The beta for Rogue Nation is already available for anyone owning an Elemint NFT. Elemints are a limited NFT collection that was released for free earlier this year. Elemints are companions in Rogue Nation. These unique, in-game pets provide access to the first-playable release and boosts to attack damage. You can pick one up on Magic Eden or Open Sea for under 10 MATIC.

Those with Elemint NFTs can download the game, connect their wallet and start playing the beta now. The game is only available for Android devices at the moment, though an iOS version is coming soon. The team also plans to release a PC version further down the road.

Battle Royale with Narena Games

Rogue Nation has also announced a partnership with Narena Games, a platform that works on helping to gamify NFT collections. For holders of Elemint NFTs, there will be a special battle royale arena that opens on July 4th.

Players interested in this special beta can visit the Rogue Nation dashboard to register. Only those who register will be able to participate. This event will include rewards, with the first round offering up an NFT from We All Survived Death, a 10k generative NFT collection.

The Rogue Nation team will hold a Town Hall meeting on their Discord server on July 3rd. Hopefully we’ll get some more details during that event.

What is Rogue Nation?

Rogue Nation is a free to play, top-down, rogue-lite, action RPG. Players venture into procedurally generated dungeons in a top-down isometric game world, with the goal of defeating the big boss at the end. Completing a run provides loot crates with rewards that players can use to upgrade and customize their characters. Players can take on the dungeons solo, or with a group of friends. The game will also additional modes such as PvP, raids, survival, and even player created dungeons.

In Rogue Nation, players can customize their characters, as well as the items they carry. Customization comes in the form of ability selection, weapon attachments, and pets. As characters and weapons are used in-game, they develop certain bonuses or perks based on their history in-game. This system is designed to not only provide additional customization options, but to make also make every item and character truly unique and part of the game world.

Rogue Nation also talks about including creator options for minting custom maps as NFTs that can be sold or rented to others!

You can already pick up a Boss Fighters Rowdy NFT and use it as your character skin in-game, but the team is ready to kick things up a notch with their unique, generative collection of Alpha Fighter NFTs!

There are actually three kinds of Alpha NFTs — Fighter, Weapon, and Boss Skins. They all come in four rarities, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Rarity has no gameplay effect. But for character skins, rarity does affect what selection of traits are used for generating the skin. That’s right, the Boss Fighters Alpha Fighter Skins will be generative, unique NFTs! Weapon and Boss Skins aren’t as exclusive, though they still have many different varieties and rarities available.

Boss Fighters Alpha Pass

But these Alpha Skins aren’t just for sale straight up. Players need to first purchase an Alpha Pass, and then earn their Skins by playing the game! Alpha Passes will go up for sale sometime soon through the Open Loot platform. Interested players will need to sign up for the waitlist using this form. Alpha Passes cost $15 for a rare, $60 for an epic, and $100 for a legendary, with varying chances of finding different rarities of Fighter skins. This is the only time these alpha skins will be made available.

There is also a free pass option, though it doesn’t include a Fighter skin as a reward. Those who want a free pass will still need to go through a whitelisting process and enter a Gleam campaign to try and win a slot. Watch the Boss Fighters social channels for more info on the free pass.

All of the passes also include access to the Closed Alpha and chances to earn Weapon Skins.

VR players receive their own special pass, the Alpha Boss Pass! These free passes reward owners with a Closed Alpha Key and two exclusive Boss skins.The Boss Fighters team will provide a form where players can submit their email address, and then follow a set of instructions to verify that they are a VR player.

These Passes open up the potential to unlock and mint the Fighter NFTs. Alpha Passes function as a battle passes, with rewards and perks unlocking as the player progresses.Once an item is unlocked, it immediately appears as a tradable NFT — no other work required!

An event known as ‘Big Playtime’ is scheduled to start on August 5th. At that point players can unpack their Pass and begin working on the unlocks!

What is Boss Fighters?

Boss Fighters is an asynchronous, arena combat game that pits a team of players against one other player as The Boss – a giant enemy that can smash apart buildings, shoot lasers, and even rip the giant hot dog off from the top of the restaurant and hurl it at the puny humans! The Fighter players have guns, rockets, grappling hooks, sticky bombs, and other weapon and gear options for helping them try to defeat the Boss.

