While we still wait to return to the planet of Dolos, Life Beyond has given us The Hub, a centralized social and informational space. Now, a new feature arrives in The Hub called Solo Combat Trials.

Solo Combat Trials

Solo Combat Trials see players face off against obstacles and enemies in a generated simulation. The challenges become increasingly difficult as players progress farther into the experience. The Solo Combat Trials are open to everyone, though holders of the Founders NFTs receive early access. Founders can already try their hand at the Trials, while everyone else can access the new challenge starting on May 29th, at 11am CET.

And though the Life Beyond hasn’t said anything about prizes for participating in the Solo Combat Trials, they are including a leaderboard. Every time a player completes a trial run, they will be scored based on certain criteria specific to the level they were on. So presumably, there could be some future contests with prizes for the top Combat Trials participants — maybe even hosted by the players!

There are apparently other modules being worked on for the simulator. Each with a different challenge or experience. It’s also easy to see how these simulation rooms would serve as a great training ground for new players — or even experienced players who want to try out different weapons and equipment!

The Life Beyond economy rests on three principles — gaming activity on a side-chain, a custodial wallet for frictionless, in-game, transactions, and a dual-currency system.

Like many other web3 projects these days, Life Beyond is building with an eye towards making their game frictionless to play, and bringing in new players from the web2 world. Part of effort includes offering a gaming experience that has no requirements for maintaining a personal wallet, or interacting directly with the blockchain. This will be accomplished by hosting most of the game activities on a side-chain, and providing an in-game, custodial wallet for all players.

Players can participate in Life Beyond, without every having to worry about on-chain tokens and NFTs if they want.

Life Beyond Tokenomics

Life Beyond will feature a two token system. These tokens are DOLS and an unnamed token that is currently referred to as FT (Fungible Token). DOLS will be an in-game currency only. It can be exchanged for FT in-game, but will never exist anywhere else. Meanwhile, the other token (FT), will be transferrable between the game’s custodial wallet, and traditional wallets on the mainchain via a bridge.

Most of the basic game functions will be kept to the sidechain and use DOLS as the currency. This includes player progression, building infrastructure, purchases on the in-game markets, and trading goods and services between players.

The FT token will be used for any NFT interactions such as repairing NFT items, crafting, minting, decorations, pets, etc. They will offer various items on their own marketplace, payable in FT. This can include items such as Land plots, Mystery Boxes, and other goodies. FT will also be used for staking. FT token staking can increase DOL emissions from land ownership, and will offer access to exclusive items in-game. And finally, FT will also serve as a governance token, letting players vote on decisions regarding the future of Life Beyond.

The Hub

Though their alpha playtest closed some time ago, Life Beyond has opened up ‘The Hub’. The Hub is a social space for players to interact and show off their characters, clothing, and equipment. This will be the central space for the main game and it already includes a couple of features. One is the Founder’s Terminal – a tribute plaque with the names of the first 500 Founders to join Life Beyond. The Hub also includes a terminal, with slides and information about the flora and fauna — information that players discovered during the alpha playtests and which they can now peruse at their leisure!

There aren’t many clothing options yet. But players with the Agent Zero Jackets can wear those on their avatars in The Hub. Players can download The Hub here.

As Life Beyond prepares to move forward with their 2023 development plans, they have decided to close down the minting of new Founder Keys and Agent Zero jackets. On March 17th, both sales will close and players will no longer be able to mint new copies of these items.

Founder Keys are the original game NFT, and provide numerous benefits to owners. Players with Founder Key NFTs are considered game VIPs and receive access to exclusive developer chats, special airdrops, first access to future mints, invites to all alpha and beta tests and events, a free Agent Zero Jacket, and more! If you think that you will be a long-time player of Life Beyond, or that Life Beyond will have some success, then you might want to consider grabbing a key while you can. Most game developers are pretty serious about rewarding their early backers!

As for the Agent Zero Jackets, these are in-game wearables that also provide out of game benefits such as staking bonuses and priority access to future events and mints.

