It’s been four months since Riot Racers introduced renting and breeding to their play and earn racing game. And, as seems to happen with many play to earn games, the value of the RIOT token has steadily declined as players began cashing out their earnings. But this latest update introduces car upgrades and staking as additional use cases for their game token, as well as a few other game improvements.

In a stop-gap measure to try and control the bleed-out of the RIOT token value, Riot Racers added a daily token withdrawal limit a while back. And though they now have more in-game uses for RIOT, they’ve chosen to keep the withdrawal limit but tie limit increases to a new Achievement System. Also including Car upgrades, token staking, billboard implementation, and new rental splits, this is a significant update for the play to earn racing game.

What’s in this update?

Riot Racers upgrades
upgrade options in Riot Racers

This update adds one of the biggest features, and an important usage for the RIOT token, Car Upgrades. Players can visit Mechanic Shops to upgrade various car parts. Upgrading costs RIOT tokens, and at the higher levels USDC as well. And though there are seven different car parts to upgrade, it seems that which part is upgraded doesn’t really matter. All that affects the race results is the overall Car Rating, which increases with each upgrade and maxes out at 24,000.

Riot Racers introduced an Achievements section for players as well, though it’s pretty basic. Achievements are divided into two sections, Owners and Renters. Owners move up the Achievement ladder by owning more cars, staking RIOT tokens, and entering paid races. Renters gain Achievement levels by staking RIOT and entering paid races. Each level increases the maximum daily withdrawal of RIOT tokens for the player. It also provides a bonus income from the free races. That last bit seems a little counter-intuitive to me. Wouldn’t you rather encourage players to enter more paid races?

Owners can now specify two different rental rates for their assets. One for Training School races, which are free, and another percentage for paid races. This is a nice feature and makes a huge difference in the rental market. We now see percentages as high as 95% for paid races on some rentals!

The first iteration of billboards is in place. Billboard owners can now specify a banner that displays at the top Riot Racers app.

Riot Racers Achievements
first three Achievement levels

Riot Racers added a basic staking program for RIOT tokens on their website. Unfortunately, there is no return for doing so. In fact, the only purpose staking RIOT serves, is to reach the Achievement levels of 2 and higher. But since reaching level 2 also requires owning 10 cars, with a total car rating of 50,000 (for a reference point, my seven cars currently provide a total rating of 5,000), the number of players who have a reason to stake is low. The team promises to add lockup periods and rewards for staking in a later update.

Extra Thoughts

This release did give a nice 8% boost to the value of RIOT tokens, though I don’t know if it will hold. Riot Racers has been in need of an update since they released their rental system. And while this does bring some important features, it does very little to make the game any more interesting.

As one of the few blockchain games around with an active, working rental system, Riot Racers has a position of strength. But whether they can take advantage of that position remains to be seen.

Riot Racers continues to build on its play-to-earn, racing simulation. After already implementing paid races, a rental system, and a breeding for cars and drivers, Riot Racers adds the ability for players to create their own racing tournaments, and also provides a 3D replay for every race!

For the past few months, Riot Racers has allowed players to play and earn, even if they didn’t own any Riot Racers assets. But the game is still in its early stages, with a number of features still under development. Now, we have the first versions of two of those missing features, player-created tournaments, and 3D racing.

The team expects to also add a staking program for RIOT tokens, an achievement system, card upgrades, and billboards. All before the end of the month!

3D Racing

For every completed race in Riot Racers, players now have the option of watching the race replay in a 3D animation. Thankfully, this is just the first version. Because, to be honest, it’s pretty boring. The graphics look nice. But with nothing much to see besides the cars shifting positions as they speed down a straight track, watching the replays becomes old very quickly. We know that the team plans to add options for special paint jobs and other customization which will be visible on the cars during races. And there will also be billboards, owned by players, that can be rented out for advertisements. Hopefully, the billboards will be present enough to satisfy the advertisers, but unobtrusive enough so that they don’t distract from the race action.

Future updates to the replay system bring visual track conditions and weather effects, varying camera angles, music, and sound effects, crashes during the race, and more! I’m looking forward to all of these features!

Loading the races takes an exceedingly long time. I’m really not sure what has to be loaded here that makes me wait two minutes to watch a race. The race viewer also seems prone to crashes. Definitely room for improvements here.

