Infinite Fleet, the sci-fi game, has announced a free-to-play version of the game with several new features in the recent update. Currently, the game is playable on PC and requires players to buy an NFT ship via its official website to play the game. Now the developers have decided to open the game to a larger public through an invite-only feature. New updates added to the game include Social Hubs, the upgrading of Cruiser ships to Centurions, ship equipment, and the new currency Excellium.

Free-to-play updates

The Infinite Fleet free-to-play version will be available for new players. They can join via an invitation link generated by players who have already bought a ship for the paid version. Each player who owns a ship can invite 100 players per week. There is an invite option available on the official website for this. New players who sign up for the free version can choose three non-NFT and non-tradeable Centurion ships. The developers announced the free-to-play version to test the server load and ensure seamless gameplay.

Infinite Fleet Free-to-Play Update

Social Hubs, Equipment and other upgrades:

“Social Hubs” are one of the new features in this update. Mars and Midgar will be safe zones or “Social Hubs” where players can assemble, participate in exciting events, or make new friends.

From now onwards, players can pick an entire fleet of Centurion ships and customize them. Also, all existing Cruiser ships are upgraded to Centurions. The most amazing feature is the “Equipment” panel containing a huge selection of components and items to choose from. Players can select components and customize their ships easily. There are three types of equipment – defence, weapon and utility. The equipment panel will display the inventory, the right panel will display all the ship’s stats, and the middle panel will display the ship layout.

Infinite Fleet Equipment Update

A new in-game currency called Excellium is also added. This currency serve as the primary currency for the online store and is available to exchange for for USF credits and equipment fabrication. In addition, there are some UI and VFX changes, that include a revised Warping screen, highlighted available fleet slots, updated Mech thrusters VFX, and rescaling of the weapons VFX.

Like the temperatures outside for much of the northern hemisphere, the summer of blockchain gaming continues to heat up. August brings us several new playable betas and alphas. Enough to keep any avid gamer busy!

I am continually amazed by the increased sophistication in blockchain gaming. Though stake-and-click style games are still plentiful, they are forced to offer increasingly meaningful gameplay in order to stay relevant. And the focus on making a quick buck has shifted as well. More companies are beginning to use the terms ‘play and earn’ rather than ‘play to earn’. This is an important philosophical change that will help web3 gaming mature and become more about ownership in gaming and trying new ideas rather than ROI.

But anyway, enough rambling from me. On to August!

Colonize Mars Mission 4 Sale

Colonize Mars NFT pools

Colonize Mars launches its Mission 4 sale sometime this month. This sale is interesting in that it works via a card pool system, allowing players to buy as few, or as many cards at a time as they want. There will be four pools, each with different types of NFTs available. Prices increase as players buy cards, then decrease as the team adds more cards to the pool.

This is an intriguing idea, and it’s exciting to see something new. This should help provide value to MARTIA, the game token, as players can only buy from the card pool with MARTIA tokens. So, there should eventually be a balance between the card pools, external markets, MARTIA tokens, and WAX tokens. This will be an interesting process to watch!

Infinite Fleet, the upcoming sci-fi MMO developed by Pixelmatic, launched its beta version on July 28, 2022. The Alpha version of the game ran from March 3, 2021, to May 31, 2022, during which 2170 players, aka commanders, participated in the fight. Considering the feedback of players from Alpha testing, this beta version comes with new and improved features, major gameplay changes, and bug fixes.

The Infinite Fleet closed beta is available to players who own a Centurion-class ship. You can buy a ship via the official website and click on buy ships under “Beta Live.” There are 3 types of ships available now: Polaris Cannon MK-5 is available at $80, Polaris Versa MK-6 at $40, and Polaris Envoy MK-3 at $25. Other ships have already been sold.

New features

Recently the Infinite Fleet team decided to migrate away from Unity’s ECS due to some drawbacks. ECS or Entity component system allows game developers to create impressive sceneries and gaming experiences. Therefore, the team rebuilt the entire game, due to which the beta release was delayed by three months. However, the game has greatly improved gameplay and visual quality with enhanced options and features.

From now mid-range PCs will also be able to run this game. In the Alpha release, players needed a pulse scan to find asteroids and minerals, but from now pressing the ALT key will help you scan hidden minerals. In addition, players can drag, select and assign attack groups with fleets and position them instead of clicking on each ship to issue a command.

Missions

The game introduces three types of missions: Reconnaissance, Assassination, and Routing. Players can receive rewards for completing missions and challenges besides USF credits that will help players upgrade ships. In addition, players can upgrade their own level (Commander Level) by upgrading ships. It will give you access to more rewards and ship-level cap upgrades. In reconnaissance missions, from the name, you can understand that you have to search for enemy ships and send back their data to the USF command. In Assassination, you have to destroy marked locations; in Routing, you have to kill Atrox enemies.

