Skyweaver adds a new quest system to their fantasy, web-based TCG including daily, weekly, and seasonal quests. Completing quests rewards players with points which feed into the Skyweaver battle pass system, opening up new rewards for players every season.

Quests have arrived in Skyweaver, giving every player a chance to complete daily, weekly, and seasonal quests, earning experience points along the way! Quests are accessed via the top menu and the quest page shows active quests, completed quests, and timers with countdowns for the next quest resets.

And if you get a quest that you don’t like or just can’t seem to complete, Skyweaver includes a handy dandy re-roll feature! Players can re-roll one quest per quest type, per quest period. e.g., you can reset one daily quest once per day. Owners of Premium Skypasses receive two re-rolls.

Completing quests earns points towards the Skypass. Skypass is the battle pass for Skyweaver. And, as is standard with battle passes, Skypass offers a paid, premium mode with extra prizes, including cards, tradeable stickers and card backs, and even tickets to play for Gold and Silver cards in Conquest mode. Premium passes cost $14.95 if paying by credit card, or $12.92 if paying with USDC.

Speaking of Skypasses, you’re just in time to jump aboard as Skyweaver just opened up Season 21 with a new set of rewards. And with each new season, a new, free card awaits every player who logs in and claims it! Skyweaver is free to play, so jump in now to give it a try and claim your rewards!

What is Skyweaver?

Skyweaver is a fantasy-themed, collectible card game with play and earn opportunities. Playing Skyweaver is free and easy. The onboarding process for the game is very smooth. And the tutorials available make the game easy to approach, even if you are unfamiliar with the trading card game genre. Before entering PvP arenas you will need to gain experience by battling against bots. Along the way, you will earn basic cards and heroes to help build your first decks. Skyweaver also offers a ‘Discovery’ game mode, where each player begins with a pre-built deck.

In an interesting twist, Skyweaver doesn’t sell card packs. Players must earn cards by playing, or buy cards from other players. And though basic cards are bound to the player’s account, Skyweaver also features Silver and Gold card rewards which can be traded on the market. Players earn these cards by reaching the top of the leaderboards, or competing in Conquest mode. Tickets for Conquest mode cost $1.50, though they can also be won in-game. Conquest mode is a single-elimination mode, where players can earn Silver and Gold cards for winning 1, 2, or 3 matches in a row.

The game plays in your web browser or with the native apps available for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android. Skyweaver is officially in an ‘open beta’ state, but it already has a fully functioning game ecosystem and market. To learn more about this game, read our full Skyweaver Review.

The latest expansion for Skyweaver, Hexbound Invasion, lands on January 16th. Featuring 50 new cards, 10 for each Prism, this expansion release includes a new card ability, and the new Skypass!

Skyweaver prepares to release their next expansion, Hexbound Invasion. The lore for this release features armies of creatures infected by Hexbound sickness gathering for destruction while the other forces of the world marshal their troops for defense. With ten new cards for each Prism, six units and four spells, there should be plenty of opportunity for everyone to tweak their decks with these new cards.

Hexbound Invasion comes with a new card Ability called Slay. Slay triggers when the card damages and destroys an enemy unit. The effects from triggering Slay vary from card to card. Here are a few examples in the images below.

Skyweaver is still in the process of revealing the cards from this new expansion. They have been revealing four cards per day partnered with various streamers and other community folks. You can see the reveal schedule on the Hexbound Invasion page. You can also see all of the revealed cards so far on their Discord server.

And don’t forget that this is not a pack sale. Skyweaver doesn’t sell packs! Players must acquire these cards in-game, either through rewards or purchases from other players.

The release of Hexbound Invasion also ties into the release of Skypass, Skyweaver’s new battle pass system. Skypass will run in seasons, with every player’s progress resetting with each new season. This will also affect the player’s overall level, as that level will now be the same as the player’s Skypass level. Skypass will basically replace the current level rewards.

Skyweaver, one of the many groundbreaking NFT and P2E games launched in the last few years, has announced Skypass, a new feature. Skyweaver has recorded steady growth in the P2E market thanks to its generous features, as it is F2P.

It is based on Polygon and has reached an unprecedented number of followers despite facing massive competition from other companies. The game has a concept of earning, gaining and trading cards. The company announced on January 6, 2022, that the new feature, Skypass, will be rolled out soon. Each Skypass lasts for one season (28 days). Players can also choose the premium version that costs 14.95 USD, increasing the chances of better rewards.

Skypass

What is the Skypass feature about, and how can Skyweavers get the most out of it? This article explains everything about this feature and the benefits of participation.