Tournaments

Players can now create their own Riot Racers tournaments. Tournament hosts decide the prize pool, the number of heats, the number of racers, and the race and track details for each heat. Tournaments have specific start times, with a designated pause between each race in the tournament. Whichever racer wins the most heats wins the tournament.

What is Riot Racers?

Riot Racers is a play-to-earn racing game in which gamers can earn by playing the game or owning parts of the game ecosystem. Players own cars, which they can upgrade using RIOT tokens. They earn RIOT by competing in races. Before joining a race, players pick a driver, car, and a strategy based on the race conditions. With multiple attributes for both Drivers and Cars, varying track conditions based on weather, and six different strategy options, there are enough variables to make every race different.

Cars fuel up at gas stations before a race. Once started, the game generates the race in the background based on the entrants’ choices, track conditions, and some random factors. The outcome of a race is determined primarily by the player’s race selections, though Cars and Drivers with higher XP and better upgrades do have some slight advantages. The top finishers of each competitive race earn rewards, paid in RIOT tokens. The game just recently added the first version of their 3D race replays.

Riot Racers offers passive income through renting out Cars and Drivers, or owning a business or part of a racetrack. Gas Stations, Mechanic Shops, and Racetrack pieces are all in high demand. Track owners receive a portion of the entry fees for every race run on their track. Meanwhile, Mechanics and Gas Stations earn tokens when players use their facilities for gassing up and repairing their Cars. In addition, Billboard owners can advertise their own product or service, or rent the billboard out for some side income!

The year of blockchain gaming releases is in full swing now with games like Stepn, Riot Racers, and Crypto Unicorns launching their games. But, we also begin to see some fallout from the depressed crypto market, and the increased competition for keeping the attention of the blockchain gaming community.

Riot Racers

Riot Racers Breeding Banner

Having just released their breeding and rental system, Riot Racers has already been forced to respond to the huge increase in players. They’ve boosted their server capacity, increased the number of races being generated, and even increased the payouts for races! Expect the userbase for this game continue to grow as guilds and scholarships get settled in. And they still have a number of features such as visual races and mechanic shops to implement.

Riot Racers is the most recent game to join what is a rather small selection of free-to-play, play-to-earn games.

Otherside

Though we know almost nothing about the game, their initial land sale brought the Ethereum network to its knees. And though we haven’t been promised any updates, I would expect to get more info as the month progresses. The secondary trading volume of Otherdeeds (land plots in Otherside) is already at the top of the charts on Open Sea!

Crypto Unicorns

We’ve bred Cryptokitties, and Axies, ducks, and even mechanical horses. But, as far as I know, this is the first time we’ve been introduced to car breeding! Riot Racers released new details about their upcoming breeding functionality, which covers both Drivers and Cars.

Already running a functional racing beta with both paid and free racing, Riot Racers has been tweaking their race payouts, adding new courses and weather effects (resulting in some very interesting races!), and preparing for the next phase, breeding! Breeding includes both Cars and Drivers and dovetails with a planned Rental system that should be landing at the same time.

this racecourse is on fire during a hurricane!

With the coding for the visual, 3D representation of the races already in progress, Riot Racers is very quickly putting together all of the pieces to their game.

Breeding and Spawning

3D racing preview

Riot Racers consists of three generations of assets — Genesis, Apollo, and Artemis. Artemis, the newest class, includes any assets created via breeding. Spawning consists of pairing two Cars or two Drivers to create a new NFT. Spawning a new Driver requires pairing a Male and a Female Driver together, or two Mechas. Any two Cars can be bred together. For those with only one Car or Driver, never fear! Riot Racers features the option to pair with neutral, unowned game assets known as the “Milk Truck” and the “Queen B”.

When two cars spawn, the offspring will be rarity equal to the lowest of the two cars. Drivers, on the other hand, spawn with random results (except for paired Mechas who will always create a Mecha offspring). NFTs from the Artemis collection have some limitations. Artemis Drivers have the same range of total skill ratings (323-433) as Genesis Drivers. However, instead of those stats being randomly distributed through the five skill categories, they are split evenly across the board, meaning that the highest skill an Artemis Driver could have is 86. Also, Artemis Cars do not earn experience.

In addition, every Artemis asset has a Time to Retire value of 9 months. This means that after nine months, that asset can no longer be used for racing or breeding! Though we don’t have any details, the team plans to add some use case for retired assets. A burning mechanism would make sense to me, but we’ll see what the Riot Racers team decides on.