Jackets cost $135 (USD), payable in a variety of different cryptocurrencies. Founder Keys cost $149.99 (USD), with the same selection of payment options. In addition, when you mint a Founder Key, an Agent Zero Jacket is automatically dropped into your wallet!

You can actually pick up both items for a cheaper cost on Open Sea, but purchasing a Founder Key from the secondary market won’t provide the bonus jacket.

Personally, I think it is the best game there is in Web3 and I definitely recommend it to all the gaming enthusiasts.

My opinion is that, if it was not for Animoca Brands, web3 gaming and the ‘metaverse’ would still be ages behind.

This might be the first time that NFTs, gaming, and fashion are all combined into a single experience. And it will happen in Life Beyond, a Sci-fi, AAA online RPG. As a web3 game, it allows its players to have true ownership over their in-game assets via NFTs. Soon, SWEAR’s shoes will be one of the possible items that players can own, trade, and equip on their characters.

Accordingly to Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, this will be the first of many fashion brands to launch their digital products on Life Beyond. Darewise is taking this idea to the next level and is planning to launch the Life Beyond Creative Solutions team. An agency to create new experiences in Life Beyond with other brands.

Life Beyond delayed the initially planned mint for their Agent Zero Jacket after the FTX collapse. But with markets seeming to stabilize, it’s time to mint those Jackets!

This special, Agent Zero Jacket is limited to 4,000 in number. With 2,750 reserved for Founder Key holders, and another 250 held back for marketing, promotions, etc, that leaves only 1,000 left available for the sale! Each Jacket costs $135 to mint, though Founder Key holders get them for free.

Founder Key holders don’t have to do anything. Anyone holding a Founder Key at the time of the snapshot (not yet announced), will receive an airdrop of an Agent Zero Jacket NFT! And since Founder Keys also offer other, ongoing benefits, it may be worth grabing one if you plan on playing Life Beyond. Earlier today the lowest price on secondary markets was just above the Jacket sale price, though sale volume seemed to be picking up, so that may not last for long!

Those without Founder Keys have to purchase their Agent Zero Jackets. Holders of the Trooper Key NFT get first crack during the private sale on November 30th, 2pm UTC. If any remain from that, the rest of the Jackets go up for public sale a day later. Though with over 69 thousand Trooper Keys in existence, I can’t imagine any Jackets making it past the private sale.

Trooper Keys cost only about 50 cents, so there is little reason to not participate in the private sale.

This limited edition, Agent Zero Jacket is an in-game wearable with a number of perks. It will have in-game utility and provide bonuses for wearing it. It will also be usable in a staking program, provide access to acquiring a physical version, and put holders on the allowlist for the next Agent Zero outfit item.

Wearers of this Jacket will likely have access to special quests and events in-game as well. This item is considered the genesis wearable for Life Beyond. And as such, it will confer life-long advantages and hold a special place in the game.

Blankos Season One

Life Beyond closes down their first alpha phase with a huge after party on October 12th. Incorporating the lore into the gameplay is a big part of Life Beyond. So, to celebrate the accomplishments of the players in clearing an area for the initial settlement on Dolos, the DEEP Agency will be hosting a special, in-game gathering. Though only open to holders of any of the Key NFTs from Life Beyond, Keys can be picked up from the secondary markets for very reasonable prices. You also have until October 11th to participate in the current alpha missions and earn experience and other potential rewards.

Mouse Haunt Dodge Ball PvP

On October 4th, Mouse Haunt Dodge Ball plans to launch their first PvP experience. Mouse Haunt Dodge Ball is a game about mice, playing dodgeball, and then coming back to haunt each other when they are defeated! Basically, a MOBA style game with some unique features. Players collect cannonballs, and try to hit the enemy heroes, depleting their shields and stunning them. Register on their site to receive early access. Private Beta 2 Launched for Illuvium Arena

Illuvium Private Beta 2 brings a major update to the auto-battler game. Illuvium Arena is only part of the planned Illuvium universe. The current alpha for Illuvium Arena is a PvE, auto-battler where players field a team of creatures against a selection of foes. After each successful battle, new foes appear and the player has a chance to change and upgrade their team composition. Players compete to see who can survive the most waves of enemies and earn a spot on top of the daily leaderboards.