Infinite Fleet Station - Jotun Orbital

Gameplay Updates

The acceleration speed of ships has increased; players can now move faster than before with more precise and coordinated movement. Points of interest are added across the new galaxy map. You can select and visit them. The Atrox enemies have advanced ships that will make the game more challenging. Players can directly control the Cruisers if they have a Centurion class ship. The Cruisers can be controlled when required for specific attacks.

The ships will have a shorter range, so you cannot shoot Atrox enemies from far distances. In addition, the range for beam weapons has been reduced from 93.75km to 50km. The team is currently working on bringing additional features to the game. For a better experience, you may play the game as a team.

There are still some issues in the game that the developers do not yet resolve. For example, players may face connectivity issues or antivirus blocking the installation. In addition, some fabrication problems are also present, but the developers have assured that they are actively trying to solve the problems at the earliest.

What is Infinite Fleet?

Infinite Fleet is an MMO strategy game with a bitcoin-enabled economy. The game is built on Liquid Network – a secondary layer of bitcoin. In the game, players are commanders and take control of starships to fight against Atrox enemies. Players have to own NFT spaceships to play the game.

The beta version of the game has been released on PC. It will also have a companion app to help players buy and sell items and use the marketplace. In addition, infinite Fleet has various gameplay features, including Ships, autofire missiles, target scanning, fleet formation, shipyard, godspeed mode, mining, and more.

Infinite Fleet’s official in-game currency is the INF token. INF lets users purchase virtual products from other players and vendors within the Infinite Fleet game, similar to the traditional gold or currency prevalent in multiplayer online games of the past and present. On the other hand, INF is a true cryptoasset, meaning players may move it out of the game and into their own cryptocurrency wallets. Players will have genuine ownership of their hard-earned game assets this way. This novel use of a cryptoasset to an MMO gaming currency lays the stage for a future of seamless value transfer between virtual and real assets.

To kick off our video interview series, we welcome Chris Wood, COO of Pixelmatic, the company developing Infinite Fleet. Infinite fleet is a space strategy MMORPG where players command their fleet of ships to defeat the alien threat.

In this interview, Chris and our host Bruno discuss the current state of the game, the roadmap ahead and the overall direction in which Pixelmatic is developing the game.

They also talk about the different NFTs available in the game, the $INF token and the play-to-earn model of the game. It is clear that Chris and his team are putting the gameplay before potential earnings, following the now more and more popular play-and-earn approach.

They conclude by discussing the current state of NFT gaming and give us a few tips on how to identify quality projects in a space that is not always easy to navigate for newcomers.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you can also check out our video review of the alpha version of Infinite Fleet.

What is Infinite Fleet?

In Infinite Fleet the gamer plays a commander within the United Sol Federation Combined Fleet. Behind every choice are deeper choices, which allow for a narrative driven by the players. The game allows players to build and customize their fleet, secure territories, and move into space.

Pixelmatic is making Infinite Fleet, as they announced in April. Developers from the studio have experience in the strategy genre. They’ve worked on titles like Age of Empires 4, Dawn of War and Homeworld. Samson Mow is heading the studio, as well as blockchain company Blockstream. Not entirely surprising, considering Blockstream is also the company behind the Liquid Network, which they used for the deployment of the INF currency. You can find more details on their website.

Even though Infinite Fleet relies strongly on real-time space action, Commanders can also send their ships on missions while they are AFK. These missions can reward players with items to boost the strength of their fleet. This has been one of the new features of Infinite Fleet.

Recently Exordium and Pixelmatic released the Fleet update, which now gives gamers the option to control an entire fleet of spaceships. As players increase their commander level, they can also increase their fleet. Having a bigger fleet, adds more gameplay options.

First of all, a larger fleet automatically means players have more firepower. This also adds more strategic options in battle, as players can flank their opponents. However, a bigger fleet also comes with more responsibility. Maintenance should be considered a priority, as only ships in good conditions are suitable for battle.

Latest game update for Infinite Fleet

Infinite Fleet is currently in its Alpha phase. Players travel the galaxy, fight the Atrox, and gather $INF, the game currency. The token exists on the Liquid network, a secondary layer for Bitcoin. The $INF tokens are not sold by the company, instead they are generated through in-game participation and special events. Players with Alpha access and an Exordium account can download the game today.

With this latest update, players who already owned a Centurion-class ship before June 9th, 2021 received a free Cruiser to join their fleet, the USF Polaris Guardian MK-2. The Guardian is a heavy assault Cruiser designed to charge into close combat. The ship is equipped with powerful plasma weaponry and double the armor of most Cruiser-class ships. Players can also purchase the Guardian at the Infinite Fleet store.