What is Skypass?

Skypass is a new battle pass type feature set to be released in the Skyweavers game. It enables players to earn by reaching milestones. In addition, it is a new feature for the Skyweaver progression system, which means players get to earn reward packs as they progress.

According to information from Skyweaver, Skypass will offer many types of rewards. Possible rewards include Hexbound invasion cards and many other packs. In addition, players will earn rewards whenever they level up in the season.

Skypass Hexbound Invasion

How Do You Get Skypass Rewards?

Access to Skypass is made super easy by Skyweaver. To view your progress tab and rewards, click on the Skypass icon on the top right of the menu. Then, users only need to click on “claim rewards” to get the cards if any rewards are unlocked.

An advantage of Skypass is that users can earn rewards at the start of every season without progressing in the levels. There is also an option for the premium pass, enabling players to unlock rewards faster and more efficiently.

The Skypass ‘event’ lasts for a season, and users can purchase the premium pass anytime during the 28 days duration. As for users that do not collect their rewards as they accumulate, all Skypass rewards will be automatically claimed at the end of the season.

Skypass Rewards Collection

How to Maximize Skypass Benefits

Skypass in the Skyweaver is a system that rewards players based on their daily play rate. The amount of time played in the game translates to progress tabs which unlock rewards stage by stage. Therefore, the only way to gain more rewards and make it to level fifty fast is to put a lot of time into the game.

According to Skyweaver, thirty minutes per day is enough to ensure the completion of all stages, maximizing rewards. In addition, the premium pass ensures that the rewards are tradeable and players can earn extra cards.

As the event is still in the introductory stages, some other features still need to be added. This includes an increased variety of rewards from the premium pass and a host of other interesting features.

The web3 Trading Card Game Skyweaver released the Air Chrysalis tool that allows streamers and content creators to do automated on-chain giveaways. The whole process is randomized, it can be seen on-chain and is Verified by Chainlink VRF. This tool was created entirely by the community.

Air Chrysalis is a tool that will make Skyweaver’s streamers and content creators life way easier. It will allow for randomized automated giveaways with complete transparency to their audience. Since the giveaway is on-chain it can be verified by each one of the participants. This is possible thanks to the use of the Chainlink Verifiable Random Function. Users need a Sequence Wallet to use the tool.

Air Chrysalis creators, SKR & Fulligine, got the prize of 4,000 USD for building this tool for Skyweaver’s community. There was a bounty to create such a tool and they won. Probably, more opportunities like this will come from the Community Bounties Program.

How to use Air Chrysalis?

  • Go to Air Chrysalis website
  • Click on “Connect Wallet”.
  • In the Sequence Wallet window that pops up, click on “Continue”.
  • Select the cards you wish to giveaway
  • Click on “Create Giveaway”
  • In the new page that opens you have an opportunity to change the cards to giveaway. Once you are satisfied with your choice, click on “Continue”.
  • In the Sequence Wallet window that pops up, select the currency you wish to use to pay for the signing transaction, then click “Confirm”.
  • In the page that opens, click on “Copy giveaway link” to share a link through which participants will be able to join your giveaway.

What is Skyweaver?

Skyweaver is a Trading Card Game that interacts with the Polygon Blockchain. It is now in its open beta and already counts with a significant community. Just like in many other games of the same genre players choose a hero and build a deck of cards. The chosen hero will affect which cards are available.

The gameplay is good but it does not bring any innovation to the genre. I believe it is what players can expect from a web3 TCG. Now, where Skyweaver really shines is in its artwork and graphics. Personally, they are the best I have seen in games like this.

When it comes to web3 elements cards are NFTs, but, unlike other identical games like Gods Unchained, it does not have a token. Skyweaver uses USDC in its market. If you want to know more about the game watch our video below where I review Skyweaver and read our Skyweaver review and guide.

Blockchain game developer Horizon raised $40M in a Series A funding round led by Brevan Howard Digital and Morgan Creek Digital. The gaming startup Horizon aims to use the funding to further expand its TCG Skyweaver, their web3 developer platform, Sequence, and the decentralized marketplace, Niftyswap.

The round was joined by investors such as Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Polygon, Bitkraft Ventures, CMT Digital, Round13 Capital, and individual investors such as Shopify CEO Tobias Lutke, Axie Infinity co-founder Aleksander Larsen, The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget and many more.

About the funding

The funding round was led by prominent names in the tech industry, such as Brevan Howard Digital – dedicated crypto and digital asset division of Brevan Howard, and Morgan Creek Digital – a venture capital focusing on blockchain technology investments.