Riot Racers Car Breeding Costs
the cost of breeding

To keep the market from being completely flooded with new Cars and Drivers, there are Spawning limits. Each Car and Driver can spawn a maximum of seven (7) times. For Artemis collection NFTs, this is a permanent limitation. Genesis and Apollo collections have their spawn limits reset every few months. Every asset used for breeding or generated as a result of breeding triggers two cooldown timers. These timers prevent the asset from breeding and racing. Timer length varies based on asset Class and ranges range from 24 to 96 hours for breeding, and 0 or 24 hours for racing.

And as you might guess, Spawning new assets is not free of charge. In fact, the price is kind of steep! Spawning a new Driver costs 1500 RIOT tokens plus $50 USDT! Breeding Cars can cost even more. In fact, this price may seem too much for owners with few assets. But, this is where the rental system comes into play!

Riot Racers Rental System

Having seen and experienced first-hand the power and value of an accessible rental market in Splinterlands, I am going on the record and stating that rental systems will be a must-have for most play-to-earn games going forward. Those without them will soon find themselves falling behind. In this regard, Riot Racers is ahead of the curve, already planning the release of their rental system in tandem with the breeding system.

One of the best part of the rental system in Riot Racers is that Renters pay nothing upfront. The whole system runs on commission. Owners set a commission percentage when posting their rental. Anyone who wins tokens while renting that asset automatically pays the appropriate percentage of their winnings back to the owner. No need for any extra input from the renter or owner! And though some races require RIOT tokens to enter, there is also a constant stream of free races available. It is most definitely possible to work you way into a play and earn situation with zero investment!

This is a trustless rental system. The owner’s assets never leave their wallet and they can cancel the rentals at any time. Players can rent up to 10 Drivers and 10 Cars at a time. Owners may also choose to rent to a specific player, allowing for easy setup and coordination of a scholar system. In fact, some guilds are already filling their garages in preparation! We don’t have an official release date yet, but it should be soon!

Riot Racers quietly moved from testing, free-race only phase into paid racing mode. And while there are still many unreleased features, Riot Racers is following the development model of solidifying the most important, base code before moving on to releasing additional features. Players who own both a Car and a Driver can now join in paid, and free races, all of which pay out rewards in RIOT tokens!

After testing the waters with weeks of free racing, Riot Racers moves onto the next stage of their racing game. Players now have the option of joining races with entry fees that provide rewards in RIOT tokens to the top three finishers.

In addition, the Riot Racers team recently introduced Racing School. These are free-to-enter races with a maximum of 3 entrants each. Everyone in these races wins just a little bit of RIOT token. These are meant to function practice races, allowing players a chance to try out different Driver, Car, and strategy combos in meaningful races without breaking the bank. Though there is no entrance fee for Racing School events, they do require a captcha completion to discourage botting.

Spawning new Cars and Drivers

Soon there will be a system allowing Car and Driver owners to create the next generation of NFTs. It feels a little weird to refer to Cards ‘breeding’ to make new Cars, so Riot Racers is instead using the term ‘Spawning’. This new generation of Cars and Drivers will be part of the Artemis collection (tier 2). Cars and Drivers from the Artemis collection do not have rarities, and will only have basic designs.

Also, unlike Tier 1, Tier 2 NFTs have a limited lifespan. It’s unclear if this a real-time countdown, or based on the number of races entered. Either way, after a certain point Cars and Drivers from the Artemis collection will be retired and can no longer be used for racing. Tier 1 (Genesis) NFTs never retire and also provide bonuses during Spawning.

A few Riot Racers cars
A few Riot Racers cars

Spawning takes two NFTs as well as RIOT tokens and ETH. Each NFT has a limit of how often it can Spawn and total Spawning uses. Players can use their own assets for minting or rent them from the market.

You can match up any two cars to Spawn a new one. They don’t need to be matching classes. However, the Artemis class Car created from the mint will be the same class as the lower of the two parents, so that’s an important point to keep in mind.

When matching Drivers, sex does matter. A player needs one male Driver and one female Driver to spawn a new Driver. Drivers are spawned with random traits, making even the most lowly skilled Driver still useful. Mechas, which are Drivers that are neither male or female, will have a special use case in the future.

Rentals and other Updates

Rentals will be an important part of the Riot Racers ecosystem, especially since rented Drivers and Cars can be used to spawn new, Artemis class NFTs. This provides a lot of additional, potential value to renters. And to owners with large collections who perhaps don’t have the time or the inclination to manage to breed their entire inventory!