Voxie Tactics Season 0

Voxie Tactics Season 0 launches on October 10th, with weekly leaderboards, a rental system, and opportunities to play and earn. This squad-based, fantasy, tactical combat game could solidify itself as a long-term web3 game. We’ve seen the rental markets for some games implemented with lackluster results, but Voxie Tactics may be in the right gaming space to make it work. MetalCore Open World Alpha

We haven’t seen any massive FPS games in the web3 space yet, and MetalCore looks to be the first! With a strong semblance to the old Planetside game, MetalCore promises a sci-fi, team-based shoot-em-up where players can play as ground troops or pilot a vehicle or mech as they battle across various maps. MetalCore received positive reviews from their recent demo at PAX West. Expect to see the first chances to play in their alpha in early October.

Civitas Character mint

Though they recently launched an alpha version of a game called Machines Arena on Steam, the Civitas team turns back to their primary game and prepares for their first Character Mint. The mint starts on October 4th and features two Character types, several archetypes, a whitelist mint, and a Dutch auction! All the info about the mint is here.

The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 Special events

The third season of The Sandbox is still on for the whole month of October and many events with special rewards will be running. Besides the general season rewards, many special events are held around different partners. There are rewards for specific avatar holders, but also more events open to all for chances to earn NFTs or even $SAND prizes.

Life Beyond has continued to add content to their alpha game over the last few months. But soon, the planned end of alpha approaches. And with it comes a special after party. On October 12th, 2022, anyone with a Life Beyond Key NFT (you can buy them for less than $1) can join in the celebration!

Content for Life Beyond is tied in with the lore. As players complete more missions, the foothold for humans on Dolos expands. With this expansion come new missions to gather resources, rescue stranded Agents, and setting up Decontaminator Generators to remove the alien plague from areas around the settlement.

The settlement expansion also brought new foes, new weapon upgrades, and an especially dangerous mission mode (Nightmare) for those who feel that they are at the top of their game. And in addition to developing new weapons, the colony has also created new outfits that offer better protection against the elements.

But, as they say, all work and no play makes Jack something something. So the DEEP Agency plans a special party. Scheduled for October 12th, this 24-hour event is only open to Key holders. The details of the party are still under wraps.

It’s unclear what happens after the after-party, but I would expect maybe a temporary shutdown before beta. Though we’ve seen some games move directly from alpha into beta playtesting, so it could really go either way.

There is still time to get in on the alpha rewards. Players can continue to run missions through October 11th.

The Apartment Access Key naming system in Life Beyond was a bit of a mess. With a bunch of very similar acronyms and little clarification on what the full purpose was for these NFTs. And though we still have to wait for the details, the Life Beyond team has provided an overview of their plans. And along the way, they renamed the NFTs as well, to make them more distinct and a better fit with the game lore.

The Renamed Origin Collection

The first NFT, formerly known as the Apartment Access Key becomes the Discoverer Key. Airdropped to those who signed up early, the Discover key will provide an in-game benefit, allow access to special events, and offer a staking option. The gold version (AAK-X) becomes the Founder Key. And in the eyes of the Life Beyond team, the most valuable! These keys are acquired by purchasing Visionary packs. Benefits include the expected early access and special Discord forum. But owners also receive a special in-game emote, a number of other in-game goodies (hoverboard, poster, outfit, pet robot), a digital artbook, their name on the Founder Altar and in the game credits, and a physical jacket!

In addition, the team teases in-game perks via association with a group called Milinda, a ‘very nice’ staking option, and real-life perks(?).

The Key given to owners of Bored Ape or Mutant NFTs during the initial airdrop becomes the Ape Key. For this, a ‘cool’ staking option and ‘something even cooler’ is promised.

Dolos Passport becomes the Trooper Key. This key also offers game benefits and a staking option. Additionally, Trooper Keys are linked to an in-game group called the GFE, or Guidance Force External, a sort of global police force.

I’m guessing that these group affiliations open up access to special quests or game areas. The Life Beyond team plans to release more detailed articles for each of these NFTs over the coming weeks.