Horizon will use the funding to build Sequence, an easy-to-use building tool for developers who are not web3 experienced. They are also working on updating the Skyweaver game, where players battle against opponents using fantasy trading cards. More than 400,000 accounts have already been created on Skyweaver. Horizon also announced Niftyswap, which is a decentralized marketplace for web3 collectibles. The Series A funds will be used to develop the above three projects and hire more people.

“We have always had a long-term vision for the future of web3, and are carefully building complementary products to support the ecosystem. With Sequence, we enable builders to create the next generation of Internet experiences; with Skyweaver, we deliver a fun, strategic, and rich piece of content for gamers to enjoy; and with Niftyswap, we enable the seamless exchange of SFTs, which are poised to become some the world’s most useful and traded virtual goods.”

What is better than crushing your opponent? Looking good while doing it! And Skyweaver hopes to help its players in that regard with a new set of NFTs called Legacy Hero Skins. Acquiring these skins requires melting (burning) Gold cards as well as paying a fee in USDC tokens.

Legacy Hero Skins give players a new look when playing matches in Skyweaver. There are fifteen (15) different skins to choose from, one for each hero. And these Hero skins not only look cool, but they also provide game bonuses and function as an economic sink for Gold cards!

Legacy Hero Skins will be tradeable items, though the official Skyweaver market won’t support them for the first month. These skins are an unlimited mint, gated only by how much players are willing to pay. There will likely be other Hero skins sold in the future, though their manner of distribution may be different.

Mira Legacy Skin

Legacy Hero Skin Sale

Legacy Hero Skins go on sale on September 22nd, in sync with Patch 100. Purchasing a Hero skin requires burning ten gold cards, and paying an amount of USDC tokens. The USDC cost starts at $20 and goes up significantly with every 10 of that particular skin purchased.

costs for minting Legacy Hero Skins

And to make things easier for players, you actually aren’t required to spend both Gold cards and USDC. Players can choose to use Gold cards to pay for the minting fee, or spend only USDC, letting the system purchase Gold cards from the market behind the scenes. All Gold cards used for purchasing these skins are burned, removing them from the market forever. And since each card only has a limited number of Gold foil versions available, this system provides a very interesting balancing point between the value of Gold cards and the value of Legacy Hero Skins.

And speaking of value, the Legacy Skins aren’t just pretty pictures. Playing matches with a Legacy Skin gives the owner a 25% bonus when earning Conquest Points! Conquest Points provide players with weekly rewards. Players earn them by winning matches, with bonuses for using Silver and Gold cards.

In hopes of driving the userbase up, Skyweaver announced a new mini-expansion, an addendum to “Clash of Inventors”, releasing in September. The new expansion is a relatively small update, and won’t change any of the existing new mechanics shipped in Skyweaver. We already explored all the details of Clash of Inventors in a previous article.

The expansion is shipping together with “Patch 100” of the game, a milestone the team is excited to reach. The mini-update includes 20 new cards, 10 units, and 10 spells, taking the total available cards available for deckbuilding to 600.

What to Expect From The Mini-Expansion

As usual, Horizon Studios likes to tease us by spoiling a preview of the expansion, while holding several live events announcing new cards and events.

You can see the full card release calendar here:

expansion_schedule

A full breakdown of the spoilers can be found on their main announcement page. These are the ones picked up by our team as the most relevant and innovative to keep an eye on:

  • A unit that costs more than 10 mana. This could lead to a new meta composition for aggro decks and fans of big creatures;
  • A card that’s inspired by a Wisdom Card;
  • A strength card that can draw a 3 cost card;
  • An agility card that can deal 10+ points of direct damage to an enemy hero when paired with another agility card;
  • A 6 cost unit that can grow as large as 13/13 – huge monsters, low cost!

The first card announced together with the post is “Hugeify”, an earth spell with a mana cost of 8 targeting ally units giving them 8/8 and Dash.

Make sure to follow the schedule if you’re interested in learning about the new cards step by step. Following the Play to Earn magazine also ensures you don’t miss any update, as we cover Skyweaver on a weekly basis.

In conclusion, this small expansion doesn’t add any meaningful change to the gameplay but could impact the meta decks massively. The introduction of a greatly powerful spell, multiple powerful creatures, and more buffs for ally cards makes deckbuilding better and adds more gold cards to the game, increasing the play-to-earn aspect.

This small expansion can boost user base and provide avid players a chance to dust off some old compositions.