Boss Fighters will be free to play. And those who have no interest in blockchain or NFTs can still play and earn in-game rewards. Boss Fighters will include digital assets and NFTs, but they will be cosmetic only and not affect gameplay. The game will run in seasons. During each season, players gain experience as they play, opening up new gear, cosmetics, and upgrades. All of these rewards are wiped between seasons, but players will have the option of spending game currency to mint certain items into an NFT. As the Boss players are the heart of the game, they will see increased rewards for participation in the game. This includes bonuses for playing on a regular basis.

The first character skin NFTs, known as the Rowdy collection, are available on the Solana network. However, the team recently announced a new partnership with Open Loot, and the NFTs will be transferred over to that platform in the near future.

Boss Fighters wants to bring a game show feel to the experience and encourages streaming. They want it to be a fun, eSport event for players and viewers. And so, the Boss Fighters team is already envisioning ways to encourage and reward viewers and audience participation.

Boss Fighters will also include player created content in the future such as customized maps. Hopefully that will expand to include Boss creation as well!

Avast matey! It’s time to start earning nautical themed character and weapon skins with Pirate Booty, the latest seasonal content for Mini-Royale! You can jump right into Mini-Royale, the browser-based FPS, and start playing, no NFTs required. Though there are certain perks that come with owning items from the latest season.

Mini-Royale is free to play — no purchase required. But advancing through the battle pass is helped tremendously by owning and staking an NFT hero from the current season. Also, there are a number of missions that require owning a hero or weapon skin from the latest season.

Seasons in Mini-Royale revolve around owning and minting character and weapon skins from the latest release. These are created from Shards, which can be acquired in-game from battle pass and mission rewards, or purchased via a ‘Pirate Booty Drop‘. In this drop, players buy boxes which contain a random selection and rarity of Shards. Gather enough Shards of the same rarity and same hero and you can combine them into a usable game item that can also be minted into an NFT! For those who want to skip the assembly part, Heroes are available for purchase from other players on Magic Eden.

What else is new in Season 5?

Mini-Royale has also added a PvE, Campaign mode, as a way to introduce new players to the game. The Campaign mode gives players certain objectives to achieve when playing. Completing these objectives earns Star points, which unlock new objectives and chapters. Along the way players also earn Orbs and Shards.

In addition, a new map hits the game servers. Called Paradisa, this is the first map that was designed by someone outside of the Faraway team. Expect to see more maps in the near future as Mini-Royale plans to open up map-making to everyone!

Recently, Mini-Royale announced their creator program. This program allows players to create custom, 3D skins for the game and sell them to other players. A few weeks ago they made another creator based announcement. This time about maps. Partnering with a company called Hiber, Mini-Royale wants users to create their own maps with the Hiber 3D Editory and import them into the game. The Hiber3D editor already comes loaded with hundreds of objects and textures. It features a drag and drop building system, with the goal of making map creation accessible for everyone.

Faraway is working with Hiber to create a seamless import system that will allow players to create maps specifically for Mini Royale. Expect this functionality to become available sometime soon!

What is Mini-Royale?

Mini-Royale is a web-based FPS running on the Solana blockchain created by a company called Faraway. It is free to play, though owners of Premium NFTs receive bonus points towards their Battle Pass ranking with every match. The game runs in a web browser and supports both random, and public games, as well as private matches.

Mini-Royale offers a few different game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Battle Royale, and Capture the Flag. Team size maxes out at five players, though you can also play with fewer. PvP matches are generally quick and action-packed. Mini-Royale includes leaderboards and clan (guild) competitions.

Players earn character experience, gain battle pass points, and level up their items by playing the game. Along the way, they also earn special weapons and avatar skins. Some of these can be minted to the blockchain as NFTs once they’ve been leveled up. Mini-Royale currently only accepts the Phantom wallet for wallet connections. The team continually works on improving the gameplay as well as expanding and upgrading the game visuals and maps.

Mini-Royale recently added the ability for users to create and monetize their own avatar skins, and plans to add map creation to their set of user tools as well.

On July 7th, 2023, Star Atlas will close down their Escape Velocity game. Escape Velocity is a browser-based moving and scanning mini-game that uses the Solana blockchain for all of its calculations. By scanning for loot, players can find Star Atlas resources and even NFTs such as Ships and Mining Claims!