All Cruiser class ships will not be directly controllable, but will instead fly in formation around your command ship and accept movement orders in the Strategic Camera. Their firepower adds to your own during combat.

What is Infinite Fleet?

In Infinite Fleet the gamer plays a commander within the United Sol Federation Combined Fleet, because of this role players need to defeat an alien threat. Behind every choice are deeper choices, which allow for a narrative driven by the players. As a result the game allows players to build and customize their fleet, secure territories, and move into space. You can play the game alone, but according to the developers co-op gameplay is the best. We don’t know whether the robot spaceships of Infinite Fleet can also combine into a bigger robot.

The online space epos Infinite Fleet has gathered $4,2 million dollar through its public security token offering since January, bringing its total token funding to $7,3 million. However, the token offering (STO) has only been available to people in certain European countries.

Infinite Fleet publisher Exordium uses investment platform Stokr to attract investors across European countries. According to their latest blog post more than 800 investors have put money in the game. Soon people from more countries will be able to invest in the space game, including the United States.

Based on their investment, players earn rewards. This is very similar to crowdfunding. However, the tiers go from $100 up to $500,000, and each comes with more and exclusive rewards. More importantly, investors receive EXO tokens. These tokens represent equity in Exordium, the publisher of Infinite Fleet. This means that investors get a share of the profits of Infinite Fleet and future games from the publisher.

Pixelmatic is going to add mechs to Infinity Fleet as a unit class, bring more dynamic and strategic combat to the battlefield. These mechs benefit the real-time strategy gameplay of Infinite Fleet. In addition certain ships will have weak points on for example their backside or their bottom, promoting flanking and tactical maneuvering during combat.

Any ship with a Hangar Bay will have the ability to carry mechs and bring them to battle. Mechs can serve as bombers or interceptors. They are too agile to be hit by the large weaponry of a capital ship, but point-defense weapons and missiles could do the trick though.

In Infinite Fleet every player will control a fleet of five ships. This fleet consists out of one main command ship and four additional ships. For example, you will control a Centurion class ship, and then four Cruiser ships are added to your fleet. There will be different ships with different advantages, and disadvantages, adding a tactical layer to the fleet formations. In addition there will be differences between the factions: Atrox and USF.

Each spaceship is also a robot

Last month Infinite Fleet released a trailer in which they revealed that each spaceship has an alternative mode which transforms it into a mech or a robot. Details on gameplay features are still scarce, but one can imagine that robot mode adds more firepower and agility, but makes a ship also more vulnerable. Perhaps robot mode will mean something different for each spaceship, supporting the concept of a fleet working together.

Infinite Fleet is a space MMO running on blockchain technology. In this particular case the project uses the layer-2 solution Liquid on the Bitcoin blockchain. This solution allows Pixelmatic to create a cryptocurrency especially for all in-game transactions, while the Liquid solution also stores ownership over in-game assets.

There will only be a limited amount of INF on the market. Players will be able to earn INF by for example doing missions. The developers call this Proof-of-Participation. Of course players could also acquire the cryptocurrency once other players start trading it on an exchange.

The upcoming blockchain-powered space epic Infinite Fleet will feature spaceships that can turn into a robot. This gameplay detail has been revealed in their latest trailer Counterattack. The trailer features voices from several famous voice actors, including Briand Drummond and Kira Buckland.

Pixelmatic didn’t specifically reveal this gameplay detail in their trailer, but when asked about the ship transformations studio boss Samson Mow simply answered: “Yes.” As a result it looks like Infinite Fleet isn’t only a space epic, but also combines elements from anime series like Robotech and Gundam.

In the trailer you can hear the voices of Brian Drummond, who also played Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z. In addition there’s Kira Buckland, known for her voice as B2 in the video game Nier: Automata, and Willy Tybur, who voiced in Attack on Titan.

Infinite Fleet running on Bitcoin blockchain

Infinite Fleet is a space MMO running on blockchain technology. In this particular case the project uses the layer-2 solution Liquid on the Bitcoin blockchain. This solution allows Pixelmatic to create a cryptocurrency especially for all in-game transactions, while the Liquid solution also stores ownership over in-game assets.

There will only be a limited amount of INF on the market. Players will be able to earn INF by for example doing missions. The developers call this Proof-of-Participation. Of course players could also acquire the cryptocurrency once other players start trading it on an exchange.

What is Infinite Fleet?

In Infinite Fleet the player is a commander within the United Sol Federation Combined Fleet, because of this role players need to defeat an alien threat. Behind every choice are deeper choices, which allow for a narrative driven by the players. As a result the game allows players to build and customize their fleet, secure territories, and move into space. You can play the game alone, but according to the developers co-op gameplay is the best. Whether the robot spaceships of Infinite Fleet can also combine into a bigger robot, is not known yet.

More details can be found on their website.