Skyweaver dropped news of new, weekly rewards for playing Conquest mode. Now, in addition to Silver and Gold cards, players earn weekly chests while playing Conquest. These chests may include cards, cosmetics, or even special items that cannot be found anywhere else! This feature is expected to go live with Patch 100, sometime later this year.

Skyweaver exists in an interesting place. Somewhere between a regular web game, and a web3 game. They have no token. And their cards can’t be traded externally. But they do support in-house trading for USDC tokens using a liquidity pool system. And they have an in-game wallet to enable easy transfer of USDC to and from the game ecosystem via the Polygon network. And, they have a play-to-earn system in place!

Skyweaver also does not sell any of their cards. That’s right, a card game that doesn’t sell cards! Instead, All cards are earned by players through playing the game. Some Silver cards are generated as rewards to the top players on the leaderboards every week, but Gold cards are only created when players win three Conquest matches in a row.

The game is completely free to play, though buying a key to enter Conquest mode costs $1.50 USDC.

Conquest Weekly Rewards

Skyweaver Conquest weekly rewards chart

Skyweaver offers a play-to-earn economy via a special game mode called Conquest. Players can buy tickets for Conquest mode with USDC. Winning Conquest games rewards Silver and Gold cards. These cards can be directly traded in-game for USDC. If you’re a competent and consistent player, it is very possible to make more money selling cards than you spend buying Conquest keys!

Now Skyweaver introduces another layer, weekly Conquest points. Earn Conquest points by playing, to level up your Treasure chest, which opens automatically at the end of every week. Players need at least 250 points to qualify.

Players earn points for finishing matches (+4), playing with Silver cards (+1) or Gold cards (+3), or using Legacy Hero Skins (points to be determined). So, playing with a deck made up of only Gold cards would net the player a nice 94 points per match played! And in a nice, ease of life addition for the playerbase, extra Conquest points carry over to the next week. So if you finish a week with 3,000 points, you will receive the level 4 chest and start the next week with 500 points!

This is a nice boost to the Skyweaver economy. Increasing the potential rewards encourages players to spend more time in Conquest mode. On top of that, adding bonuses for using Silver and Gold cards provides extra value to what was otherwise mostly just a cosmetic item.

Skyweaver launches their first major card expansion, titled Clash of Inventors. Featuring 50 new cards, Clash of Inventors is sure to shake up the game meta. Each Prism gains 10 cards total — four spells and six creatures. Additionally there are three new token units that are only brought into play by other units or spells.

Though Skyweaver fits in the play to earn genre, that’s not really it’s focus. That’s more of a side gig. Skyweaver is first and foremost a game. One that utilizes some blockchain technology, but is still very much game focused on gameplay. Balance patches are a regular thing. As are card updates and mini-expansions. But now Skyweaver brings us a larger expansion with 50 new cards in total, called Clash of Inventors.

And as you might guess from the expansion’s name, this set includes lots of gadgets, gizmos, and mechanical monstrosities! With a balanced selection of cards for each Prism, everyone should find something in this new set that interests them.

Along with the fifty new cards, Clash of Inventors also introduces a new unit Trait, Dash. Dash allows units to attack other units on the turn they are summoned. This is a standard unit ability for these sorts of card games, and works just like Blitz in Gods Unchained.

The Clash of Inventors expansion also builds on themes within each Prism. For example, Strength is about summoning big creatures and stomping your opponent into the ground. One perfect example of this theme is the new Chromeosaur that has decent stats, sports the Dash trait, lowers the cost of other big units in your hand, and has the Chomp spell attached to it!

Other Prism specific strategies receive extra support with this expansion. Playstyles such as Agility receiving bonuses from losing Health, Wisdom finding synergy with cards that reward them for holding a full hand, and Heart playing with the Graveyard to its advantage.

And how much do packs for this new expansion cost? Nothing. In fact, they’re not even for sale! Players earn cards by playing the game. And now, some of those cards will be from the Clash of Inventors expansion. But Clash of Inventors doesn’t end here. It will have its own mini-supplement of 20 cards. This minor expansion should arrive later this summer.