Escape Velocity is free to play, though it does require a refundable deposit of 1000 ATLAS tokens. The Star Atlas team also announced that they discovered a few players using bots to play the game for them. These players will have their rewards capped. Any extra resource rewards they accumulated will be distributed to all the other players who engaged with Escape Velocity.

Going forward, anyone who wishes to gather Star Atlas resources will need with a Mining Claim. Alternatively, players can pick up one of the new Mining Ships that were just announced!

Armstrong Mining Ships

As they close down Escape Velocity, Star Atlas opens a new sale for Mining Ships, vehicles dedicated to extracting resources.

We don’t have any details yet about how many resources owners can expect to extract. But we do know that they can be staked either in Faction Fleet to earn ATLAS tokens, or in Faction Claims to earn resources. Faction Fleet and Faction Claims are pre-launch staking systems that encourage players to hold onto their Star Atlas NFTs in exchange for being able to harvest tokens and resources.

These new mining ships come in three sizes, small, medium, and capital. The smallest option, the Armstrong IMP Tip, has a total supply of 10,200 and costs $860 USDC ($430 USDC if you make an early purchase)

And, as seems to be the standard practice for Star Atlas, the ultimate mining ship, the legendary, capital-class, Armstrong IMP, costs quite a pretty penny. $27,500 USDC to be exact! Though, if you manage to pick one up in the first tranche, you can acquire this ship for a mere $13,750.

For all of the mining ships, Star Atlas plans to sell them in three groups, or tranches. The first 30% of each ship type will be in the first group and sell for a 50% discount. The second 30% sells for the base price, while the final 40% of the supply will cost purchasers an extra 10% premium on the base price.

Mining ships should be available in the official Star Atlas marketplace later today.

What is Star Atlas?

The year is 2620. Three factions, MUD, ONI, and USTUR, exist in an uneasy truce across the galaxy. Players explore unknown systems, delve into rocks and earth to acquire resources to build, expand, and conquer! Will you be a fighter, testing your mettle in the arena games? Or an explorer in the depths of space, far beyond the reach of any help? Perhaps a shipwright, creating objects of beauty and technological prowess? Epic Games continues to ramp up their presence in the blockchain scene. After recently adding Gods Unchained to their distribution platform, they now also host My Pet Hooligan on the Epic Games store! This is a positive sign for both My Pet Hooligan and web3 gaming in general!

And this addition is just in time as My Pet Hooligan prepares to launch the next phase of their alpha testing. Players can gain access to the alpha by owning either a Hooligan or a Zuckbot (Zuckbots are the cheaper choice) NFT. The team says you can expect to see download keys in your mailbox today, June 29th, at 4pm PST which will provide access to ‘Alpha 2.0 Turbo’!

What is My Pet Hooligan?

Sort of a GTA occupied by rabbits with attitude, My Pet Hooligan is a third-person, shoot-em-up style game. MPH offers a number of different game modes for players, including Team Death Match, Battle Royale, and even a social, hangout area. The lore behind the game speaks of the rabbits freeing themselves from the clutches of Meta Zuckbot, an evil overlord and establishing a new, more anarchic world. With destructible, city-based environments, My Pet Hooligan promises plenty of carnage and mayhem for its players!

The game will offer free to play options, but during the current alpha players need to own a My Pet Hooligan NFT to join. This can be either a Hooligan or a Zuckbot.

The primary Hooligan NFT collection consists of 8,888 rabbits with attitude, living on the Ethereum blockchain. Owning one of these playable NFTs also opens up early access to releases. But like many web3 projects, My Pet Hooligan isn’t content to just stay in one lane. They are also creating animated shorts, real life merchandise, and even offer ‘Hooligram’, an app that lets you animate your Hooligan and even have it imitate your facial expressions! This is built to feed into potential user created content with their own Hooligans, with owners retaining IP rights for their NFTs. In addition, they offer 3d models of all of the Hooligans for creators to use.

How Does Alien Avatars Work?

Alien Avatars is about creating your own, unique Avatar design and then putting it up on the marketplace for others to mint. Players buy Avatar parts packs from Alien Avatars. These packs are paid for in Trilium token (TLM), the currency for Alien Worlds. Pack prices range from 500 TLM for a small pack to 5,000 TLM for an Ultra Rare pack.