Spawning and Renting are both expected to land in Q2 of 2022.

Other features that should be coming this year include 3D race replays, Car upgrades, and tournaments!

Earning by Holding

Riot Racers features a passive earning system for token and NFT holders called the Riot Owners Club. Club membership comes in 5 different ranks, from Genesis level to Ludicrous level. Each one requires holding various amounts of Riot Racers resources. For example, enrolling in the Genesis level club requires owning at least 1 Genesis car, and at least 100 RIOT tokens.

Club members are rewarded daily at midnight UTC time. This reward does not accumulate and must be claimed every day. Track owners have an additional earning system that does accumulate and can be claimed at any time. Claims are free of charge and deposited directly to your in-game wallet.

The official launch of Riot Racers draws near. They’ve started their open beta. They’ve sold Genesis cars, gas stations, mechanic shops, racetracks, and drivers. Now comes the first round of the Apollo Car drop, the last before the play to earn opportunities kick in! This drop runs for two days and includes both a whitelist sale and a public sale.

With beta testing well underway, Riot Racers is now ready to unleash their next car collection and gear up for the next phase of beta, slated to land at the end of February. This new car set is known as Apollo, and it lands on February 23rd and 24th. The Racers team dropped hints about an artist collaboration being part of the collection! I’m excited to see what sort of new looks this might bring!

The first drop, on the 23rd, is a whitelist drop for those who purchased Riot Racers Drivers during their sale back in December. For each Driver purchased, the owner can buy one Apollo Car. After that, on the 24th, the sale is public and open to all! The drops come in two groups. One for Rookie, Rally, and Driver cars, and one for the rarer class of Cars — Tracker, Aero, Pro, and Legendary. Cars in the first group cost 0.07 ETH apiece to mint, while group two cars cost 0.18 ETH. There are 40-45 varieties of cars in all.

This is a blind mint, meaning you won’t know exactly what car you’ve bought until the reveal, which will happen three or four days after the drop. Players must own both a Car and a Driver to race. Owning multiple cars and drivers provides more options and racing opportunities. Though not as exclusive as the Genesis cars (3,333 minted), the Apollo class is still limited to 7,777 cars total. It’s unclear how many in total will be up for sale this month.

Riot Racers has been running an open beta test for car and driver owners for a few weeks now. But so far, the races are all free to enter and have zero payout. However, that will soon change! The Riot Racers team plans to launch paid racing with rewards for the top finishers and payouts for racetrack owners!

But perhaps even more enticing to current NFT owners is the Riot Owners Club. The Owners Club provides special bonus NFTs and rewards for owning Cars and/or Land as well as RIOT tokens, and racing on a daily basis. Target date for release of these features is February 28th.

This also coincides with the planned release of their in-game wallet, allowing for more in-game transactions as well as reward claims. Players will need to deposit RIOT or ETH into their wallet to get started on the paid races. Any ETH deposited will be converted into RIOT tokens. The wallet will accept deposits from both the Polygon network, and the Ethereum network.

Taking the first step towards a public beta, Riot Racers just opened up a private beta. With an initial, small group of about two dozen people, the Riot Racers team plans to add more players progressively, leading up to the expected public beta launch on January 21, 2022.

After finishing up sales for cars, track pieces, gas stations, and drivers, Riot Racers is finally ready to start up their private beta. Though only a few players get to participate initially, additional invites will be sent out over the coming weeks. Teams / Guilds get first priority, though open invitations may also appear in Discord, so keep an eye on their server for beta opportunities.

The Private beta is for testing purposes and will run on a different URL than the main app. Drivers and Cars can gain experience during the beta, but expect all progress from the Private beta to be wiped once the Public Beta launches.

select a driver

Joining a Riot Racers race requires a Car and a Driver. After selecting a race to enter, players are shown the track details and race conditions. With that information, they select a Car and Driver, and then choose from numerous strategy options. This ranges from racing style to tires to engine tuning. Six options in all!

And though rarer Cars and Drivers have better stats, the bulk of the race results are based on the Race Strategy selections. Race Strategy counts 51% towards your results, with Car selection accounting for 29% and Driver selection, the remaining 20%. This provides more opportunities for less expensive Driver / Car combinations to win if they make the right strategy choices.

The interface looks very nice and organized and easy to understand. Unfortunately, the game visualizations aren’t ready yet. But not to worry! The team says that full, 3D race replays should arrive in about six weeks.