Skyweaver Card Economy

Skyweaver is completely free to play. And with over 500 cards, it offers many options for playstyles. Players earn Base cards by playing the game as they level up. These cards are account bound and cannot be moved or traded. Only Silver and Gold foil cards can be traded — and those are acquired by playing in Conquest mode or by being on top of the leaderboards. Leaderboards hand out rewards weekly, while Conquest mode is available whenever you are ready for the challenge.

a few Gold cards for sale

Conquest mode is kind of like a single elimination mini-tournament. You play matches using a games until you either lose or win three in a row. Winning one match rewards a silver card, two matches rewards two silver cards, and if you manage to win three in a row, you receive one Gold card and One Silver card,

Tickets for Conquest mode cost $1.50 USDC. Silver cards currently sell for $1 and up, while Gold cards go for $3 all the way up to $16 for the more popular ones. So, if you can win three matches in a row, you might actually make a little money playing Skyweaver. Conquest mode supports both Constructed (build your own deck), and Discovery (pick a hero and receive a pseudo random deck in that hero’s Prisms). Though you can’t switch between them once you’ve kicked off a Conquest run.

Silver and Gold cards are visual only. They provide no added bonuses. Though, if there is a card you want to include in your deck but that you haven’t found yet, then may consider purchasing a Gold or Silver version. So there is a small but steady demand for these cards.

Skyweaver uses an interesting market technique where it functions as the middleman for all transactions, holding each card in a liquidity pool along with USDC tokens. As more players sell their cards, the USDC in the pool shrinks resulting in cheaper cards and vice-versa. Each card has its own pool, allowing players to set the market value.

How to get Started in Skyweaver?

The on-boarding process is very smooth and the tutorials available make the game easy to approach even if you are unfamiliar with the trading card game genre. Before entering PvP arenas you will need to gain experience by battling against bots. You will earn basic cards and heroes along the way to help build your first decks.

The game is played in your web browser or with the native apps available for PC, Mac, iOS and Android. All the information to get started can be found on www.skyweaver.net/get-started.

Although Skyweaver doesn’t bring anything revolutionary in the trading card game field, we love the atmosphere of the game. The graphics, visual effects, sounds and overall user experience are very high quality. We also love the fact that the game can be played on any device and is totally free to play, giving any player chances to compete and win. With this open beta, Skyweaver positions itself as a real alternative to Gods Unchained or Splinterlands, the two leaders in the blockchain trading card games genre.

After a successful soft launch back in November, the trading card game Skyweaver just opened its beta version to all players. The game is free-to-play and has been under development since 2018. The beta version is already a well polished version of the game and is available on PC, Mac and mobile.

Since the first alpha release in December 2018, the Horizon team has been hard at work and kept delivering updates to the Skyweaver project. Since the economy went live on Polygon mainnet in Novembrer, players have clocked up over 446,000 gameplay hours across almost 1.7 million games, spending over $1.8 million via Skyweaver’s marketplace. Players have been competing and winning tradable NFT cards in the Weekly Ranked leaderboards and the competitive Conquest game mode — the only mode where the ultra-rare ‘Gold’ cards can be minted through gameplay.

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, is an investor in Skyweaver and a strong believer in the game’s potential as you can read in his quote below.

“I’ve been fortunate to be an investor in Skyweaver from the start, but most importantly, I was a fan first. It was the first game that really opened my eyes to the vast potential of play-to-earn and NFT gaming. I wrote about play-to-earn 3 years ago and the trend is even more obvious now. The future of this space will be dictated by companies like Horizon, who have been hard at work building a community and meticulously refining their product to not only appeal to Web3 gamers but to gaming audiences at large.”

This new release does not bring major updates to the gameplay found in the closed beta. The main change is that now, anyone can join the game and start battling for NFTs!

The graphics and visual effects are beautiful and smooth on all devices

Skyweaver Gameplay Overview

Similar to many other trading card games, players summon creatures, cast spells and battle other players in online battle arenas. The concept is easy to understand, but players can combine cards, which creates deep game mechanics. Skyweaver offers different playing styles, while cards feature attributes like strength, agility, intellect, heart and wisdom.

Players earn new cards based on their performance in the online leaderboards. One of the most wanted items in Skyweaver is the so-called gold cards. Player-owned cards are stored in their cryptocurrency wallet, and as a result, these cards can be traded on public marketplaces. Skyweaver currently has 500 cards, and new cards are constantly being added. Players can create up to 50 decks.

Core the player tactics are the prisms. These are a bit like player classes, and these determine how you build your deck. For example, there’s agility, heart, strength, intellect and wisdom. A deck with one prism card has 20 cards. A dual-prism deck has 30 cards. Based on your prisms, you will play aggressive, defense, use lots of combos, raise cards for the afterlife, use lots of magic etc.

In Skyweaver, you control a Hero, and must do battle with an enemy (human or AI). You both fight using cards that can be summoned to the playing field. When you deplete the enemy Hero’s Life, you win a match. If you lose all yours, you are defeated. Your ultimate goal is to compete and win against other Skyweavers.
