A lot of web games talk about player ownership of the game and player governance. But Planet IX is taking things a step further by giving players an ownership stake in some of the basic game functions! This ownership comes in the form of MetaShare NFTs, shares for the in-game corporations. Each corporation is associated with a specific task and earns income from players using those features. This includes game functions such as Waste refining, crafting, raffles, or, in this case, the in-game marketplace!

Though the total number of shares for Netempire will total 9,999, only 1,998 of those are available in this upcoming sale. And owning a piece of Netempire early on could prove to be extremely lucrative. Players who stake their shares earn rewards from the treasury pool. Netempire refills it’s treasury from the NFT sales associated with the corporation (40% of the sales value), as well as commissions from the in-game marketplace. So as long as players are using the game markets for trades, then this corporation should have no trouble keeping its treasury full!

The Planet IX team says that the Netempire treasury pool already has over 500,000 IXT tokens in it from the sales of Netempire Genesis NFTs, making those first few months of staking income particularly valuable!

The mint will be at https://planetix.com/mint and each share will cost 0.08 ETH, payable in ETH, USDT, MATIC or IXT tokens. Each wallet may mint as many shares as they would like.

We haven’t been given an exact date yet for the mint. Keep an eye on the Planet IX social channels for further announcements (Twitter, Discord).

In addition to this mint, players can also hold onto Netempire Genesis NFTs, which will provide an airdrop of one Netempire Metashare to each owner. The Genesis NFTs also provide other, ongoing bonuses such as airdrops, and 1000 PIX (plots, basically) each month! Netempire Genesis NFTs are still available to mint for 0.19 ETH.

What is Planet IX?

DappRadar cant seem to make up their minds, as Iskra is back on top of their charts this week, even with a 78% decline in active users. But we talked before about how most of the Iskra player count comes from users (bots most likely) hitting the website for the daily spin-to-win feature. Which is a good example of how stats like these can be misleading at times. But, we work with what we have, and these numbers are still meaningful.

Planet IX goes down. Planet IX goes up. After a 50% reduction in active players last week, Planet IX rebounds with a 50% gain this week. Splinterlands managed to stop their bleeding, for now at least. Though they are still way down from their peak of 300k weekly users.

Otherwise, we still have the usual list of suspects in our top 10 this week.

Well look at this. A project not affiliated with BAYC takes the top spot this week! Azuki leads the pack with an impressive 23 million in sales over the past week!

And despite some major increases for a few projects, overall NFT sales continue to remain depressed this week. Which reinforces the idea that a lot of the heavy activity over the past few months was wash trading and market manipulation rather than actual user interest.

We also have another surprising entry from Blocklords. This is a rare sighting of a game project in the top 10, and is also the only project in the top 20 on Immutable X. Though I suspect we may see more from Immutable X over the coming months!

The latest drop from Planet IX, Cargo Drop 3, includes a number of NFTs and packs within it. Inside of each Cargo Drop 3 pack, players will find a Rover, an Avatar Pack, and a Large pack.

Rovers come in three varieties and assist players with collecting resources, and they can also find M3ta-M0ds, which allow players to upgrade facilities. Avatars are non-playable characters, but they will offer in-game utility as well as access to future airdrops and other bonuses.

Large packs contain a variety of game NFTs, including a guaranteed 1,111 PIX! Purchasers can also find Facilities, Landmarks, and even Metashares in their Cargo pods! There is certainly enough here to give a player a nice boost to their game empire!

In addition, Cargo Drop 3 comes with the new C-Tile contract. This contract opens up a third layer of stakeable hexes for players around their Mission Control. Each Cargo pack costs $199. There are a maximum of 100,000 Cargo Drop 3 mints available. Players can make purchases on the official Cargo Drop 3 page.

Planet IX has been one of the most popular web3 games over the past couple of months. This PIX-collecting, click-miner, building game continues to grow. Their latest addition brings us an updated Mission Control, as well as the ability to build up on an extra twelve hexes!

For a limited time, players can claim one of the new Artemis, B1-B12 Tile Contracts for free. Once the contract is staked and activated, players will see a new outer ring in Mission Control with 12 new tiles. New players can also claim the Apollo contract for free, which opens up the initial six hexes.

This new contract introduces an extra level of hexes for players to develop beyond the initial six. Players can choose how many of the new tiles they wish to activate, paying a regular maintenance cost for each one. The tiles costs 1 Astro Gold per month per tile. However, anyone with a Newlands Genesis NFT can build on these tiles for free! This second ring of tiles offers better production bonuses than the first ring.

With the new Mission Control, existing players will need to unstake and restake all of their assets.

To make things a little more confusing, the game refers to their land NFTs as ‘PIX’. Players must own PIX, to then stake them into their accessible plots. These plots then generate Waste, which the player can sell for tokens to build up their plots and start producing other resources.

Players can also connect adjacent PIX into Territories, which provide extra bonuses. Planet IX is a play to earn game, and honestly, earning some tokens to sell seems to be the only reason to play this game. On top of that, opening a pack does not provide you with the PIX NFTs right away. The pack opening interface claims that these are distributed on Monday, but when I asked in the Discord server I was told to expect to wait 1-12 weeks!

In addition, even just staking one of their free Tile Contracts forced me to sign a wallet permission giving the site full rights to transfer ALL of my NFTs! That was definitely an uncomfortable transaction to sign just to try out the game!

Planet IX is multiplayer, planet cleaning game connected to the Polygon blockchain. Planet IX plans to run in a story-based, seasonal approach, with the progress of players affecting the shifting of the seasons. In this first phase, called Waters of Genesis, players (known as ‘Agents of Change’), must help restore a planet (Earth), polluted into lifelessness by a previous civilization.

Planet IX Gameplay

This first phase is mostly a stake and earn game. Players own and trade PIX NFTs, which are each one small, hexagonal section of the planet. Planet IX consists of 1.6 billion PIX, each one an individual NFT. PIX owners can combine multiple, adjacent PIX into a larger territory. PIX come in rarities, with legendary representing major city centers, and the bottom tier, Outliers, representing deserts and mountains. The rarer the PIX tile, the more it costs in IXT token to combine.

Players stake their lands to earn IXT tokens. Rarer PIX and larger tracts of land earn a larger share of the reward pool. Players can then spend IXT to build facilities on their plots to increase production. The staking pools for IXT tokens refill from sales and trading fees on the in-game marketplace.

IXT is the game token for Planet IX. It’s used for all game actions, and players will need some in their wallets before they can begin purchasing PIX plots. Players can acquire PIX by purchasing them from other players on the market, or earning a weekly pack drop.

The IXT token (available on Quickswap) only has 153 Million tokens in all, with nearly 18% of that devoted to play to earn rewards.

Players can collect and Recycle Waste from the Planet to earn raffle tickets. Players can also buy corporation shares which provide exclusive airdrops and other future game benefits.

Planet IX has a roadmap for a larger game including technology development, player run DOA organizations, more robust defi features, and more. A lack of centralized documentation makes it difficult to figure out how to really play the game. They do offer a ‘Gamebook‘, but it is very minimal and seems to be missing sections. But, this is one of the top games in regards to active users, so they must be doing something right!
