Previously, MuTerra had hosted a Maldives Pack Sale where players could purchase MuTerra’s exclusive assets. While not everyone could get it, this new launch will handle the shortcoming. Additionally, the organizers included a list of events to be featured during the launch, and everything will be available on MuTerra’s official website.

MuTerra’s Alpha Launch Ceremony

Among the events listed for the alpha launch is the Tamer License Sale. To start earning in the game, every player has to purchase a Tamer License. Also, the hint is: the more Tamer License, the more opportunities to earn. A Tamer License attracts 0.05 MUT per day and is available for $20. However, there will be a 50% discount for the first 10,000 Tamer Licenses on their website.

Secondly, Crates will be available for sale. These act as supplements during gameplay, and players can find digital collectibles by opening crates. Notably, a crate attracts 0.01 MUT daily, and there are exactly 1 million crates in the game, shared among 10 tiers.

Third is the MUT airdrop, that will take place on January 15, 2023. The airdrop will feature exclusive assets from MuTerra and will begin at 2 PM GMT/UTC. Interestingly, it will continue in the same manner, at the same time, for 5 years.

Next, there will be rewards for MUT stakers. That is, players can stake their liquid MUT and receive rewards in the form of MUT. Like the MUT airdrop, the event will also occur in the same manner for 5 years. It will be featured on January 15, 2023, at 3 PM GMT/UTC.

In the area of the alpha gameplay, there will be 5 new maps which will be available for every player to access. Here, it does not matter whether players have Tamer Licenses or not. There is an addition of non-player characters (NPCs) also to make it interactive. While all players can access the maps after the launch, players without Tamer Licenses will not be able to access the maps after a month or two.

MuTerra will also be releasing an updated whitepaper on January 14, 2023. The whitepaper will be available on the website and will contain various information, including battle mechanics and MUT faucets. Similarly, information regarding token burn values, governance of the ecosystem, and additional calculations are available in the whitepaper.

Players should expect major changes in the alpha game’s UI. It is noteworthy that the MuTerra team of developers have been working on integrating major changes in the UI long before the forthcoming Alpha launch ceremony. Features to look out for include: new pages, MUT balance, airdrop, artwork, and referral bonuses.

Regarding the previous giveaway hosted by MuTerra, the winners have been announced on the platform’s YouTube channel. Also, 50 vouchers have been given to users who tagged the winners.

Additionally, players can earn passively when they invite friends to the MuTerra platform. By inviting a friend, each player gets 1% of whatever amount the invited friend spends on the platform.

What is MuTerra?

MuTerra is a collectible card game with an interesting storyline set in a post-apocalyptic world. According to the storyline, radiation has wiped out almost half the entire human population, mutating all plants and animals. Hence, players are survivors whose jobs are to save humanity from extinction by exploring the wild and taming the mutated species.

Built on the Hive blockchain, MuTerra has been mostly quiet over the past year. But with an imminent alpha release, they have begun releasing a steady flow of information about their game and the game eocnomy.

Note: The initial sale for Tamer Licenses and the beginning of the airdrop for the MUT token should both begin around the same time the alpha launches.

Tamer Licenses

MuTerra will be free to play, but in order to play and earn, you will need a Tamer License. Licenses exist as NFTs. When they are given to a Tamer, the License is bunt and that Tamer unlocks all the features of the game. Players with multiple Tamers will need multiple Tamer Licenses.

Tamers lose their active status when transferred, requiring the new owning player to apply a new License to reactivate them. Players can also apply a Tamer License to a common, default Tamer, to turn it into a common Tamer NFT.

Tamer Licenses will cost $20, with the first 10,000 sold at a 50% discount ($10). We don’t have a date yet for this sale.

MUT Token

MUT, or Mutee Utility Token, will be the game token and used for pretty much everything. MuTerra plans to airdrop an initial distribution of MUT tokens to holders of MuTerra assets over a period of five years.

In addition, MUT token holders will have an option for token staking, earning more MUT in the process. The team plans to hand out staking rewards over five years, with the amount of awards available decreasing each year. They will also create a MUT-HIVE liquidity pool and provide rewards for that as well.

Additional sources of MUT token are NFT burning, winning battles, and collecting game resources.

Use cases for MUT include leveling up Mutees, healing Mutees, crafting and minting NFTs, buying items from the market, travelling, training, and more! The MuTerra team is very interested in making sure they have a balanced token economy.

These packs go up for sale on at 13:00 GMT on March 4th. And though the sale extends through March 11th, I don’t expect it to last that long! MuTerra held a pre-sale booking event for 4,000 packs. They were over booked within a day. This is the final sale for Maldives packs. Only 20,000 packs minted in total. The first 10,000 packs sold on Hive back in September and another 1,000 airdropped as promotional rewards. With the previously mentioned pre-sale, that leaves this sale with the final 4,000 packs!

For the first 30 minutes, only those whitelisted can make purchases. But getting whitelisted is easy. Barely an inconvenience! All you need is at least one MuTerra Promo NFT in your WAX wallet an hour before the sale. These Promo NFTs can be picked up for $2-3.