Public beta scheduled for January 21, 2022 with the full game launch sometime in late February.

They earn RIOT by competing in races. Before joining a race, they need to pick a car and a strategy based on the race conditions. Gamers also need to visit a gas station to get some fuel, which serves as an entry fee.

The game generates the race in the background based on the entrants’ choices and track conditions and some random factors. The outcome of a race is determined primarily by the player’s race strategy though Cars and Drivers with higher XP and better upgrades have some slight advantages. However, there are enough variables in every race to make it exciting. The top finishers of each competitive race earn rewards, paid in RIOT tokens.

Another way to earn in Riot Racers is by owning a part of the game, for example, a mechanic shop, gas station, or a piece of the track. The game offers 20 gas stations in total, and only 7 tracks made up out of 1400 parts. Track owners receive a portion of the entry fees for every race run on their track, while Mechanics and Gas Stations earn tokens when players use their facilities for gassing up and repairing their Cars.

Through billboards, also an NFT, another earning opportunity presents itself. Here gamers can advertise their own product or perhaps rent it out to third parties. Riot Racers is expected to launch in late February of 2022.

The blockchain-powered racing game Riot Racers has announced Riot Racers Drivers, characters that determine how a car will drive in the game. There are 11.111 drivers in the Genesis collection, and this first collection of drivers will have some crossover capabilities with future games in the wider Riot metaverse environment. The first drivers will drop on December 2nd.

Drivers in Riot Racers are the main ingredient for play-to-earn. Each time a driver races, they will earn RIOT tokens. This would also include the free races, which don’t require an entry fee. The amount of RIOT these characters earn, depends on their performance in the race. Winning percentage, earnings and completed races are key performance indicators that determine the rankings of these drivers.

So how do you get these drivers? Well, you can buy them in the upcoming sale of course. On December 2nd the first sale will take place. A total of 7600 NFT drivers will sell on the Riot Racers Marketplace for 0.07 ETH each. The team will introduce a whitelist, so keep an eye on their Discord.

In addition there will be an airdrop for Genesis NFT car holders. Each Genesis car owner will get 1 free driver. The Genesis car collection consists of 3.333 NFTs, and the owners of these NFTs will receive Drivers #1 to #3.333.

Rarities and characteristic, and why these matter

The Riot drivers have visual characteristics that determine their rarity. There are three main varieties: male, female and mecha. In addition these drivers have facial expressions, hair, hats, clothing and perhaps they smoke. Furthermore, these drivers come in different types, from least to most rare: earth, wind, water and fire. They also have different traits: speed, braking, handling, endurance and vision.

These characteristics are important when a player wants to enter a race. Upon entering a race they pick a driver and a car. Depending on the race conditions, which are for example the weather and pit conditions, certain drivers and cars will have a benefit. For example, a water-type driven will have a benefit when driving in the rain.

Drivers will impact 20% of the race outcome. As an active player in the ecosystem, it would make sense to have multiple drivers. Each of them would then be useful under different racing conditions.

Giveaways and future sales

On December 2nd the Riot Racers Drivers NFT sale will take place on the official marketplace. Each of the 7600 drivers will sell for 0.07 ETH. Buyers only pay the transaction costs, roughly $10. You don’t pay for minting the NFTs on the Polygon network. The reveal of the Driver NFTs will take place 24 hours after the sale ended.

Alongside the NFT sale, they will also do a giveaway. A total of 150 Racetrack Land Plots will go to users who buy the Drivers. They will giveaway 35 Rookie, 95 Rally, 8 Tracker, 7 Aero, 3 Pro, and 2 Legendary racetrack land plots. Every 50th Driver bought will win a Racetrack Land Plot. They will start with the Rookie Class and end with the Legendary ones. This means that the people who buy #7.550 and #7.600 will win the Legendary Racetrack Land Plots.

In addition, buying a Driver earns you a spot on the Apollo Car Collection whitelist. This Apollo collection is a brand new collection of cars and game assets that Riot Racers will add once the Genesis collection of assets sold out. Purchasing a driver gets you 1 whitelist spot, limited to 5 spots per wallet. This whitelisting mechanic only counts for those who buy during the sale, so secondary market purchases do not count.

Join the Riot Racers Discord to stay in the know about whitelisting for the Drivers NFT sale.

The play-to-earn car racing game Riot Racers announced plans to extend their reach and create a wider multiverse based around their games. After already launching two successful sales for Cars, Mechanic Shops, Gas Stations, and sections of Racetracks, Riot Racers sets their sights on bigger goals. They will introduce more games in their ecosystem.