Inside these packs are parts, used to make custom Avatars. Once a user has created and named their Avatar template, they can then put it up on the market by paying a fee of 1,000 TLM tokens. The designer of the template earns 25% of the cost every time their Avatar is minted. The rarity of the Avatar template is based on the average rarity of all the parts used.

Avatar minting prices vary based on rarity, and also on how many times they’ve been purchased. Every mint increases the price of the next mint for that Avatar by 10%. If the Avatar goes unminted for a day, the price will slowly, but steadily decrease until the next purchase. Avatar mints aren’t just for everyone though. In order to mint one of these Avatars, you must hold an Alien Worlds NFT Tool of the same rarity in your wallet!

The price for minting a common Avatar starts at 250 TLM. It ramps up quickly to 1,000 TLM for a rare Avatar, and runs all the way up to 6,250 TLM tokens for a mythical rarity Avatar.

MegaWorld introduced the ability to create custom buildings a few weeks ago. Now they prepare to launch the next phase, letting owners of custom buildings mint and tokenize Units, designated sections of a customized plot, as NFTs. Scheduled to open on June 29th, Unit minting heralds the beginning of a new era for MegaWorld. One in which avatars roam the world, completing quests, earning coins, and needing a place to sleep!

What are Units?

Units in MegaWorld are an important part of custom buildings. Custom plots can have multiple Units on it defined by the builder, each of which can be minted as a separate NFT and sold or rented for other players! Potential uses include homes, businesses, storage, and crafting shops! Builders can even create multiple floors! Customizing isn’t free though. Builders need to spend a large number of resources to make plot customizations.

These Units can be used as in-game shops or destinations, but their most important feature involves the upcoming ‘MegaWorld Express Delivery’. This update will feature an integrated quest system for players to complete with their in-game avatars. In turn, finishing these quests gives the associated building a production boost. With all of thise work, character avatars will need a place to rest and recuperate, thus introducing the use case for Units as apartments.

What is MegaWorld?

MegaWorld is a virtual city and economic simulation resembling a modern city with streets, buildings, cars, etc. In this game, players can own Citizens, Pets, Land Plots, and even whole Districts. The basic game features players walking (or driving) around the city, completing tasks, and earning MEGA tokens. The game will be free to play, though completing certain tasks may require owning a Citizen NFT.

For those who wish to be more invested, plot ownership allows players to create a variety of buildings from homes, to offices, to factories. Players can even choose to create a custom building on their plot. Buildings earn income in various ways, though they also require upkeep and have a chance to be hit by natural disasters. Players create most of the in-game items, including new Citizens.

Mega World has built out a complex economy with three cities across three interconnected blockchains — Ethereum, Tron, and Binance Chain.

Hybrid games seem to be gaining some momentum in the web3 markets. One of those in development, Fableborne, will soon begin accepting registrations for their next playtest. This playtest will only be open to a small group of players — Discord moderators, Fableborne Creators, and a few selected community members. Registration for this playtest begins on June 28th on their Discord server.

This is actually the fourth playtest from Fableborne this year. Each one a weekend long or so and introducing new features and game mechanics. I expect these playtests to continue and grow longer. So if this seems like a game that you might be interested in, I recommend establishing yourself on their Discord server to open up opportunities to join future playtests!

The Fableborne team also asks that all playtesters fill out a short survey within three days after the closed playtest ends. Those who don’t won’t be invited to future closed playtests!

A number of new features arrive with this playtest. Fableborn now includes leaderboards for individuals and teams, a new game currency, full content rebalancing, and more!

What is Fableborn?

Fableborne is free to play, play to own game that is a blend of action RPG and base building. Featuring an isometric viewpoint, Fableborne allows players to take to the arena themselves in multiplayer, asynchronous combat.

In Fableborne, players scout for new and bigger islands, build and fortify their bases, and unlock and upgrade the Echoes of slumbering Heroes to raid other player’s islands for resources. Built as a mobile first game, Fableborn is meant to feature quick play sessions.

Players start the game with a basic island and a common Hero. But not all resources are available on the starting island, so players will need to raid other player’s bases, and defeat PvE encounters to build up their own base. Echoes are playable characters, with a variety of skill and talent unlocks to choose from when leveling up. But, every time an Echo is defeated, they begin to fade. Enough defeats and that Echo can no longer be used for raids. However, players have the option of resetting a faded Echo, bringing it back to life with full energy but removing all levels and talents. The rejuvenated Echo does get an ability boost to help them re-level up.