Maldives Pack Details

Packs cost $5 each, with a maximum purchase of 99 per transaction. That’s right, 99 packs. But not just per wallet. But per transaction! There will be a delay of 30 seconds, but that’s not long if a few folks decide to buy packs by the hundreds!

Maldives packs come pre-minted, so pack #1 will be distributed randomly rather than to the fastest clicker. It feels like the market for #1 mints is not what it used to be, but some people still give it value.

Payment accepted in either WAX or NEFTY, the utility token for the Nefty platform. Pack owners can can transfer the packs to the official site (https://play.muterra.in/) and open them there. Each pack contains 5 Mutees, with at least one guaranteed to be Uncommon or better. Some Mutees come in rare, gold foil versions, and some are gendered as male or female. With 20 different Mutees, these varieties result in 72 total possible card variations.

MuTerra Economics

The MuTerra team recently released a breakdown of their plan for long-term management of their game economy. The primary currency for the game is MUT, or Mutee Utility Token. This token lives on the Hive blockchain and is earned in-game through killing or capturing Mutees, burning raw materials, winning PvP matches, and won from leaderboards, tournaments, and seasonal rewards.

Players may burn Mutee NFTs, producing MUT. Considered Limited Edition, Mutees from the Maldives packs have MUCH higher burn rates than the Mutees found in the wild.

There will be around 250 different raw materials that can be found in-game. Materials are categorized as Minerals, Plants, and Mutee parts. Used for crafting, players can also exchange raw materials directly for MUT.

So what’s the use of MUT? The team has put some thought into their economy, and created a number of sinks and use-cases for the MUT token. Leveling up Mutees, boosting stamina regeneration, crafting, and purchasing Materials Crates are the main MUT sinks.

In addition to finding Materials in the wild, players will also be able to purchase Crates full of goodies. One million Crates in all, divided into ten tiers of one million each. The price for these crates starts at $1 each and increases by another 1$ with each tier. Once 500,000 Crates have sold, the remaining Crates will only be purchasable with MUT. All MUT from crate purchases will be burned. There will also be special airdrop rewards at each tier for players who purchased Crates in that tier. This is an interesting system, and could potentially result in Crate speculation, especially for those who get in on the early tiers!

Beta?

Though we don’t have any official word of an open beta, the game is currently in a testing phase of a first development build with a few, selected players. They team lets players suggest names for Materials and Mutees, including this cuddly, legendary beast, now known as Magmilla!

And now, after a long news hiatus, the MuTerra team finally brings us a development update and also releases details about their upcoming alpha test phase. Though creature battler games seem to be everywhere these days, MuTerra is the only one on the Hive blockchain. Formerly known as Steem, Hive forked off from that platform and quickly established itself as the dominant twin. And though it hosts the very well-known blockchain game, Splinterlands, Hive is better known as a social platform.

MuTerra strives to bring more gaming attention to Hive with their creature battler game, currently being built on the Unity engine. Like Splinterlands, MuTerra plans to link to WAX, but with an interesting cross-blockchain configuration. The primary game connects to Hive. However, mutating/upgrading/converting your creatures, all happens on the WAX blockchain! It will be interesting to see how this plays out. It could be a cool feature, or just a logistical pain to deal with.

According to the dev update, the user interface, soundtrack, and scene navigation are well on the way. Integration with the Hive blockchain has also begun. The team is working on converting concept art for new Mutees into pixel art and they released a screenshot of an interior map screen (work in progress).

Enter the Flamander!

In addition, the team continues to build out the lore for the game, most recently releasing a story about a type of Mutee called Flamander. As you might imagine from the name, it’s a kind of flaming lizard! Well maybe not actually flaming, but super hot! With flesh that melts swords and burns spears! Interestingly, the lore story also mentions using its tanned leather to make heat resistant armor. Could I equip my creature with some Flamander leather armor after I manage to defeat the beast? Alpha Testing Phase

MuTerra just announced an alpha testing phase to start on January 7th, 2022. The testing phase opens up to players in staggered groups. Here are the official details in regards to what order they will invite new players.

We will be inviting the following people in a PHASED manner, starting this Friday January 7, 2022 at 1 PM GMT.

1. Everyone who bought MALDIVES packs in the HIVE side of the Pre-Sale.

2. Everyone currently in possession of MALDIVES packs. (packs bought from Hive Engine Included)

3. Everyone who opened their MALDIVES packs.

4. Everyone who Participated in the 4 seasons of the Discord Game we hosted.

The players that are being invited this Friday will be announced in our Discord server : MuTerra : Discord

For players who don’t fit into any of the above categories, you can still get a spot in the alpha by participating in the upcoming sale on WAX, playing the next season of their Discord game, or through a msterious crate sale! We know that 9,000 Maldvies packs will be sold during the WAX sale, but have no start date, yet. As for the crate sale, this is truly a mystery, but I would guess that it could include Mutee equipment and/or cage parts.

It’s unclear as to how much gameplay will be available during this testing phase. The team warns players to not expect a completed product. But whatever is there should steadily improve over the weeks as the dev team incorporates new features. It is also suggested that you talk with NPCs in the game, as they may have special insider information!

This testing phase continues until the team decides that they are ready for the alpha launch.

Important Note: This testing phase is not a chance to get a head start. Everything will be wiped once the official alpha launches.