Blockchain games are great, but the entire ecosystem is now all about play-to-earn and ‘the metaverse’. The metaverse is a virtual environment where users can share digital items, information or value. It’s all about connecting different virtual worlds under one umbrella: the metaverse. Despite marketing talk, there’s no such thing as launching a metaverse. Projects simply open up, and join the metaverse. Riot Games is now adding their signature racing game to the metaverse in a big way.

Players can own land in the Riot Metaverse (we assume the name is a player holder) and choose how to develop it. Players could setup businesses such as a car resale showroom, paint shop, or club. I’m envisioning a drivable city where players can cruise around and show off their cars before heading over to a racetrack to participate in a race. Other players watch the races or hang out on the streets while waiting for their custom paint jobs to finish.

At least that’s how I imagine it. Hopefully we’ll get more details soon on what the Riot Metaverse will look like. Sales for land in the Riot Metaverse begin in early 2022 with the first gameplay experience arriving in late 2022.

The RIOT token

Like most blockchain companies these days, Riot Racers will release their own token, RIOT. Already announced as the token for Riot Racers, RIOT also functions as the currency for the Riot Metaverse. RIOT lands on Uniswap on September 30th, 2021. Players must bridge the token over to the Polygon network in order to use it in any Riot games or markets.

The first uses of the RIOT token include renaming cars and visiting Mechanic Shops or Gas Stations. It is also needed for racing fees and car upgrades such as improved engines or tires. But that is all just to start. Expect to see more uses for RIOT as their gaming portfolio expands and their Metaverse opens up.

Other games

A good metaverse needs more than one game. And the Riot team has that angle covered. Besides Riot Racers, the team is planning two other games — Riot Rampage and Riot Rush.

Riot Rampage is a street fighting game where players own fighters who can be upgraded with weapons and shields Riot Rush is some sort of running game where players are chased by Riot Robots. Player ownership of game features such as weapons shops and battlegrounds are promised for both games.

No further details about either game have been released yet. Development on the new games won’t begin until Riot Racers is released.

After selling a whole load of race car NFTs and garages, Riot Racers is now working towards the release of their RIOT token. They are planning to release RIOT in late September. But how will this token work, and how can players earn and use the RIOT token in Riot Racers? That’s what we will find out!

When gamers are playing Riot Racers, the RIOT token will function as an in-game currency. They will use it to obtain items, gain access to races, or special events. Players can level up their cars with all kinds of upgrades. Before each race they also need to make sure to buy gas at the gas station for which they need RIOT tokens.

It’s safe to say that there’s a plethora of options to spend your RIOT tokens, but did you know you can also earn these tokens? Part of the RIOT spent at gas stations will move into the rewards pool. The top 3 players of each race claims these RIOT rewards: the winner gets 50% and second and third will split the remaining rewards. These are the basics of how to earn RIOT tokens, and how to spend them as well.

RIOT is much more than a game currency

Using RIOT to play the game is just one of many ways gamers can make use of the token. Aside from buying, selling and winning, gamers can also use the RIOT token to stake and earn interest on their holdings. Furthermore, RIOT holders can participate in The Council of Racers, which is a governance system that votes on game fees, token distributions and other changes to the game’s ecosystem. The team designed it as an ERC-20 utility and governance token.

In total, RIOT token has a finite supply capped to 250 million tokens. There has not been a pre-sale for investors, meaning that gamers and the community will be among the first to get their hands on RIOT. They minted the ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network, before bridging the tokens to Polygon. The team will use 45% of the total supply for play-to-earn and game rewards, while using 25% as a reserve. The remaining 30% has been allocated to the team (20%), operations (5%) and player incentives (5%).

Obviously the team does not want the token to drop in value. That’s why they’ve created an ecosystem where the game and its activities create a natural demand for the RIOT token. Furthermore, the staking program will encourage players to hold their rewards instead of selling them. The team can increase and decrease game rewards to find a perfect balance, while future gaming features will create continued demand.

RIOT token in a nutshell

  • Use RIOT tokens to buy upgrades and other in-game assets
  • Pay for gas, which allows racers to join a race
  • The top 3 winners of each race take home RIOT tokens as a reward
  • RIOT holders can stake their assets for passive income, or interest
  • RIOT holders get to vote on governance topics in the Council of Racers