And while players will be able to purchase NFT heroes at some point in the near future, the Fableborne wants to build a ‘fair economy’ where every player has the potential to unlock and own new heroes. How this works has not yet been detailed. Fableborne will feature leaderboards and regular tournaments.

The first NFT mint for Fableborn should happen sometime this year.

Want an avatar that can be used across multiple games? Then maybe the Parallel Avatar mint is the thing for you! Parallel wants their avatars to be a central, playable character across a variety of games, starting with their trading card game. Players who equip their Avatar, and win with a deck that matches the Avatar earn extra PRIME tokens when winning matches. In addition, owning an Avatar provides early access to Colony, a new AI-driven game in the works by the Parallel team, use in other, upcoming games, and even access to a casting call to have your Avatar appear in a future Parallel comic!

These avatars will be full 3d models. As a test, the team has been running simulations with their avatars in an Unreal engine setting, and it looks like their tests are going pretty well!

Parallel Avatar Mint Info

There are 3 ways to mint one of these Parallel Avatars The first phase of the Parallel Avatar sale begins on July 6th. This will be for those on the ‘Manifest’ and Avatars will cost 11 PRIME tokens (~$20 USD). The Manifest is an allowlist feature that Parallel has used for previous drops, meant to reward those who are most invested in the game. This Manifest includes Masterpiece holders, all of Echelon’s Ardent program members, and Prismatic Key Holders. The snapshot for the Manifest will happen sometime next week.

After that, in mid-July, there will be a public sale on OpenSea. No price has yet been set for the public portion of this drop. On to of that, there will also be an option to Play to mint by completing the Avatar Challenge in the game. Details on this have also not been revealed yet. The team says to expect more info on the play to mint feature closer to the beta release, which could be as soon as late July.

What is Parallel?

Parallel is a sci-fi themed TCG with some interesting mechanics. A lot of it is the standard stuff we expect with a digital TCG these days. Two players build a deck of cards and then take turns drawing and playing these cards in a duel. The first player to reduce their opponent to zero life wins. Cards come in three types — units, effects (spells), and relics. Parallel offers five ‘Parallels’, which are similar to gods / summoners / champions / etc. in other games.

Players build decks of 40 cards in Parallel. Each deck can have up to three copies of a card in their deck, except for Legendary cards, which may only be included once. Each deck can use cards from one Parallel and also cards that are marked as Universal. In addition, players choose a Paragon for their deck. Paragons offer passive bonuses throughout the match no matter their status, and then also function as in-play units with stats and potentially other bonuses or effects.

The mana / energy system in Parallel requires players to ‘bank’ cards from their hand. Each card banked provides one additional maximum energy each turn. Players begin the game with zero energy, so they will need to bank at least one card. Players can bank one card per turn. And on a turn that they bank a card, they draw an extra card at the end of their turn.

Players who win matches with NFT cards in their deck receive PRIME tokens. Parallel will include a free to play option as well.

PRIME is the main game token, and card collectors can already earn some by staking their cards. Also, Parallel offers a card creation tool called Payload. Players can pay a fee in PRIME tokens to generate new cards. In addition, Parallel supports ‘Artigraph’ cards — NFT cards that are digitally signed by the artist. Players can acquire these limited edition cards by paying a fee and upgrading an existing card.

Hippo Dash remains strong this week, fighting with Farmer’s World and Splinterlands for that second place spot.

Defi Kingdoms continues to grow as well. Which is a bit surprising as it requires purchasing JEWEL tokens to get started and is on the DFK sidechain, two barriers to entry that I would expect to put players off. But I guess the potential play and earn options are enough to attract a steady flow of new players!

Another mobile, play to earn contender joins our charts this week. Carrom Blitz. Though I’m not sure what caused such a surge in popularity. We’ll investigate further it it’s still on the charts next week.

The Azuki and BEANZ Official NFT collections are riding high this week on the back of an announcement about a new collection from Azuki. Holders of Azuki and BEANZ NFTs receive pre-sale access to this collection, known as Elementals, slated to launch this week on June 27th.
