. Now, a new feature arrives in The Hub called Solo Combat Trials.

Solo Combat Trials

Solo Combat Trials see players face off against obstacles and enemies in a generated simulation. The challenges become increasingly difficult as players progress farther into the experience. The Solo Combat Trials are open to everyone, though holders of the Founders NFTs receive early access. Founders can already try their hand at the Trials, while everyone else can access the new challenge starting on May 29th, at 11am CET.

And though the Life Beyond hasn’t said anything about prizes for participating in the Solo Combat Trials, they are including a leaderboard. Every time a player completes a trial run, they will be scored based on certain criteria specific to the level they were on. So presumably, there could be some future contests with prizes for the top Combat Trials participants — maybe even hosted by the players!

There are apparently other modules being worked on for the simulator. Each with a different challenge or experience. It’s also easy to see how these simulation rooms would serve as a great training ground for new players — or even experienced players who want to try out different weapons and equipment!

What is Life Beyond?

Life Beyond is a free-to-play, play-and-earn, FPS-style MMORPG with a third-person view. In Life Beyond, players are citizens of the Dolos Planet, an alien world around a distant star. During the first alpha, players worked to clear and defend land for the first settlement. Along the way they encountered a variety of hostile wildlife, many of them similar to giant, alien roaches!

The game follows the lore, with reasoning for the alpha events and shutdowns written in as part of the storyline. Players go on solo or group Missions for experience and rewards. But while doing so, they also help contribute towards larger, community goals which open up new events and prizes.

Players have four classes to choose from, each with a different weapon selection. Try them out on solo missions or sign up for group missions to receive greater rewards.
